The company has garnered significant criticism regarding its customer service and shipping practices, with numerous customers expressing dissatisfaction over exorbitant shipping fees, poor item descriptions, and inadequate packing leading to damaged goods. Many reviews highlight a perceived shift from a community-focused mission to a profit-driven approach, resulting in a loss of customer trust. While some long-time customers appreciate the variety of items available, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration with the lack of transparency, responsiveness, and support. This feedback suggests a pressing need for the company to reassess its customer service policies and shipping practices to enhance overall satisfaction.

Don't waste your money! I bought a sewing machine, paid like $50 for shipping and it was missing parts and after I paid for new parts it doesn't work at all! Scam artists! I won't be shopping at the local store anymore either! Total I paid $100 for junk!
DO NOT RECOMMEND! They could careless about your the customer service on this site is absolutely atrocious! I spend close to $1000 a WEEK on their website and have always paid my bids on time! Until last week my child got ahold of my phone and won a bid on a TEN DOLLAR item! I quickly contacted the seller trying to get that bid deleted before the auction was over so I didn't screw up their potential sale but they didn't get back to me til days later! Not to mention they could care LESS what you've got going on in your life or about their customers AT ALL! I've seen others receive one time removal courtesies for accidental bids... I contacted the seller but because I sent them multiple messages in a row they wanted to punish me and tell me I'm pretty much screwed! So I emailed corporate, they couldn't careless either! How can a company that works strictly off DONATIONS be absolutely SO money hungry they can't release you from ONE MESS UP! When this happened I had NINE items in my orders that I had JUST PAID FOR! Do you care at ALL about what your customers actually think?!
My information in case you decide to develop some compassion...

Buyer beware! You will encounter all manner of shenanigans on shopgoodwill. They sell mostly broken junk as far as electronics go and a few cherry picked items to put at the top. Even if they claim it is tested and it arrives broken, doesn't arrive at all, or is a totally different item entirely they will NOT refund you under any circumstances. You are better off dumpster diving. Word on the street is that they have shill bidders for jewelry and collectibles and if you win it at a low price they have been known to cancel the sale and erase listing records. Customer service is poor to non-existant because they are "overloaded" with sales and somehow cannot manage to pay attention to anything once they have your money. I have dealt with many online auction houses and this one is by far the worst for misrepresentation of the item and condition as well as follow thru and draconian customer service statements so anyone thinking of using this site should really consider using other venues. Shipping is always slow even though the item has been posted for a week or more, allowing plenty of time to prepare it for shipping. Some locations charge waaaaay too much for shipping (Colorado locations) and sometimes ridiculous handling fees for the smallest of items.
I've purchased 10 items from shopgoodwill over the last few months. I've received items that were the wrong size from what was listed, boots that were dry rotted so bad that the sole fell off when I tried it on and just this morning received a pair of shoes that were the wrong size, wrong brand and wrong color from what I bid on (with a note on the invoice that said "can't find"). Hey Goodwill, how hard is it to fulfill an order properly? How hard is it to take a few minutes to inspect the item you are putting up for sale? Your inventory is free! Spend a little on employee salary and you may find that you get a good return on that investment.
I have always paid for my items and every single time I am forced to create a new account, it says that I'm using the wrong password, then the next time I'm in, then "your account has been disabled" what's going on?! I'm ready to spend my money with you, but you won't let me!
I have won items hundreds of times. Items that they believe can see them getting a higher winning bid, they can and will cancel.
The fur coats that this site auction off is terrible the skins are so dry they said this coyote was not damaged i receive it with a big dry rot hole on sleeve shop goodwill is very deceiving with there photos be aware of this site
Donated to Goodwill for years thinking my donations were helping the community and their employees (many of them special needs). Turns out they throw away most of what you donate because their minimum price is so high no one will buy it. The valuable stuff never sees the store shelves as it's sent to this auction site and priced higher than amazon and ebay even though they get their merchandise for free, and don't even get me started on their shipping scams which cost you $20 for a pound. And if all that weren't bad enough they bid on their own items to raise the prices all the time. Stay away from this company, it's not a charity and their middle management is making MILLIONS.
I found random items in my lot and some of them broken. Will probably donate them back. And shipping can drive $11.99 to double the cost. Even if you are one state over. Stick to ebay honestly. The item wasnt exactly as described.
