DO NOT! I REPEAT, DO NOT! Sign up for this home warranty company! You will regret it every breathing minute of your life if you sign on with Service Plus. I was wangled into signing up for a 6- year program with $45.00 per visit for $1,800. Out of NJ, they were formally known as Total Home Protection up until about 4 months ago. From the moment we had an issue with one of our appliances, it was a total nightmare. It took weeks to get an appliance fixed or replaced. We lived without a refrigerator/ freezer for almost a month while they kept sending technicians or while we got our own technicians since they had noone available. This was an emergency and they had even gone on vacation for days so noone answered their phone. We had to store our food in refrigerators and freezers in the homes of friends and neighbors until we were able to get a new unit. In the end, we got nothing toward a new fridge since they said it was a freon issue. It also took months to get reimbursed almost $375.00, money we laid out to hire another co. To look at it since they were unavailable. Then when our microwave died, they insisted on doing a virtual service call which was a disaster. In the end, they did pay for a replacement, but only partially. We were only given a reimbursement enough to pay for a model with no convection oven, and in the contract, it said we were entitled to the same or similar unit that we owned. In the end it took months to get out from under this company and we had to settle for a little over $700.00 from our $1,800.00 payment as they subtracted the costs of the microwave and 6 months of being on the plan as well as the money paid out to the other contractor we were forced to hire since theiir own contractors were not available. They don't answer phones, they switch you around the company when you call, they don't make emergency calls on weekends and they take forever to schedule a service call if you are even lucky enough to contact them. They fight and argue with you, reimbursements take forever, and at times they are downright nasty. Please, please, please, avoid them like the plague!
