The company has garnered significant criticism regarding its customer service and shipping practices, with numerous customers expressing dissatisfaction over exorbitant shipping fees, poor item descriptions, and inadequate packing leading to damaged goods. Many reviews highlight a perceived shift from a community-focused mission to a profit-driven approach, resulting in a loss of customer trust. While some long-time customers appreciate the variety of items available, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration with the lack of transparency, responsiveness, and support. This feedback suggests a pressing need for the company to reassess its customer service policies and shipping practices to enhance overall satisfaction.

I've been watching the auctions on sewing machines for several months now. It appears that there is at least one 'person' who drives up the cost of the machines early on then 'drops out' and doesn't bid anymore. Based on reading the other reviews on this site I would agree that Goodwill is extremely dishonest. It's time for the Attorney General of NY of investigate this fraudulent company.
It doesn't make any sense to bid early. Best to wait until the final few minutes.
Purchase something and first it takes FOREVER to get and they have all kinds of fees added on. One purchase was won at $7.99 handling fee $2.99 tax like $1.53 and shipping $14.76! WTF! Use USPS for like $5.00. A wallet should not cost that much to ship! Not paying for it
Nobody else bidding only me. I was a winner. I was happy, but i wanna pay but i didint find where. After i saw " i lost tha auction. Why? I didint undarstend. I try make contact the costumer service, and the seller, but nobody answer me back. I saw next day the seller came up for auction again and closed my email.
Scammers! Everything is broken and prices are inflated. Shill bidding and outright fraud Can you give less than 1 star? This is a total train wreck... corporate greed at it's worse.
I have purchased 3 electronic item off of them that where total junk! Their disclaimer says buying as is. But all three items where "tested and power on" one was a 5 disc cd changer sure it powered on, but the darn tray would not come out the laser tray was stuck and gears where broken. No discloser of that. But I have bought other items that where just fine. Stay away from electronics from them!
The people at each goodwill location are not trained to accurately or complete describe items. Example: testing is considered complete if they plug anime in ir install batteries and some lights come on they don't know if it's an error light or if the actual functions of the item are working. They describe an item as a womens large but they dont measure. Actually it was a large but it's a girls size large. I am a size 8 woman. Perfumes expire in the description they should picture the numbers on the perfume in 9order for a person to check the code to determine if its only 6 months expired or 6 years. When you inquire about an item it may be days before you receive a response too late to make a decision about wise bidding, its it is on a weekend you wont hear until the second weekday after the weekend. Fifty percent of what I've bought has been dead on arrival ir advertised as new with tags but when it arrives it's obviously dirty and has been worn with ripped seams etc. Buyer beware.
I found out that there are "inside bidders" from within Goodwill. I bid on an item and immediately noticed that there was this "ghost" bidder who kept increasing the price of the item, so when the auction had about 2-3 minutes left, I stopped bidding and let that bidder win. To my surprise, the same item came up for auction again two days later...(The rules state you have 7 days to pay...) Really? Coincidence? Bidders beware!
I bought a lot of stuff from Goodwill most of the electric stuff doesn't work like vacuum sewing machine and most of them missing part and they don't even mention it on the ad

Hello. The item was listed as "untested, functionality unknown" and the pictures show visible scratches. As per our return policy, there is no discrepancy with the listing, and we are not able to issue a refund.

Lesson Learned. Have a great day.
I had a few good buys from the Goodwill online shopping site, but no bargains by any means. Lately, I found bids I made from a couple of west coast locations were always bid up at the last second. In two cases the same bidder name was listed.
The bids I have won charged exhorborant shipping (which I calculate into my value of the item) and shipping that takes two weeks.
Use another auction site. I won't give in to this kind of trickery, lack of respect or care they have toward their supporters.
Sad, just sad. I'll find another charity to support.
I bid on a pair of shoes that were labeled in the description a size 8. I paid for the shoes because I was bidding on something else and the notice kept coming up to pay. I noticed later they were a size 41. That is at least a size 9 in the US. I contacted Goodwill of the Oplympic Ranier Region and told them to not ship the shoes and give me a refund because of the discrepancy. Of course, they shipped them anyway. Also, they lost a one of my winning bids in the warehouse. Then, they tried to charge me twice for an item. Goodbye Goodwill Online Auctions!
I was high bidder on a banjo. After getting my credit card info they said they had sent it by mistake to the wrong customer. Two days later they said the "customer refused to return it." Lucky for me I had called my bank to block my payment. Otherwise who know what else they would have tried. Why don't people go to jail for scenes like this?
They put sold as is on every item so they aren't liable for junk sold. I spent a lot of money on a few items and they wouldn't even function as advertised. Stay away from electronics and appliances.
Shopmygoodwill online buyer bidders and buyer beware and purchase at your own risk. Ghost bidders for certain: 1 item no bids and all of a sudden 1 mistery bidder out the blue drives the price up on an item that you could purchase brand new for less and without the ridiculous exorbitant shipping and handling cost( placing the item in a timely box and postage for certain on 1/4 or less the cost to mail an item anywhere. Items often don't match the picture or description should read might work and missing key parts to make the item function, and if it does function at all for a very brief time only. Keep your junk Goodwill. I'd rather purchase a new item(s) instead I'd waiting 1-2 weeks for suspect quality.
Horrible, bought items on the 20th didn't ship until the 30th. Their excuse was we are behind. Not my problem. Shipping and handling fees are always $20. Literally bought 5 new hotwheels and was expecting about $10 shipping. Wrong $25 bucks. No thanks not paying. Have also read from former employees they shill bid on items. Sorry but a ton of stuff sells for more than retail and then a few days later that same item is relisted. Goodwill is a scam anymore. All the stores have upped prices to retail or internet sales. Quit donating to this $#*! company. Drop your stuff off at local Salvation army
Im actually fighting for a item I just won 2 emails and 2 direct messages and still no respond and I won another item went back on the next to pay for it and they removed it from my account I also been asking about that still no respond I feel if you win something for a good price and they feel they can make more I have a feeling they will take it back and resist it because I seen the same laptop later that night
The handling charges and auctions led me to investigate this company. The are making billions of dollars off free merchandise they obtain through a fake charity. They are a large corporation that pays no livable wage to their employees. They don't donate but a fraction of what they take in. They pay the upper management billions in salary. They make billions and 'donate' contributions under $600,000!
Fighting with them to ship what I bought, been a week now, poor service. Fire the manager and get a new one... I ordered from:
Seller: Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier Region
I Bought new Michael Kors boots!
They arrived in a well packed box boots were in original box plastic cardboard cover!
True honest website size correct
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
