First the bad way: who would ban a account thats close to 100 followers? And why would they ban someone who did nothing (IP ban 3rd day) what the! He ST sucks its the worst ST ever they need to replace them
Good way: i got lot of followers and it a good community and some of my friends have it too
It takes like 16 years for it to stop lagging and it deletes my account for no reason! And everything i search, if it has random things like running, (Do it and you will know what I mean) It just shows furrys!
Hello. I am TPRisesAgain.
So I was in Scratch for 7 years, and the old scratch in 2013-2014 is great. But then all those FNAF projects came and banned it. It's kinda troublesome, right? The UI is relatively easy to do, and it unleashed my creativity. But then MIT banned me for invalid reasons. I tried to do appeals but they ignored me for over a week.
So in my conclusion, this is an alright website, just that the moderators aren't very good.
Scratch is an online community made by MIT for children to not only learn about programming and animation, but to have fun and chat with friends. Basically, it's Facebook and Youtube combined, but techy.
You make little games, or videos, or whatever by snipping together these action and programming "Blocks" like Legos. You can do various things with these blocks, like move a character around, animate a character, or make a screen scroll. At first, it's kind of hard to understand, but you get a hang of it.
The Scratch Team and it's users are very welcoming, and their are a lot of fanbase-related things on Scratch. Anime, Gaming, Music, Art, whatever you're into, their are hundreds of thousands of people on Scratch into the same thing.
Bottom line, I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend you give Scratch a try.
This computer coding learning program deserves a ZERO. I got from my local library a book entitled "HELP YOUR KIDS WITH COMPUTER CODING" which is based on Scratch 2. I then signed up for an account with Scratch on my computer. But the instructions the book gives are terrible. The illustrations are very inconsistent. In addition, there are problems with the software --- like not being able to delete mistakes, choosing a new sprite only to find that my code has disappeared and I have to start all over again, and being unable to save projects in the offline version. In addition, the Scratch website provides me NO WAY to give feedback to the moderators in asking for help. They have a so-called "discussion forum", but it's junk because of my inability to contact the moderators and ask new questions on that sorry crap that passes for their discussion forum. So from the time I started with Scratch on the afternoon of Saturday, April 6,2024, I lasted only through the afternoon of Sunday, April 7, before finding out that Scratch is no good for the kind of learning I had hoped for. Goodbye, Scratch. You're a major disappointment. You're not worth the headaches.
Scratch is a very nice site!
Its helps me code games, stories and contests!
The best part is you can remix projects others have made and share them.
I love scratch!
As a former user of Scratch, I wanted to say that the engine of Scratch is pretty amazing, and stuff like Turbowarp that extends on scratch is also pretty neat. The fact that you can create games and such is always a cool thing.
However the moderation is absolutely terrible, I got banned from accidentally doing something and the Scratch Team hasn't responded to me in a YEAR, not to mention that they pretty much ignore the community's requests and they don't actually listen to them because "we know what's best for the site" but no, if they actually knew what was best, they would of changed the moderation and try to at least keep the site running decently. Aside from the moderation, there's times where the site will bug out with projects not loading properly or not even just working, or even the site completely blacking out. Even the fact that they prohibited addons is just really terrible.
Another thing is that the algorithm for the featured projects is also extremely biased, like there's rarely anything unique about the featured projects and only once in a while you'll get something unique, but regardless it's only just generic, low quality platformers and animations.
I mean I love the engine, but I don't really recommend anyone ever joining this site, downlaod Turbowarp instead.
I was just scrolling through my friends profile Glimmerbury. When all of a sudden I click on one of her friends profiles and it tells me my network was banned. I've sent several messages through their contact us and email over 10 WEEKS AGO AND STILL NO RESPONSE! I would not recommend this site.
Sooo a Numberblocks fan days ago commented on my profile ASKING for my age. (They broke the Scratch Community Guidelines) And said they were 9. They probably got blocked for asking AND sharing personal info. I don't like how people read and BROKE the Community Guidelines. Scratch blocks/bans exist y'know... (btw i used they/them since i don't know the gender)
Scratch f#cking sucks! They ban people for garbage reasons! The community is mean and very naughty! Scratch team likes to ban people for fun and don't give a f#cking crap if they made a mistake! People cyberbully on scratch! People report projects and start a war! It doesn't let people use their real names in usernames! People of all race are not welcomed because people are making racist stuff about an asian name and mocking it and scratch doesn't see it as a problem! Scratch allows the use of private parts such as a peach or an eggplant which is very naughty and inappropriate! I hope scratch gets canceled cuz it does not teach anyone about coding! Instead it encourages people to cyberbully others, make fun of their culture or race, and start a war against each other and lets people gang up on someone! Hope this review helps us to get rid of scratch!