I won a bid on an item and the item was shipped but never delivered. When I won the item it said "Track your item here" and there was no tracking number. I emailed them to see where my package was and the shopgoodwill.com support said it had been delivered. Was home all day and no Fedex driver even drove down my street that day. Either the driver delivered the package to the wrong house or lost it and marked it delivered. Went back and forth with them for months and they refused to give me a refund. This wasn't a scam or anything since it was Fedex who didn't get the package to me but the fact that shopgoodwill.com just kept my money is crazy. Some would consider this theft.
When you say estimated shipping (which is always too high) then why do you not return $ if shipping is lower than your estimated price?
I have purchased a number (100+) items with some great buys and some buys I wish I hadn't made. In the end, you make the choice of what to buy and at what price to buy it. Shipping prices are stated up front. They charge sales tax. They state the time frame in which they have to deliver the product to the shipper. None of this is hidden. If you do your homework, you can factor all of these things into your max bid price. I win approximately 20% of what I bid on. If there are shill bidders, it does not affect what I bid, only what I might win.
Experiences:
- I have had three shipments arrive broken in handling or shipment. All were refunded.
- I was told prior to a shipment that the glass on a picture was broken in handling. Did I still want it or a full refund? (I took it as is.)
- I am still waiting on a package from a Washington state store. (I assume they are in lock down due to the pandemic)
- I have had packages left on my door in the rain. (Not Goodwill's fault)
Lessons:
- I no longer bid on items poorly photographed or described and I bid anticipating if not the worst, at least not the best.
- I check shipping and handling charges before I bid. Some can be really high.
- I understand what I am buying by spending the time to do the homework. (Can I get this item cheaper on another venue?)
Do NOT donate to your local goodwill. It will not go to help your community. Anything worth more than 5 dollars is shipped to Shopgoodwill where shill bidders jack up the bids. If they happen to win, it will be relisted within the week. Dirty!
Shopgoodwill.com has great deals. They have a variety of Ătems that are hard to find and unique. I enjoy shopping online ar shopgoodwill.com
I used to work at Goodwill. We used to put signatures on baseballs and footballs that we would get to sell them for more. So beware on the auctions most of them are fake autographs that the store workers right on there
I am a frequent buyer. I love the premise of creating jobs for others. With that said I do not appreciate being taken advantage of and not knowing where to go to complain. Shipping prices are horribly high. A 2lb item becomes 11lbs with 3-4.00 dollar handling tacked on. To add insult to injury I've received a broken plate in shipment, yesterday the box looked like it was torn open. Security had to approve me taking it to my apartment
I came across shop good will a couple months ago but was scared to buy anything for fear of many things. I decided to go for it and I have to say I am very happy! First I bought a pair of Frye boots for a great deal ($44)! They came in decent time (received 8 days after purchase) and were exactly what they were described to be. I love them! I then ordered a ring and it is so much more beautiful than the pics. Its not a real ring it is a Tacori cubic zarconia I paid $24 but its so pretty! It did take a lil longer to ship about 7 days BUT this is during the Covid-19 time so that was to be expected and all together from order to received was 10 days. I then bought a set of 4 flintstone character glass cups for $13 and they were packaged so well and I received them 6 days after ordering. None of my prices included shipping which sometimes can be a bit high but they do have 1cent shipping on a lot of items and some items even if the shipping is $15 the item price can be so low that it still makes it a good deal. I love this site and will continue to use!
HORRIBLE experience with this site! First, an ad for a pair of jeans stated 2 different sizes (one size in the title, one size in the description). I asked for clarification & they answered. But after I ordered & got the jeans, it was very obvious that their answer was WRONG! Worse, when the jeans arrived there was a HUGE HOLE in the butt of the jeans. The photos in the ad look like they folded the jeans to DELIBERATELY HIDE the hole. AWFUL!
Was looking at pelts/hides/taxidermy as they often have a good selection. Came across a beautiful elk' hide that was priced nicely, $9.99 starting bid. Looked at the shipping to see it costs $75 to ship it. Makes no sense considering that a reindeer hide from Illinois costs $17 to ship. Utah isnt that much farther? It would cost me less money to drive there and I live in Massachusetts. Don't shop here without checking the shipping FIRST.
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
