The company has garnered significant criticism regarding its customer service and shipping practices, with numerous customers expressing dissatisfaction over exorbitant shipping fees, poor item descriptions, and inadequate packing leading to damaged goods. Many reviews highlight a perceived shift from a community-focused mission to a profit-driven approach, resulting in a loss of customer trust. While some long-time customers appreciate the variety of items available, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration with the lack of transparency, responsiveness, and support. This feedback suggests a pressing need for the company to reassess its customer service policies and shipping practices to enhance overall satisfaction.

Provide Jobs to those in need and deliver used products to consumers at reasonable prices. Goodwill is just awful. In its delivery. Manipulative growth into resell industry. Corruptive profits from unreasonable shipping costs. This website should be banned to protect consumers from damaged products, taking advantage of knowledge on shipping others may not allowing for hype surplus charging of products.
When you purchase from Shopgoodwill.Com. You'll have to wait at least a week (or more) before you receive your purchase. It's not worth the wait, unless it's something you really want. I suggest you try other sites, EBAY, POSHMARK. There are several other online shopping sites that are much better than SHOPGOODWILL and the waiting time will not be (1-2) weeks before you receive your purchase. CONSUMERS BEWARE...
First and last time wasting time on this site. I got so excited to see a high end set of pots and pans, beautiful copper and ceramic, and I won the bid at $30! Yay me! Only $3 for handling? Sure!
Then the f***ing invoice came with $85 shipping cost. Look, I understand that CA to CT is a bit of a hike, but go f**k yourselves with that BS. You procure the items for free, it's criminal to do business that way.
Apparently they up the shipping a lot recently. Last month I paid $7 for 2lbs, now it is $14. This month or actually as of 10/1, if you go back to the same item you bought and click the estimated shipping, it will be 2x the cost you paid 1 or 2 weeks ago. They have updated their checkout system. Not sure is this causing this issue or they simply have jacked up all shipping price. I somehow didn't realize this and paid one of my order with shipping cost $27 dollars. It was estimated as around $15 when I won the auction. Anyone has the same issues?
Way too often the items are NOT as listed, they are pure junk. Shipping goes up after you purchase. E.g. I was charged over $25 shipping fees for a table cloth weighing 2 lbs. The organization engages in unethical practices, a lot. You can find the same items either retail or other online auction or resale sites and pay less in the long run.
First off shopgoodwill. Com shipping policy is they will ship your merchandise within 5 BUSINESS DAYS. Most of the different stores take this long and longer to ship. The worst of the bunch is the store in Washington DC. I purchased a banjo from them 11 days ago and as of now they have never shipped it. I have sent several emails wit no reply and telephoned Customer Service. The phone is answered by a machine, stating no one is available to take my call. The recording says to leave a message and when I tried it said the box was full. A mess of an Organization to be sure. The shipping charges are getting higher all the time and inaccurate item discriptions are common. So bid at your own risk
One word I have for goodwill auction, GREEDY.
They forgot where they came from and how it was founded, taking pepole unwanted item and sell it for a profit and to help disability and younger generation, now days they act like they run a high end business, charging 4time the shipping amounts, for extra extra the profit. GREEDY, cant wait for your business to slow down and shut down
You are disgusting...
I did get a few good things from this site but they rob you on shipping. The other issue is that they say as is and if the item is damage then you are stuck with it, even if the damage is not listed. It takes 5-6 days for them to even ship the item. I sent them a message about a plate that was cracked and not mentioned in the listing and no one ever responded. Overall it's okay but you definitely have to be careful.
Its been over a week and they still havent shipped my order, I paid the day I won the auction. You can find better deals on merceri and atleast those actually ship!
Stay away from this site, ghost bidders, ridiculous shipping rates, extra handling fees. Very shady website.
I just purchased a small costume jewelry pin for $4.99 from shopgoodwill.com. When I checked out, the shipping and handling fees were $15... making my bargain not so much a bargain with a total in excess of $19. My fault - I should have read more closely.
If you want to resale items online... ya gotta be able to compete with your competition. And because of that, I don't think they'll get away with these preposterous fees for much longer - but, in the meantime... shop around on other sites like EBay, Mercari, Etsy etc for the item you found on shopgoodwill.
I don't dislike the online Goodwill shop - I just believe they'll find that seasoned online buyers will, eventually, expect Goodwill to be more in line, competitively, with the majority of other resale businesses.
Never mind bad defective stuff that's what is supouse to be old used donated items.
Im ok with that, these people are really not experts or techs to check most of these stuff.
Specially electronics gadgets.
But what these people take the cake is in SHIPPING omg.
You sell an item you get paid for it, then just sit on this thing just looking at it for at least 5 days before initiating shipping, how hard can this be, print a label box the item unless your shipping departmen is in china,
Shows incompetence.
This site is $#*! its taking all the good stuff you'd find in stores. And removing the mystery and fun of thrifting since the implementation of the "everything good goes on the site" rule to be honest you used too find good deals on awesome stuff in stores now all the awesome is online and stores get $#*! again $#*! this site
Do not buy purses off this website, they always take pictures so you cant see the damage. It's happened 2x for me! Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I really don't know why I even did it, I know Goodwill doesn't help anyone but their corporate people. They are a joke! 3 different purses had damage you couldn't see in their pics and they smell like mildew
Too many rich people bidding everything up. Cant win anything.its goodwill geesh people. I can not afford to shop on goodwill com. That's pretty bad
My bid won** $4.99**** shipping $9.47 handling $4.00 total $18.46 Tax $. 92 Grand total $19.38. It is way to expensive,
Bid on a Michael Whitaker saddle and bowed out when the bidding went over my max. Sale ends. 3 weeks later saddle is back up for sale. I did some online searching. This "same saddle" has been up for auction several time. The auction just ended again today 8/31/20 at a whopping 780.00. Lets see if it comes back up again (Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier Region) Total fraud IMO
Jewelry may not be what it is posted, you need to confirm what they claim via a true jeweler, I bought a pair of opal earrings and one was cracked, could not see it from the pictures, items posted could be damaged. You want jewelry? Better to go to estate sales
I like to buy things now I do not like that bidding. I do not like the eBay style. I love the goodwills but they are close down at Springfield Ma. I used to buy everything at the one on Sumner Ave. This is discouraging.
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