I love scratch since you can make, remix, share and lots more on it, including commenting and replying! Only thing is... Too many bullies and people are destroying this lovely site, and innocent people are being banned for no reason at all. Though, overall, it is the best site EVER. Btw follow me *******@TheManOfTheMan10 :) Usually I find coding with languages hard like C+++, Jave, Python... Scratch is the BEST AND EASIEST CODING LANGUAGE. Go now!
scratch.mit.edu GO MAKE YOUR ACCOUNT NOW. Until then, Scratch On!
By the way, I love coding in any language =-)
Scratch will remove your project regardless of if it is inappropriate or not if the project gets reported enough times.
As a scratcher named LarryMcCuteFace i enjoy scratch as amazing community coding for both children and adults. Many of my friends enjoy scratch not even realising they where learning. It is great.
Hey guys! I am a scratch user who loves to program. If you are familiar with "Studios", Great! But for those who aren't, it is basically a group that you follow and share projects in. One of the studios that I host is pretty important to me, so I created a project that would allow people to come in and check the studio rules and requirements. With all things, people find a way to abuse it. People started copying my project and posting it in other studios which it was not intended for, and so with that, I made a password for the project. This is not a personal password, this is one that only my studio members would know and be able to bypass. Scratch doesn't take the time to realize what they are doing so they stick a robot to supervise everything you are doing. In my case, the robot picked up on the word "Password/Code" and then suspended my account. Every time I go to my account, I'm not able to contact scratch for the misunderstanding, and I can't do anything. So basically if their robot is as stupid as it is, it will ban you for whatever it thinks it can. This is highly upsetting and now I can't use my account for school thanks to it. Thanks for nothing "Scratch cat" -- Pick a better name.
Pros:
-The coding is the best thing about, it started the block coding type of coding, which that is good;)
-Some projects are actually good and even if some are overrated trash animators, There animations are sometimes really really well done.
Cons:
-The scratch team can be a little crazy with there ban reason, THEY CAN BAN YOU BECAUSE OF SOMETHING ON THE FORUMS! But there's no trouble there.
-they banned scratchers because of the crummy scratchers wiki, photos are the pros and cons!
Thanks!
So im part of military rp and re talk about "napalming insurgents" and "biological warfare" all the time. I said the name of a HANDGun. The.44 magnum and got banned. LIKE WHATTTTTTT? I appealed an its been about 5 months and nothing. They are cruel, sociopathic, and HAVE ZERO REMORSE.
I loved using this website to make projects and it's sad that they won't do anything about the moderation. I got banned on scratch for doing things that i guess were kind of bad but definitely weren't bad enough to offend anyone who saw them. I made another account so that i could remix my project and continue working on it. My new account was not verified and i have not shared any projects or commented anywhere, the sole purpose was to work on my project while i was banned. They banned my new account. I appealed saying that i have not and was not planning on breaking the guidelines. I decided i would just wait out the ban on my main account so that i could continue working on my project after i was banned. They deleted the new account. I had spent at least 10 hours in total over the span of 5 days working on my project. To rub salt in my open wound, they also extended my ban to one year and upgraded it to an ip ban. I have no idea what i did to provoke this. They deleted all of my hard work for nothing. I never shared the project or commented anyway so i couldn't of done anything to break the rules. I only use scratch to make projects and now i can't do anything.
Spent lots of my time on a project and the account got deleted and i didn't do anything wrong. I don't think i will ever use scratch again. By the time i'm unbanned i will have a job. Got a one year up ban for making a project where you punch a realistic looking dummy, but it was clearly stated it was a dummy. No blood or violence and the skin was red and made of rubber
I attached an image of the reason i was banned, take a look at them and decide whether this deserved a one year ip ban or not. Keep in mind the top three was literally me just reporting inappropriate projects, i was helping scratch. The person i was reporting kept on posting projects that contained pictures of decapitated heads and cannibalism. The bottom three i commented on my own profile, and then deleted right after. I was just testing the message filter. Nobody could of saw them other than me, and even if they did, they were hardly offensive.
