To tell the truth, I was a little disappointed in the March box. Everything tastes great, but I wish there were more sweets. Still very high quality so I send 3month gift subscription box to my daughters. They received April box and they told me it's so many items in Box. Yes, they are right, I received it the next day and surprised me that there were much more sweets than March box. I am so happy to order this subscription box for a year to myself. I'm Japanese old mama, I know good Japanese sweets very well. They did a pretty good job of collecting good real Japanese sweets in this box. Booklet is very nice too. It's beautiful and describes very well what we get and where it comes from. Also talk about Japanese culture and history. I highly recommend this subscription box for everyone.
The aesthetic is BEAUTIFUL, right off the bat. Even just the box itself is lovely. Each box so far has come with super cute dishes ( a tea mug and a plate), as well as a variety of delicious Japanese snacks and 1 traditional tea. The small snacks usually come in pairs, as well as the tea. There's a pamphlet that goes over what's in the snacks and the traditions behind the snacks and the people that make them. It's just so thoughtful and well put together, I love it.
This is a review of June's box and my first box. I thought they were presented well in a nice box and the information book was excellent. All items were fresh. My only real criticism is and maybe a culture thing, but there was not a lot of taste and although each item was individually presented they all were very much the same in texture and content. As l have stated this was my first box and l can't fault the company in dlivery, presentation or quantity and after three boxes then perhaps a better evaluation maybe ascertained on the content of taste and variation. This is very much a more positive review than a negative one
Amazing, beautiful snacks with flavors uncommon to where I am from. Definitely worth the money in my opinion. Absolutely adorable plate this month and the sakura tea is so pretty
I missed the first box, but I got the Matcha themed box. It's so beautiful, from the box itself to each individual item. Haven't had the opportunity to try all of them, but I've tried quite a few. They're delicious! I highly recommend. Shipping was also fast
The snacks themselves are alright. Month to month, you kind of get the same thing, just slightly different to match the theme of the new month. The ceramic you receive in each box is almost never worth it or as exciting as you'd hope it to be (it's usually something that feels and looks cheap, i. E. it's made out of plastic).
The bigger issue is that they don't warn you that they auto-renew your subscription, and they refuse to prorate the rest of your subscription. In other words, a full year's subscription is $540. They renew your subscription and charge you, and then the day after, they ship out the box and claim they cannot do a partial refund because the 1st box has already shipped-- it's bull$#*!. So you're stuck paying $540 for a prepaid service of $#*!ty, overpriced snack boxes that they somehow can't stop.
I received my April box in a timely manner and loved everything in it! There were so many items included in this box. I loved trying each one and experiencing the different flavors. I was not a huge fan of the plum tea, but it was my first experience with Japanese tea. I'm hoping that future boxes will have different and interesting teas for me to try!
They will direct debit from your account even you are subscribed for 1 month only. When I requested for cancellation of the order, they are reluctant to cancel it for me. I still haven't received the order (May 2023) I was 'forced' to pay automatically.
Yet to recieve box after 30+ days, no uptades on arrival time at all, total waste of 45 dollars. To make things worse they have an extremely shady cancellation policy, they charged for another box even tho i tried cancelling before a month had gone by, apparently you can't cancel within 48 hours of rebilling of your subscription. The site also makes cancelling the box very tedious, requiring the customer to scroll all the way down and manually write CONFIRM to cancel the subscription. Overall a bad experience, can't comment on the box itself as it hasn't arrived yet and doesn't look to be arriving.
I just started receiving my year-long subscription to this Japanese treat and tea box and it is well worth the full year subscription price; I had good experiences previously with Yume Twins so figured it was worth the risk! The treats are delicious and come with a very nicely prepared catalog with stories about each item, the teas quite good as well though slightly disappointed to have only two small tea satchels this month, but also a beautiful piece of ceramic ware thankfully carefully packaged each month; only reason it's not four stars is some of the treats get a little squished in transit and some have an outer coating that is somewhat styrofoam in texture.
Auto-Renewal plan is not visible before purchase. Once you miss the cancellation date, you are stuck for the next period. They make the cancellation as difficult as possible. I will take legal action.
Sakuraco (Tokyotreat) business tactics are shady and deceiving. They renew your plan without notifying you or alerting and there is nothing that gives you the impression that it will be renewed automatically. And even if you cancel the renewal on the same day, they will not issue any refunds. This is how they get your money, by doing dishonest practices. Besides, their boxes have longer shipping times than all the other snack boxes subscription, literally the worst. Get Bokksu instead, they know how to treat a customer.
I originally ordered a single box, just to see if I liked it-well, I did, and went for a 6 month subscription. I just got my second box, and have to say it is just amazing. I got an adorable bento box for doing the subscription-perfect for jewelry. And the food! I'm not a big eater, and not at all a fan of sweets, but I have to refrain from sampling every item right away. There are sweets, and lovely savory items-it's a great combination of treats that might last 2 weeks if I can be virtuous.
My first Japanese snack box Love the variety of goodies in it! I like how some snacks have direct connection with the festive themeCan't wait to try them all I kinda like that it comes with a little mini guide booklet that introduces on the snacks and some info about Kyoto as well as the festive season in Japan. I find it to be pretty helpful & informative. Definitely tick my interest to visit Japan someday! I'm also quite impressed with their shipping speed too as I wasn't expecting it to arrive within 3 days time. Overall a great first time experience with Sakuraco Look forward for more boxes with festive themes like this in the future!
Saw Sakuraco ad via my Tokyo Treat box and decided to give it a try as I love traditional japanese sweets.
Got April box. Unfortunately I'm not too fond of the inedible stuff like porcelains, and to make it worse, my cup was somewhat chipped below the sakura pattern.
Some cakes were dry as I feared, but over than half others were good and I actually did love some items.
In all, my first Sakuracobox was less satisfying than my first TT box, but I will still give it some try regardless.
I hope May box will be better experience. Still wishing we could trade the porcelains with more snacks instead.
I was given this as a gift and it is an incredible experience. It is a gift to both broaden your palette and indulge in the traditions of the specific prefecture. Learning about each snack item and tea truly filled more then just my belly. Everything about Sakuraco is wounderful!
Some of my cookie treats were broken, but the box was safely packed so I think it was before shipping. I loved the theme of this box, all the rabbits were adorable. My favorite were the rabbit gummies with the moon, such a nice texture and sweet taste.
I love how Sakuraco provide not only the delicious snacks but also with the little gift inside, it makes me really happy and this also perfect for gift
I love my Sakuraco box and am always looking forward to the next month's box! The shipping time for the boxes rivals even domestic shipping, which is impressive since it is coming from halfway around the world! I love the products, there is a great variety of traditional tea time treats that range from cookies, cakes, crackers, candies, pudding, tea and one homeware item. I would recommend this box to anyone who enjoys learning about Japanese culture and/or loves tea time.
I was so happy with my order at Sakuraco. I got a recommendation from a friends and I was not disappointed, it got shipped and delivered in just a couple of days and it had some really good sweets. It was also really nice to get the little booklet which had both information about the sweets and information about Japanese culture and why some of the sweets were in this particular box, really interesting!
This was the first box I received and it was better than I imagined! I can't wait to find out what's in the next box!
Answer: They are a legitimate company, but they do not have a refund policy and do not notify customers of automatic renewals.
Answer: I love the creatively curated themes and items in each box, and every month comes with a pamphlet not just talking about the products, but giving information on their importance to Japanese history and culture.
Answer: I have seen some reviews of bokksu but I haven't tried their box so can't compare.
