I bought two $25 certificates from them initially and just to found out later that the restaurant wouldn't except them. Now restaurant.com wouldn't refund my money any more!

Mi Tierra on Rayford absolutely the WORST Mexican Food I have ever eaten. Beef Fajitas, charro beans, refried beans, chips, guacamole, pico de gallo and salsa absolutely no taste at all and the beef was DRY. Won't even give the a 1 out of 5. Wasted my money and it wasn't cheap. Don't go there. Pappasito's Mexican or Guadalajara's from now on.

The restuarants listed on there website do not accept the coupons that are offered on Restuarant.com. I spoke to the owner of La Cocina De Balam in Santa Fe. Mr. Lemus, the owner, informed me he does not accept Restaurant.com coupons. He also stated he informed Restaurant.com to remove his restaurant and they still have not complied. Mr. Lemus and I will contact the State General Attorney. Restaurant.com is beyond fraudulent and should be shut down! You have are warned... do not do business with Restaurant.com!

Awful
November 25, 2020

Awful! I got a gift card and it has been so awful! You only get $5 certificates which don't even go to the restaurant. Do not use or get this gift card! Waste of time and money!

What a waste of $25
August 10, 2018

I bought $25 cert for a local restaurant that is now no longer a member of the restaurant.com site. So I redemmed my cert for a gift card (which is just about as useless as this cert).
I'm in the San Diego area, most all of the participating restaurants have a min $$ you have to spend (in cash) in order to use the certificate. Ok, this might be okay if I was looking to get a discount of a $150 dinner. But most of the participants are mom-and-pop shops (ie, indian, pizza, tacos and the like...) so when I have a $25 cert, and MOST of the require $30-$75 min purchase inside, somehow the math seems to favor large parties or catering and not the average joe who's looking to save a few bucks on a meal.
IMHO, restaurant.com is a failing business that was, in the beginning, a good idea, but they made it too expensive for retailers and consumers to participate.
I won't say "never again", but I won't be referring anyone (I'll actually be doing the opposite) until they figure out a way to save ME money.

I bought a $25 gift certificate that stated a minimum purchase of $20 along with a couple of other restrictions. After I completed my transaction, I went to print it, and it stated I had to have a minimum purchase of $50! Now that is FALSE ADVERTISING and HIGHWAY ROBBERY! I know they will not give me my money back now, but it was only $4 so it isn't a huge deal. Just know to run the other direction when dealing with restaurant.com (HUGE SCAM)

Fool me once shame on me but never again. I bought the Restaurant.com gift certificates on the recommendation of a friend. As another reviewer pointed out, these are NOT gift certificates. They are discount coupons. My first disappointment/frustration came when I began looking for restaurants where I could use them. If all you eat at are fast food/low-end chicken or mexican food joints then you're all set. When I did find a place I liked that was part of the program, I discovered you don't just take your cute little plastic gift card in to be swiped at the time of the meal. You have to go to the site and then print out a coupon to take with you. That's fine if I'm at Red Robin but I was a bit uncomfortable slapping a coupon down on the table of an upscale eatery. And yes, the exclusions on these coupons are OUT OF CONTROL! I have used only one of the three $100 cards I purchased. I just don't have the energy to jump through the hoops that Restaurant.com requires. On the bright side, I only paid $16 for them so I'm not out a significant amount of cash.

In my opinion, great for families with young kids trying to save a few bucks and are willing to do what they have to for the savings. Not for couples or individuals looking to save on a high-end dinner.

I was given a $25 gift card to this site. Even though we eat out a lot, I was unfamiliar with all but two of the 26 participating restaurants within a 15 mile radius of my zip code. Of those two, one was an Italian restaurant whose entrees started at close to the full value of the gift card. The other was a reasonably priced BBQ place, so we chose to print our gift certificate for it. Imagine my surprise when I discovered we could only redeem our $25 gift IF we SPENT $37.50 there! Call me crazy, but if you are FORCED to SPEND MONEY in order to use a GIFT CARD, then it's NOT A GIFT anymore!

