December's Sakuraco box just arrived and is full of wintertime treats, inspired by the Hokkaido winter festival. It's a wonderful gift, can't recommend it enough!
Love love the matcha pudding. Saku Saku seaweed Cracker was really yummy as well. Everything was packed well, except for one jelly that leaked some syrup inside the box.
This is my second box and I am still in love! You get sweet and savory snacks that pair perfectly with the tea. It's been a great experience.
Every box immerses you into an aspect of Japanese culture and allows you to sample the food associated with that aspect. For instance, the very first box, in March 2021, exploring sakura season, almost made me feel like I was at a real hanami (flower viewing) due to the quantity and quality of snacks and tea packed into that one box. Every box since then has been equally "stuffed to the gills" with amazing snacks and teas, all of high quality, which is what I thnk makes Sakuraco stand above other similar subscription boxes (though, honestly, I don't think there's any subscription box like Sakuraco). My favorite part is the detailed booklet included in every box, containing articles about the companies which made that month's items, the history of the box's theme, and a description of the region most important to that theme or associated foods or celebration. Those glossy booklets, along with the accompanying beautifully illustrated postcard each month, are truly treasures to last for years. In fact, each box has so much packed into it every month, I'm shocked (but extremely grateful) it doesn't cost twice as much as it does! I'm so happy to have been with Sakuraco from the beginning and I can't wait to see where they go next!
Everything about Sakuraco is wonderful! Me, and my husband. Truly enjoy the box that come this month. Thank you so much sakuraco!
The selection of items provided in each box I have received so far is amazing. Really gives you a taste of Japan.
I ordered a 6 month subscription to Sakuraco back in April. Not realising it was an automatic renewal. So I was just resently charged again for another 6 months. And they refused to refund my money on a product that hasn't even shipped out yet.
It doesn't make sense to me that this would even be an automatic renewal. If I wanted 12 months of boxes I would have order their 12 month subscription and saved myself a few dollars.
On tho the products themself.
Their household goods are usually small and not very useful. What am I going to do with a bunch of 3" plates? ( which is the usual item.) I also wasn't attracted to the style of most of these good there was only 2/6 which I actually liked.
The savory snacks were never to my taste. Often being soy or seafood flavoured.
I only really enjoyed the mochi. They were really good and I wish I could find mochi like that around here for a more reasonable price.
The other sweet snacker ranged from good to just alright. Often being dry and/or bland.
This is the most beautiful curated box of Japenese snacks I have ever purchased. My box came beautifully packaged, very carefully intact. The box itself is so pretty, i dont want to throw it out. When you open it, a postcard welcomes you, along with a beautifully detailed booklet of the current month's theme (so far I have April 2021), from the history of the Japanese tea ceremony, to the beautiful pictures of the snacks and their explanation. I mean every penny is worth it. Its beautifully curated, and picked with intention. Some of these snacks are picked from local vendors in Japan, so you know you're getting authenticity while learning more about the Japanese culture and some of their snacks, tastes and flavors.
There was a particular part in the pamphlet where sakuraco asks Aziroan if they had a message for the Sakuraco family and they very sweetly said "... We've put our heart into making our signature kintsuba, and we hope that people all over the world will be able to feel the emotion, putting a smile on their face."
To me, I think that just makes trying the matcha kintsuba that much sweeter & thought sakuraco adding that message from the makers was such a genuine touch.
This is unlike any other Japanese snack curated box. Its a much refined, elegant, yet fun & lovely subscription box.
If this is just a taste of what's to come, I absolutely cannot wait to see what sakuraco has in store for its current and new subscribers.
A beautifully curated snack box that's both delicious and educational. It's a great way to learn more about Japanese snacks and culture.
Elegant snack box subscription with souvenir and reading. Much better than bokksu in my opinion. First snack subscription so I liked the cup.
The website is easy and fun to navigate, and the boxes are equally as fun to explore! I can't get enough!
Everything was just perfect and It did not disappoint one bit. Excited to see what's in store for the next box!
Just got my first box today, and I gotta say i'm really impressed with the amount of quality stuff they put in here! Love it.
10/10 will buy again. Everything seems to be so well thought out. The theme was Autumn Moon Festival
Amazingly unique and worth the money, includes plates and cups so forth of good quality, id recommend the box to anyone.
I wanted to share for you all my experience here. I looked at this and other reviews and agonized over the very high price point before purchasing a box. Especially with the converted Canadian price and shipping cost, this is VERY expensive for a small box of snacks ($50)) I eventually decided to try one and while it is quite a delightful unique offering, they lack severely in customer service and they are a bit dishonest and sneaky. It is very easy to accidentally sign up for a second subscription (when you think you are just extending your first one) and end up with two of the same very expensive box. And if you buy one month, it automatically renews you for a second one even if you start a 3 month subscription (like I did). For me this also didn't look obvious on their hard to find/navigate portal.
It's very difficult, contrary to what the FAQ says to find and be in the right circumstances to skip a box. And when you try to work with them on the fact that you have two of the exact same very expensive treat being packed to be sent to you they simply don't care and will not work to rectify the situation at all.
To me that's very dishonest and misleading and they seem to do it purposefully. I feel ripped off, and when I planned in my bidget and splurged, I was planning to pick 4 different boxed I thought looked most interesting, instead I have two of the same box and the September box shipped before I had a change to see what was in it and select it. And they basically said oh well too bad.
For this reason, as soon as my 3 box commitments are met I will not be renewing this service.
If you have lots of spare cash and aren't picky about maximizing your spend, skipping months etc. then the treats are mostly excellent and unique. But if you think you may need any complexity or this is a big financial decision, then I would not recommend this.
A really diverse range of snacks and tea so far. I've had two boxes so far, one themed around matcha, the other around Sakura. Both were delicious.
This is my favorite box so far! So many amazing high quality products! Receiving this box is the highlight of my month.
Answer: They are a legitimate company, but they do not have a refund policy and do not notify customers of automatic renewals.
Answer: I love the creatively curated themes and items in each box, and every month comes with a pamphlet not just talking about the products, but giving information on their importance to Japanese history and culture.
Answer: I have seen some reviews of bokksu but I haven't tried their box so can't compare.
