I have been almost exclusively shopping RockAuto for vehicle parts for the last 5 years. My experience has been great! I constantly find a good choice of quality name brands to choose from and great low prices compared to anyone locally. I always get what I orderd and the few times I have needed to return parts, their return service is streamlined and simple to follow just keep original box parts came in. Really, customer needs to know what they are looking for when they buy. RockAuto isn't going to hold your hand but if you know what you want, you can find it.

I had used Rockauto.com for years but quality control has gone down hill, customer service is near nonexistent and if you want to talk to someone about customer service give it up. Got my last part from them end of January and arrived January. Couldn't install for 2 weeks and within 2 weeks the part which had to be repaired to use no longer worked. Purely insane BS now. They can count another customer lost.

RockAuto a few years ago used to be a good place. The interface is still nice. They have tons of different parts to choose from.
But recently their descriptions became not truthful and their matching capabilities became far from perfect. In addition they ship from multiple storages, so the shipping becomes quite expensive.
As an example, here are my two last orders:
In one case I ordered the oil filters, they claimed they should fit my car, but they didn't. So I ended up selling them on craigslist.
Today I received a 3 cabin filters, RockAuto in the description claimed they are charcoal filers (we have fires here), but actually these filters are cheap Chinese "you can see through the filter" type ones.
Of cause the return is not free, so I am sending it back just because I don't want to deal with it here. Again, I lost the money.
It is shame!

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
GET THE PART NUMBER, DO NOT TRUST THE CITE AND CHECK THAT IT IS THE PART YOU WANT, DON'T READ DESCRIBTION ON ROCKAUTO.

In ordering a part from this company the part sent was wrong. In contacting the company they knew the part was incorrect before they sent it. In returning the part the system for Rock Auto would not allow me to print a return shipping label. I had to return on my own with UPS costing me over $15.00. This was confirmed via phone call they made to me to return all of my funds in full for my shipping costs back to them. Today I get an email they will only return half the funds? This is lousy customer service. Tell your customer one thing then do something else that benefits the company and not the customer.

I ordered several parts over the last few weeks and many arrived in boxes that were already opened and contained wrong or other manufacturers parts.

I have used rock auto for 10 plus years never had an issue withparts or warranty the issues I did have where because of shipping ie fed x to be honest fed x sucks they always damage the package accept one time in 2014 they actually deliver it in good condition fair warning it's the shipper not rock auto I wish they would offer a different shipper that would be amazing ps I am a mechanic some parts can not be dropped like brake rotors and oxygen sensors

After every order placed with rock auto is automatically followed by phone calls about package at border and they want more money for border services or they say it contains something illegal and and arrest warrant issued. They want money or border services come to arrest you. This happens with every order from rock auto, is our personal information being sold to scammers? Every order is followed by phone calls, this is happening to others in small community in canadian rockies. Few old people order parts, everyone gets a call a few days later. Check your cards and info, buyer beware world.

I have been a Rock Auto customer quite a long. It offers many brand name and after market parts. I mostly received parts that fit; However, STAY AWAY from buying parts that are marked wholesale with attractive low prices. I purchased twice. Both order had either defective or wrong part #.

I've purchased from them several times before and was very satisfied with their products and service. However, this last time has been rather problematical. Ordered the part, used to correct numbers for the vehicle. Received shipment rather promptly, right part # on the box. (Water Pump for a 2002 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L) Part that's packed in the box is for completely different model. Now I understand mistakes happen. While very inconvenient as this sets things back a bunch, I'm pretty reasonable. I put in for return, it's accepted. But the return label won't print. Check printer, printer is working fine. Try several more times, still won't print label correctly.
So here's my problem with RockAuto. They have virtually no customer service. No one to contact to resolve problems other than than the automated on line CS. While I can forgive a mistake, their lack of ability to connect with their customers when mistakes happen have definitely created some trust issues for me. I would be very wary of ordering from them again and am now much less likely to recommend them.

