Remitly is operated by a bunch of incompetent clowns. I sent a transfer but made a careless type fault. Instead of typing the number ending by...557 I inadvertantly typed...558 meaning that the recipient's name and the phone owner's name were totally different yet the transfer successfully proceeded. When I quickly notified Remitly, they simply stated that the transfer was successfully completed thus they couldn't reverse it and refund me. Upon my insistance, they finally promised they would contact the financial institution urgently for a reversal. It's been 2 months and haven't seen the least penny back despite a bevy of customer service reps telling me I'll be refunded. Instead of paying reps to inanely utter prefabricated affirmations you should invest on systems and reps that can spot the difference between a transfer recipient's name being Jane Murray and a phone owner named Patty Jones(fictitious names). My 4 year-old niece noticed the difference in about 3 seconds. You should be ashamed of pretending to be a credible money transferring company. You are only dimwitted wannabes. Never again will I use your services and made it my duty to convince everyone who needs to send/receive money to go out of their way to avoid dealing with crappy amateurs like you.
After I closed my account with them completely an agent had the nerve to call my phone at 4AM in the morning my time! I got extremely upset and asked him very loudly if he knew what time it was on my end! He had the nerve to say that he's not sure because he's calling me from outside of the USA... NO $#*! SHERLOCK! They are extremely incompetent, rude and extremely dumb to say the very least! They will get a major lawsuit one of these days!
I place an economy transfer with them and got an email a day before the due date that its been delay and they are going to remove the service fee ( there is no service fee if you send over 1000$ lol staff need to get educated) then the next day i call ask again and got an email " your transaction has been cancelled because the bank declined our request to debit your account". WTF? The same bank which is always accept the request for express transaction and now declined the economy transfer? I ask the bank and they advice there is no issue from there end. So what Remitly is doing they like express transactions cuz they give you low currency rates and make more commission on the other hand on economy transfers they loose and that is the reason they make lame excuse that bank declined the transfer.
I am still waiting to retrieve $1158AUD since September 21, for a "declined" transaction! They keep telling me that my bank is holding the money "pending" the transaction. Westpac Australia tells me, unequivocally, that the money has been paid to Remitly. Remitly WILL NOT refund me my money for a DECLINED transaction. These people are thieves and crooks. Don't use this platform. Save yourself a heap of time, energy and stress.
They shouldn't do business in USA. They are asking way too many personal questions for sending money to my parents. They want my bank statement, why i am sending and how often will I and all stupid questions. They should be banned from doing business in USA.

They will control your transfers - they will block them based on the particular person subjective experience if the transaction is authentic or not.
They will not tell you why they they block your transaction. They will keep you online for ages messing around asking many personal bizzare questions which does not prove anything.
When I looked at the site it looked very promising, I created a account and just did my first transfer, it got suspended and the next thing I know was my account got suspended, and said that my account looked fraudulent, I have been using other modes of money transfer without issues for the last years and I can bet that I never did any fraudulent activity. I tried chatting with the customer care they just said "we are sorry your account has been suspended" and asked me to read their Rules and regulations which I never understood. Anyways my money is safe never will again try Remitly for sure.
I sent some money to Bangladesh and receiver didn't receive money and i tried to contact customers support team but they didnt refund my money yet. Very poor customer support and will not do any transactions in future.
I tried to send a friend money last month, they took my money and then cancelled my transaction and said I had to send them a bank statement, I asked to cancel and get a refund but they kept transferring me to other operators and no one gave me a straight answer about my refund. It has been a month so I just called to ask when they will refund me and they put me on hold for 45 minutes then someone called me and said they suspended my account and Itjey kept my money I won't get it back!? Don't trust them I have to report fraud on my card now with my bank I'm scared for my security now. Don't trust them. Very illegal and shady how they act.
Really bad service, worst of the worst experience. They suspended my account for no reason, ive been using my account normally. But just in time that i need to send money urgently for hospital bills, they delayed and daelayed the transaction and ending up canceling the transaction and worse suspended my account. It gives me very bad anxiety as i needed the money to be tranferted urgently, now i cant even use other methods because they got hold of my money. What an actual SCAM. Ruthless! Dont entrust your money with them, save your sanity as well. Stay away from them.
The customer service at Remitly basically does nothing. They are useless. I have asked them several times why my transaction is on hold and all I get is just transferred from one chat department to another. And their wait times are so long. And their website doesn't work. They give too unfair exchange rate. There are many other remittance company like ACE, world remit, skrill who give really high exchange rate.
They give too much advertisement everywhere. Thats why they give too unfair exchange rate too make profit.

Horrible Process & customer service - I just tried to transter fund and apparently remitly closed my account. I called customer service and they said they closed my account(Didnt even gave me any reason). I said I can provide any required documents (license/bank statements etc.) but the agent said the decision has been made and please use other money transfer compnay. Its such a horrible customer service from them
Whenever you send a small amount 10$, the transaction will go through. However if you are sending more than 500$, the money doesn't get to the person you are sending money. I have been calling Remitly customer service about the money I sent, they blocked my number! I repeat REMITLY IS A SCAM. Do not use.

I was scammed and the scammer tried to send to the money to India. Remitly flagged it as possible fraud and communicated with me. Once I confirmed the fraud, they refunded my account within 12 hours. Couldn't ask for better service.

I have been using this service for a year and suddenly they decided to deactivate my account for no valid reason. After getting all my money and using their services, suddenly deactivated fo absolutely no valid reason!

My advise do not use Remitly to send money I sent 500 usd from my own Citibank acount to my south American own acounts and it's the worse experience you can go through I've so mishandled that I can't explain you. I've used transferwise always and in less than 1 hours funds are in every acount I was tempted to try because of the exchange rate believe me don't go there