This is a rip off. Ironically, I got a $50 card for joinging BJ's so I thought the fee was worth it. I also think BJ's is a rip off. I expected to be able to pick a restaurant and use the entire $50.00. No! The only local restaurants either limit you to using only one $10 certificate per visit per month or limit you to a $25.00 certificate but require you to spend $50.00 This is no deal and only makes you spend money you normally wouldn't have spent. Groupon is a much better deall Also, most of the restaurants listed were in Philadelphia -- so you either have to pay to park and go over the bridge or pay to ride the train. Grrrrrrrrr

Complete Ripoff
December 29, 2017

Bought 2 tickets to two different restaurants through my job. When i tried to use one of the certificates i was told by the owner that hey had cancelled their account more than a month before my visit and would not be accepting the coupon. I bought the certificate a day before my visit. When i requested a refund restaurant.com says they do not issue refunds. However THEY DO SELL CERTIFICATES THAT CANNOT BE USED. They basically stole my money.

No one wants to offer their certificates because they screw their actual clients! Stay far away from them if they call. It will cost you thousands if you are a business owner!

Garbage
January 9, 2017

That's where you might as well put the card/certificate, right in the garbage. Absolutely useless. Hopefully no one gives you on for a gift cause you will think those people hate you.

I've used them for years. I'll skip the obvious stuff and give the bits that may not be obvious.

The fact that their coupons never expire is great. That means that you have to keep track of them and exchange them, but if you persevere, once you have a pool of coupons you can stop buying any and just move around your credits.

Always check that the restaurant will accept the coupon in advance. I can't tell you how many times I have found a neat restaurant, bought and printed a coupon, and headed there during its stated business hours to find a vacant building (the restaurant failed a year ago), or been told by a sneering host that "they don't take those things any more". I'm not a restaurant, but I've heard they pressure the restaurants pretty hard, and it is a better deal for the consumer than for the restaurant past the early days where the restaurant is new and needs to promote.

Their web site is terrible. In theory it is well-thought out, but is often too slow to use, or just buggy. If it works, great, it can do almost anything to help you organize your coupons or find restaurants. Open one window there, another with Yelp, and go research your area for bargains.

Watch the fine print. Holidays, no way. If it says you have to spend $50 to use a $25 coupon, does that include what you spent on your drinks? Probably not. Watch if it only for dinner, or doesn't apply for specials. Read the restrictions very carefully, And watch your bill, in some cases they add the tip in, and if you aren't careful you can tip twice.

But overall, if you are careful and methodical, it's great.

What a joke. It's been two weeks now trying to get customer service to just RESPOND to me about a voucher that should have $40+ on it, but shows a zero balance. A waste of money and time!

They scammed me too

They scammed me too. I thought this would be a gift certificate and after I purchased it I found out that it is coupons off of meals, and you can only use one coupon per visit.

Overall, I've have had a great experience using restaurant.com. For more than 2 years.
However, We went to visit Paracho Restaurant in Riverside fir the first time because they were in Restaurant.com (and because they had indoor dining). Unfortunately, they didn't validate our certificate. Our server didn't even know about Restaurant.com (poor training). She said to wait for her supervisor. We had to wait about 10-15 min as she said her supervisor was in break (she was at a table by the bar) when she came she said she called the owner and he told her they were no longer with Restaurant.com. She told us he told her he had asked Restaurant.com to be removed. However, 5 days after they're still showing on their website. I asked her to ask him to validate our certificates for this time as we were first time customers. But she said she had already asked him. I guess they feel they can afford to loose new customers.
Food and service is good (3/5). Food price is fair but drinks are pricey. The restaurant needs to be more clean. There were dirty tables when we arrived.
I need a Refund and you should Add a REPORT RESTAURANT option.

All my experiences with this website have been a hassle albeit I did find ONE amazing restaurant that I frequent (Aladdin in North Palm Beach). 1 restaurant was closed down, one outright refused my gift certificate (even though all the terms were met), another restaurant it Took 4 times of going to redeem my voucher and the last meal was awful, I recently almost bought a gift certificate then found out the restaurant is CLOSED but still listed on restaurant.com's website (as is another CLOSED restaurant). Then I tried to exchange a voucher that was refused; only to have the captcha refused SEVEN times. Now surely I can make one or two mistakes but not seven. Saving a few bucks via this website is NOT WORTH THE HASSLE... I PROMISE YOU!