Tip for consumers:
They only have limited automated customer service. Impossible to define any possible options other than refund or exchange. If you try to exchange and the product no longer in stock or if they send the wrong item again it's can be maddening as there is no one you can speak with to resolve.

The prices are good but there is no one speak with or even email about a discrepancy in my refund amount.

Tip for consumers:
Make sure it's exactly the part that you need because returns can be a hassle. I'm trying to find customer service to ask them why I didn't get my full return. There isn't anyone to ask, email or chat with online. It would have been helpful if I knew this ahead of time.

First of all it is a bit of a pain to make a return especially considering that in almost all cases ti is their fault in the first place. Second the parts quality, in my opinion, is hit or miss. I've bought items for a great price and quality was great and I've bought items that were not good. Also ypu need to consider shipping costs when comparing prices.

If you know exactly what auto parts you need or what is available, they are a good place to buy parts. BUT if you need any help what so ever you are screwed. 1989 Ford Ranger Ignition Control Module (ICM) has two connectors, they show one. BUT are clueless that there is even a second one. They are not a real parts store.

Tip for consumers:
If you do not know every aspect of the part you need, go somewhere else.

Battery core return charge such a hassle through RA, you just ending up eating it. Use amazon next time

Tip for consumers:
Too difficult to return a battery for the core deposit since they don't cover return shipping you eat the cost of the core charge.

May 27th I ordered a brake caliper from Rockauto because they advertised the fastest shipping time and I can't drive my car until the caliper comes in. I paid extra to have it shipped through DHL so that it would arrive no later than June 1st. I received an email from them on May 29th stating that the caliper had shipped with tracking information stating that it would now arrive no later than June 3rd (even though I paid extra to have it here June 1st). I tried to contact Rockauto by phone on June 1st but you can't call them apparently, you can only send a request. The tracking was finally updated June 3rd and it turns out that the item didn't even leave the warehouse until June 2nd (the day after it was originally supposed to be here and four days after they told me it shipped). The item is now "on hold" in Ohio for some reason and I live in Virginia. Not sure when it will arrive now. It doesn't do much good if they have lower prices but the item takes way longer than advertised to get to you. Doubtful I will use them again if there is any sense of urgency. EDIT: The item arrived on June 5th, four days after they said it would. I changed my review to three stars because the part was as advertised and the core return process was easy with just a reasonable shipping fee. They need to work on their shipping or at least be honest with the shipping date.

Sent part back that was incorrect. Went through the refund process, and paid for the return myself. 2 weeks later, I inquired about the return. I sent the part to the wrong address. I was told that because I sent it back to the wrong address I will not be receiving a refund. But the part was returned. The way I see it that rock auto is stealing money from their customers. Won't be dealing with rock auto no more.

Your parts are a great price and good quality but your customer service is not so great sent them a message over a week ago and still no answer plus I am not the greatest computer operator there are times when it would be better to talk to a real person

Used Rockauto for years for parts. Never had issues. Put 2 orders for parts in Saturday. Fed ex got one order to me Monday morning but other order coming dhl and will be lucky if I see it by Friday. And it's a smaller order from a closer state. Future orders will continue if coming by fed ex but if I see u.s. mail I'm canceling and ordering from ebay or amazom

Dealing with a dealer online is not a good way to communicate. Customer service should be handled by phone sometimes. I had a problem with them concerning a package that was not received. The value was about 9. Dollars. They shut the door on my nose after they let me know indirectly I was a thief. That was not right. I received packages with values exceeding $200 and never denied or claimed anything. Come on! Who would play games for a $9 value? Communicating online made things complicated unnecessarily. Finally, I found the missing package waiting at the post office. Rock Auto sent me a message saying it was delivered before I actually picked it at the post office. I was confused. At my house there was no delivered package. The email was saying it was delivered. Rock Auto is a good supplier in terms of price and speed delivery but they should improve in terms of communication. Online should not be the only way.

I order from Rockauto from time to time but shipping can be too much. Yesterday I put 8 items in my cart, pretty standard stuff like oil filters, total was almost $60 and shipping was almost $30. Shipping close to 50% is too much.

