Cozy and warm flavours this month. I loved all the chestnut and sweet potato flavours, but it was the amanatsu jelly that stole my heart. I don't even like jelly normally!
I am signed up for a 3 month subscription, with my first month being the April: Matcha Moments. The shipping was very fast once it shipped, came within 2 weeks of shipping out. The amount of snacks and the size of the snacks are great. The smaller snacks come in a quantity of two and everything is described in the booklet including allergens which is just amazing. I saw that every box also comes with some type of dishware, I saw the March box was a sakura plate and my box came with a small sakura yunomi cup, which is like a tea cup minus the handle.
I just got my mochi and sakura tasting tour box today. Everything is a new experience! Love how detailed the brochure is in explaining each and every item, what it is, how to make it, common allergens and if it is vegtarian friendly. Would definitely reccomd this box as it is fun for a little family tea time and a great experience!
I love this box! I used to live in Japan and I really miss trying all the new and unique snacks that are available in the small towns as well as in the big cities. Some of my favorite snacks in this month's May box are the sakura sencha tea, sakura sable cookie, and the sakura mini baumkuchen. The cake is so moist and I loved it with the iced sakura sencha tea! Perfect on a hot summer day
Got my first Sakuraco box today! Delivery was prompt, and everything was packed beautifully. I'm already in love with the melon white chocolate daifuku.
We really enjoy getting our monthly Sakura Co box of goodies. The sweets, savory treats, tea and some item (plate, chopsticks). This month's plate was special- reminiscent of kintsugi craftwork.
Great range of snacks, quality items and comes with a little kitchen ware item each month. Definitely the snack box for you if you prefer cakes/mochi over prepackaged snacks like chips
I love my Sakuraco Snack box! The beautiful gifts are wonderful to receive in every box. The snacks are also yummy and I am looking to give them as gifts to my family. This month's box I received delicious treats. My favorite this month was the Minimini Chocolate Dorayaki, milk bell castella, Hokkaido melon jelly, Sweetcorn chocolate, Hokkaido milk Danish, honobono cheese cookie, etc. The entire box was Awesomely good!
The Sakuraco box July is wonderful trip to Hokkaido! I can't easily choose which item is my favorite, so I choose two! Melon soft sand was SOOOOO smooth and so intense Hokkaido melon filling, I LOVED It! Also, I absolutely loved Yawaraka rum raisin, it tastes so good, along with my tea, that moisture and aromas... mmmm! Looking forward for my august box!
It's pricey but the box reflects what you pay for!
Absolutely loads of sweets inside, a full colour plush looking booklet with little write ups on all the items and some very interesting information about prefectures and national holidays, a sweet little traditional print with a message from the sakura-co team on the back and a cute little rice bowl with Sakura print.
The shipping was timely and with no customs to pay! I was a little worried it would get stuck seeing as I'm in the UK and the box came from japan. (Which I was shocked about! I assumed it would come via America honestly)
I'm very impressed with the box! I've had Tokyo treats before now and had gotten bored with the sweets. I think perhaps I'd outgrown it as I'm much less interested in anime these days.
As I write this the box for next month hasn't been announced but I'm very excited to see what it could be!
If you're on the fence with buying and have a little extra cash around at the moment I'd go for it. I'm not disappointed in any way.
I ordered myself a box of Japanese snacks. Very tasty, I liked my order. I also really liked how everything is beautifully folded and the presentation itself! Thanks!
Just received my first box. There is so much variety. Everything came packed nicely. I was amazed that the delivery was so quick, even received on a holiday.
I was a subscriber of theirs for over a year. Now I was well aware that there was some price gauging involved but I was okay with paying extra as it came with fast shipping and reliable arrival time, in short I was getting the premium experience I was paying extra for.
Suddenly they decided that the express shipping we have been paying for is no longer a thing (but that we are still going to be charge the same amount for shipping) that they will now ship the box at whatever date and that we will get no indication what company is delivering the box or when it will arrive (it has been 2 weeks and still no indication of when I can expect the box I paid 63$ CAD for) and that they will renew our subscription without letting us know about that change. When contacted they either lie about being unable to give refunds or simply ignore you. They delete negative comments on their social media rather than give a response and they ignore legitimate questions from their customers. This company is horrible to deal with.
I love the variety of snacks, the home goods are adorable, and everything tastes really good! I also really like the history booklet and postcard! I'm thrilled I signed up for this!
I found Sakuraco from my friends and i tried to buy a box for my brother that love Japan's culture, and he loves it! Worth to try
The snacks all taste amazing and the acompaning book really takes you on a journey as you try the difference treats. It was an amazing activity to do with the entire family!
The items are very similar every month. After the second month I knew exactly what I would be getting in every box without any information. You will always get rice crackers, a type of cake and flavoured bread, cookies, jelly, and tea. The only difference each month is the flavour, whatever is the fruit of the season your box will be filled with items of that flavour. A lot of the items were just too sweet for me.
What is very shady about Sakuraco or TokyoTreats in general is they have AUTOMATIC renewals without any notifications or emails that they will renew even if your 3 or 6 month subscription is over. I cancelled my subscription right when I received an email that it has been automatically renewed. I contacted customer support right away and they refused to issue a refund or do anything about it. So now I am stuck with a very subpar 50$ CAD subscription for the next 6 months.
If you don't have positive comments in their community forums they will suspend you from the website. They don't value the opinions of their customers. I've attached a photo of a private message that was sent to me for having a different opinion. I said nothing rude or insulting to anyone in the chat or about the company.
They changed their shipping from DHL to some other carrier. So now the box takes 3 weeks to arrive instead of 5 days. Also, when I agreed to the subscription they said it was 25$ for DHL, so I was under the impression that my boxes would be sent by DHL, hence the extra 25$ shipping per box.
For Christmas last year, I ordered a 3-month subscription to Sakuraco for my parents and one from Bokksu for my sister. We thought it would be fun for the family to compare the from the two competing Japanese treat box companies. Overall, comparable in quality. But imagine my surprise when I found a receipt from Sakuraco for a second 3-month subscription - which I had not ordered nor authorized... and neither had a pre-emptive email come from them to warn of a subscription "renewal". When I wrote to ask, they said that their "subscription-based service and has auto-renewal billing", and furthermore, they were unable to effect a refund. To wit: if I had repeatedly wanted a 3-month subscription, I would have been fiscally smart enough to have done a 12-month or more subscription as pricing for longer-term subscriptions is far better than for repeated 3-month subscriptions.
By contrast, Bokksu has done no such thing, and only asked for a review of my 3-month subscription - totally by the book and above board. I am stunned at Sakuraco's fraudulent marketing and credit card charges and have informed my CC company. To consumers out there - do not support fraudulent marketing and pricing practices.
Everything since was amazing. Shipping was much faster than expected and everything was just great. Good amount of contents and even has its own little bowl
Answer: They are a legitimate company, but they do not have a refund policy and do not notify customers of automatic renewals.
Answer: I love the creatively curated themes and items in each box, and every month comes with a pamphlet not just talking about the products, but giving information on their importance to Japanese history and culture.
Answer: I have seen some reviews of bokksu but I haven't tried their box so can't compare.
Sakuraco has a rating of 4.3 stars from 146 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Sakuraco most frequently mention japanese culture, sakuraco box and high quality. Sakuraco ranks 27th among Food & Drink sites.