It's free, so I don't hurt a wallet. It's safe, so I can get banned for making inappropriate comments. But, the moderation. It's not a big deal, 4 stars.
Exactly as the title says; don't even bother.
The moderation team doesn't care a single bit about the website or people on it. Instead, they target the innocent people, while completely ignoring the others who have actually gone as far as to tell others to kill themselves.
The automoderation system is even worse, targeting people on false reports and being completely faulty; the most random words can't be said, you can't link any other websites, you can't say what timezone you're in.
Bans almost never make sense, and have the most random reason, and as said before, bans always target the wrong people.
All new features added to this website have always gone against what the people wanted; they're slowly but surely removing ways people can cooperate with one another, or just chat, or whatever they want to do.
So many of these features are never announced ahead of time, or asked if they would be good, they're just added and never removed as the owners don't care.
False bans don't even get looked into by the moderator team; they just don't care. They don't care about the children on the website. People can just create a new account to get around the ban too, and do it time and time again.
False reports don't get looked into; yet again, the moderation team don't care. Meanwhile, the important things such as sexual projects or roleplays are completely ignored.
Overall, the moderation team just don't care.
This website is not safe for people of any ages, especially not younger ones. Look for different coding websites, and look into the moderation and community before you join them.
They ghost the new players by not allowing them to ask any questions, Respond to them, Or even share. It's basically like while you are struggling to try to get to the top and you finally make a good project you can't even share it to the world and you are back to playing by yourself. It's hard and I really hate this system because they also keep asking for email which annoys me because I have a school computer and I can't use their password because I don't know it.It says 404 CaN't PoSt BeCaUsE yOu ArEn'T aUtHeRiZeD tO sEe ThIs PaGe which annoys me SO MUCH even though I am only a kid I bet you would hate this also but it has good sides too! The worst part is that I can't message them back about this because new players are ghosts so cons outweight pros. I would ask for my mom to put her email but she'd never EVER say yes. It's 45/100.
Answer: It's actually pretty easy. First of all, some people might be very mean to you and mass-report you (That's how I got banned) and then Scratch Team sees this. They don't take time to look at your history, they only see the mass-reporting problems. So then they ban you. Second of all, Scratch Team is super sensitive and kind of overprotective about their already decaying community. So whenever they see something that might harm people in a mental way or something that is "disturbing" to others, they'd ban you.
Answer: When it comes to server issues, Scratch is really trying it's best to keep up with it's servers, but there's way too many comments in their database, Scratch needs funding to resolve these issues to keep running.
Answer: Scratch's servers are trying to keep up, but they run with way too much information in their database. This could be fixed by getting rid of old data (not recommended) or rolling out the solutions they've done much to the hatred of users... Also not a good answer. Scratch just needs a lot more funding to solve this issue, so long answer short; not enough funding, and too much information in too small a database, leading to that in the servers.
Answer: It can vary. Sometimes it can take only one. Other times it can take more. It's not always good to mass report, though. It's more likely to be taken down if it actually breaks the guidelines.
Answer: Here's my list: If you got banned on the website ONCE, and you contact Scratch Team, you will MOST LIKELY get your account back if you agree to be nice again on the website. If you got banned on the website TWICE, and you contact Scratch Team, it's 50/50. It's a mix between MOST LIKELY and HIGHLY UNLIKELY to get your account back. If you got your IP Address banned, your siblings (If you have any) will get their accounts banned because they use your IP Address, and the chances of you getting you account back is BORDERLINE IMPOSSIBLE. You can't contact Scratch Team any way, whether using their contact email or just asking Scratch Team. You can't even comment on their Youtube Channel, because they disable comments on their videos. And, like getting your account back, contacting them is BORDERLINE IMPOSSIBLE. All this information was backed up by research. I've been on Scratch for 2 years, and was falsely banned, not once, not twice, but FOUR times! And I hate it.
Answer: Yup! You can make anything on scratch. Just make sure it is okay for younger children to see.
Scratch has a rating of 1.8 stars from 101 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Scratch most frequently mention new account, year olds and ban people. Scratch ranks 155th among Kids Educational Resources sites.
