Very rude, difficult to deal with. They make me want to quit camping! The invisible jerk on the other end of the line.

October 16, 2020

Going from one step to the next to reserve a site. Page won't refresh. I have missed many site reservations because of this problem. WHY SO DIFFICULT?

Total Incompetence.
September 6, 2020

Didn't update my reservations on website, all of my old ones and canceled ones were there, But, current were not. Used chat line, whew what a mess. Gave them the same information several times, reservation number, State and Park name, they kept saying they didn't understand me, After an hour they finely connected me with Linda who told me I had to go to the States Park website to confirm the reservation, No explanation, no help as to why, Terrible

WOrst website ever
August 6, 2020

After spending 2 hours trying to reserve campground in Illinois I have to give up. Can get to the payment page over and over again but site just loops back to same page. There is no problem with my credit card. Of course there is no alternative so I won't be going on trip.

It doesn't make sense that Gov. Cuomo allows this company (Reserve America) to continue to be the agent for the State of New York for on-line reservations of camp sites. Gov. Cuomo is usually very keen on what the state provides as far as services are concerned, and he has done an excellent job in pushing his executive agencies to provide the best there is, but the Reserve America on-line platform is antiquated in so many respects. One only has to read the reviews of the service as a start to see how bad the program functions. It is so difficult to navigate the system to make a reservation. So much so that you have to wonder whether it is intentional. Meaning, the State may have made the decision to continue using this system because it would be too easy for the majority of the citizens of this state to make reservations thereby depleting the inventory of available campsites too quickly. That is mere speculation, but what I do know is that the current system is totally in adequate in today's world of tech savvy citizens.
Please change to a new reservation provider!
Thank you,
Mike N.

This website is extremely difficult to use. There is NOTHING easy about using it. After several attempts I finally got a reservation to go through but later found out it was in the wrong camp area. It took me two hours of telephone time to finally talk to a person to change it. And of course there was a $5 charge for simply changing the camping area. I don't know if there is a way to make a reservation At an Indiana State Campground. Without going through Reserve America. They must have gotten the low bid and you get what you pay for plus an opportunity to be ripped off. I would have given it no stars if I could.

Tried making a reservation using their site, long lag and nothing seemed to actually go to the next step unless you hit refresh each time. Really! I tried calling their 800 number and that was as useless as the website, was on hold for over 30 minutes with the automated message telling me I was the nest in line... 8 times? I ended up hanging up. I finally got the reservation done but even then it took like 5-10 minutes to even get a confirmation email. Any and all state parks in the USA should fire this piece of crap website. Totally frustrating and useless!

I made my reservation for Nickerson Park in Cape Cod 8 months ago then because of covid-19 they canceled them so I proceeded to call them and tell them I no longer have the gift card that I made the reservations on but they told me that's what we put it on I said but I don't have it anymore in fact I cut it up because it was empty and I made the reservations 8 months ago and you couldn't reload it. I can't get any help from the gift card company because I don't even remember the numbers from the card. And Reserve America has all that information but won't give it to me and they said well we did our part and credited back $288 and I've been on hold repeatedly over the last month probably a total of 20 hours I get anxiety thinking about calling before I call I have to because I know they're going to tell me the same thing they tell me all the time we opened a case for you and they said they credited your credit card and I tell them I know that and then they say to open a case for me I said but you already did I gave you a case number at the beginning of this well this is your new case number. I can't believe they're keeping my $188 usually I see businesses and they'll respond to reviews but I notice on this they don't respond at all and you know what you're right why did a private Company by the state forest and Parks I'm going to find that out there's something up and I'm getting my money back they better believe it I'm not the one!

Robbery
June 18, 2020

Had to cancle my stay in an Idaho SP due to Corona. They charge 10$ for the reservation and 10$ for cancellation. Nearby NPs are more customer friendly and waive the cancellation fee. Cancellation was quite an adventure and required me to finally make a long-distance call from Europe as all e-mail remained unanswered...
Abusive monopoly...