I have ordered many parts from rockauto in the past, this last time the shipping has been even worse than normal, which isn't good. They shipped about 10 items through Fed Ex and the rest through the post office. I have received all the parts from the post office within 3 days, the parts shipped through Fed Ex have trickled in, I have been waiting 11 days for several parts that were in stock, and shipped the same time as all the rest. Fed Ex is the worst shipping company on the planet, only thing I can figure is they ship real cheap for rockauto. That is really my only complaint, but to be honest the money you save buying through them sometimes isn't really worth it by the time you add the cost of shipping, plus the aggravation of the long wait for your parts. I can only recommend that rockauto find another shipping company that has their own employees instead of a bunch of sub contractors that work when they want.

For what they are and what they do, they are mediocre at best. Understand that they are not even knowledgeable about what they sell, they just sell stuff. The parts I have gotten have always been the correct parts, but I do my due diligence to cross-reference part numbers via many different sites. I do this not only for part fit, but for pricing also. Some times I have gotten parts that were obviously returned products from big chain stores due to defects (Broken brake bleeder in a brake caliper twice. Broken studs or missing nuts, etc... nothing that couldn't be repaired easily enough), Sometimes they may need some tweeking, shaving, or adjustment to fit right (body panels, interior switches, cosmetic things). All of this is the same thing I find with Amazon, Carparts.com, partsgeek.com, etc... So nothing astonishing. The Customer service is the main reason I will not shop there, and have not for the past 4 years. You cannot get in touch with anyone, and the customer doesn't matter. Except for Amazon, and very few other places similar to RA, you will pay shipping to return these things. Most times, you will be better off using them as a conversation piece to warn others of dealing with them. I have that wall of shame. Most of the parts have worked well and have lasted just as long as paying over double the price locally. Use cautiously and do your own homework to verify the proper part numbers, RA is not the only place selling these brands. They only sell things, they know nothing about car parts whatsoever! And that would be why they will not talk to anyone that does.

Ordered a set of struts for my Toyota Tacoma. Received the shipment in two days but was shorted mounting hardware for one of the struts.its been a week and a half and I am still waiting for the hardware the told me they we going to ship out to me.

I personally have had a good to fair customer experiance with Rock Auto. I like the ease of part lookup, I like the usually low prices, I like the quality of the parts I get, They have treated me well on returns and refunds. The one thing I hate about their site is, I cannot get the tracking info on my part easily and quickly. You should be able to get your tracking info on your order in three to four mouse clicks, without having to enter a damn thing. With Rock Auto, you really need to print out each one of your orders or at least scribble down the order number. Now I shop humdreds of web sites, Top of the list is Amazon, Ebay, Mouser Electronics, etc. etc. Getting the tracking info on any of these sites is a snap, no more than four mouse clicks and you know when your item is going to arrive. I would give Rock Auto feedback on this but, the only way I can see that you can do this is to call them. I plan to call them today and give them this advice, this is my only real complaint.

I am buying parts at rock auto again, I guess only because of the prices on some things.
But I'm planning ahead so that I know the parts will be here before I need them.
So I guess my advice is, if you have time you can save some money buying from rock auto
If you're broke down and need it fixed right away, go to your local parts store.
Also be sure that you're ordering the right part
If you order the wrong one you're probably going to be stuck with it.

I ordered parts for my truck
They look like they were damaged in shipping I contacted rock auto
They started the process to replace the damaged parts
I was told the new parts would be shipped immediately which which they did not ship until the day before I was supposed to have them which is today (Dec 1,2017)
So as Im sitting here I still dont have my parts
So tomorrow I will be going to local auto parts place buying the parts I need and installing them and then I will proceed to fight with rock auto to take the parts back which Im sure I will get nowhere and will be stuck with.
I have bought parts from rock auto since 2009 unless something changes with the customer service this will be the last order for me.

Have received a few items that where made outta low quality material but for most part happy continue to use them for our car parts alot of fair quality parts as well