Reserve America is horrible. The geniuses amended their reservation website in response to COVID and now have 2 calendars; 1 for 2020 and 1 calendar for 2021. Very confusing... their dysfunction website cost me $14.50. What they term a " cancellation fee". ATTENTION all government contract officers. When these idiots bid on your service contract remember it's the lowest QUALIFIED bidder! Reserve America is NOT QUALIFIED

Thieves
May 20, 2020

I made several reservations in New Mexico for overnight camping. Since New Mexico will not allow overnight camping at its state parks, the reservations were cancelled by reserveamerica. Why is reserveamerica keeping my transactions fees? That is wrong. I didn't cancel the reservation... they did. They reimbursed the camping spot fees, but not my transactions fees. I can see if I cancelled the reservation, but THEY cancelled it and are now keeping my transaction fee. Sent an email asking them, but of course no response. Bunch of thieves.

How stupid are you people at Reserve America? Every other business I deal with (my bank, my grocery store, my cell carrier, etc.) is bending over backwards and even cancelling totally legitimate fees for their customers. But Reserve America actually feels that it is good business sense to STEAL the $12 reservation fee (which is ridiculously high to begin with for the service you are providing) from people that are having their reservations cancelled by the government during an international crisis. Congratulations on being penny wise and dollar foolish. I have used RA for years (typically at least a dozen reservations a year) and know many people that USED to use RA. I will never use Reserve America again, even if it means that I am spending the night on the side of the road. Everyone I know is of the same mindset. These customers are lost to you and WILL NEVER RETURN. You should be ashamed of yourselves. The solace I take from this is that with this level of idiocy, your company will surely go bankrupt soon.

Reserve America is a group of thugs and thieves, credit card scam artists that are easily researched on line. They are affiliated with match.com and other rulers of high margin online systems. The root of the problem is that their membership plans, fake plans existing only for the purpose of hitting your credit card, are so profitable and successful to the gov employees and powers that be (by bribes in multiple forms) they have become an incurable cancer.

Sooo dishonest
March 27, 2020

Thought I was making a reservation for a state campsite in Florida. Turned out, I found a better campground before I even made the reservation and backed out of the website.

The next day, I did go into the original campground to look around and was told they never had any availability and had been that way for weeks. The park ranger said that many people who thought they were making a reservation through reserveamerica.com were nefariously being lured to a membership obligation by using the RA America app.

I cancelled 4 nights in Washington DC due to all the COVID cases. Every tourist site announced closings everywhere... I was going for the sights. The RESERVE AMERICA THIEVES stole $60 to cancel. ABSOLUTE inhuman organization. I will never book through them again. Bull Run Regional Park in Virginia should be ashamed to use this dispicable reservation agent! SHAME on both of you!

THE ABSOLUTE WORST EVER!
January 30, 2020

What kind of reservation company asks you for your equipment type and length, then gives you options for 2 sites, and after booking the sites and reading the fine print, realize they rented you a site 13' too short! Then, refuses to give you your money back? This is ridiculous! I don't know how many states they are in, but it's no wonder no one wants to go to New York!

Arbitrary, heavy handed fees... no flexibility... no consideration of extenuating circumstances! All in all, if this outfit is how I have to make reservations for state parks in Florida, it totally eliminates any thought of a state park in Florida for me! I absolutely abhor doing business with people like this! Adios R/A... enjoy the $50 you made off me... it'll be all you ever get... for damn sure! What's the point of this booking site Reserve America? I was closely monitoring a campsite in a campground I favor and in milliseconds the campsite went from not available to booked for two weeks. After a career in computers I know perfectly well that people out there are using computer programs to launch inquiries that can grab a reservation in milliseconds.
How does the average Joe compete with this. Better question is... of what use is Reserve American to us?

These people are pure evil. I'm a software architect, and I'm pretty good. I could spin up an application that did the same thing better, by myself, including all necessary data hooks and transformations within 6 months from the ground up. Now some fat, corporate middle-man, who got this contract because he knew someone and the bid was tailored to his company is sitting back and getting fatter off good people making use of the best thing this country has ever done. Burn it to the ground. This corruption is everywhere. You should be freaking MAD.
