Outdated features. Rude customer service. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!
Domain transferring features are absolutely terrible. LEVEL 1 support is a waste of time and has no idea how the DNS layer operates.
I received an email from register.com claiming my site had a trademark infringement. The trademark they cited is not on my site anywhere that I can see. But they suspended my site and kept saying I had to remove the offending content. At least 3 of their support reps confirmed my site does not contain this content. But I continued to be told by their "abuse" team (interesting name for it ad I feel they abused me) to remove it to get my site turned back on. Then I was told my site had been hacked and I needed to pay them $200 to have it cleaned. Of content their reps said wasn't there. But the fine print on that service says they cannot 100% guarantee that all malware will be found and removed. Then on another call I was again told the offending content wasn't there and that my website would be turned back on and the abuse team would call to apologize. The site was turned on but I was sent another email stating I need to remove the offending content within 48 hours. I spoke to more than a half dozen reps and got a different story every time, and no one did what they said they were going to do.
I finally said just cancel my service, I am going elsewhere. But I had just renewed 2 months ago and I asked for a partial refund. I was told I would get it by the rep on the phone. A few hours later I got an email saying sorry we are not going to do that. Again, they say one thing and then do another.
Stay away from these crooks!
Absolutely one the worst companies to work with. I've tried 4 times to transfer a domain and it is still not completed. Each contact I'm assured it will get done. The only thing I get is more emails trying to sell me something. They're great at taking my money but zero help when you need to get something done.
Register.com is the worst domain name registrar I've ever experienced. The service is unreliable, their customer service is outright horrendous and their tech support is incompetent, understaffed or both.
I had the displeasure of trying to resolve a DNS propagation issue with Register.com. Every customer service representative I spoke to had different excuses and details. They constantly misled us about the progress of resolution and kept back the timeframe. No details were ever explained, Customer Service continually provided vague explanations such as "This has been escalated to Senior Admin." When I asked to speak to a manager I was treated with hostility. The DNS propagation was was supposed to be resolved in 24-48 hours. As of this review it is 120 hours. Our business got to a point where we had to transfer our domain name registrar. At that point they stopped work completely.
Regarding the transfer of our domain name registrar, ICANN standards are 5-7 business days. Register.com Customer Service team told me that our domain would be released in 7-10 days, a clear violation of standards.
I am billed weekly for services that I did not authorize or understand. Customer service is a complete joke. Worst company of all time.
I've used GoDaddy, Weebly, and others. This is the worst by far. The support is even worse. Don't use it
I am a small business owner. I purchased a domain name in June and I began to pay for a security certificate. In November I started to pay for hosting. It never worked right. There was always something going wrong. After six weeks of being bounced around from agent to agent, I found out from Adobe Portfolio that I never needed to buy hosting or a security certificate from Register as Adobe provides both for me. You would think that someone at Register might know that, but no. Every time I spoke to Register I dealt with another person who only knew what went on in their department. No one could look at the big picture and help me figure out what was wrong. There was no continuity in the customer service I received and no refunds and I am still getting emails about needing a CSR for the security certificate I no longer have!
1st - I had months down with my Biz Email when they switched servers and had set up a system that even IT Tech would have problems navigating.
Today I found after ~ 15 years having a Biz Web Page through them. They deleted it@ www.savemoneyonenergy.com
They send almost daily request for renewal of services & many I had years ago, so they said they sent me an email 1st in ******* saying my Web Page was in danger & when push to a supervisor, this changed to Oct 2023.
This Nov I called and asked which renewal did I still need that were Critical & paid for those.
Now they are saying I should have paid for Web Page Site Renewal and after 15 day the Web Page contents get deleted.
I spent a year making my Page & took them just 15 days to Delete it! JUST WOW...
I need to find a Lawyer, for they DID NOT do "Due Diligence" making sure I knew my Web Page was in danger of deletion.
Instead they sent 1 email, they admit I did not even open. Yet they send up to 10 a month begging for Renewal Monies.
I wish they has 1/2 Star...
I was exploring purchasing a range of products for a new company from domains to websites, emails, etc. I wanted more information about the different ecommerce options, so I tried the chat feature and was connected to Chaithra.
Chaithra is completed uneducated about the products on Register.com. She could not answer simple questions such as what marketing platforms are included with the premium service. She refused to transfer me to a supervisor. She tried to pass me off to another team claiming they were open, but I called while still in the chat with her to find they had closed over 2 hours earlier. She acknowledged later that she was aware of this situation.
I repeatedly asked for the end-of-conversation survey I was told she would send when I realized she couldn't help me. It's more than 20 minutes later, and she refuses to send it because she knows I will leave a negative internal review.
Clearly I won't be using your service since the customer service is completely unprofessional, dishonest, and untrained. This site needs to thoroughly reconsider the people they are employing and the lack of training provided to them.
After over two decades of being a loyal customer of Register.com, it's with regret that I find myself needing to share a less than satisfactory experience. My journey with their services took a downturn starting from an SSL issue early in the year, which, despite numerous calls and assurances, remains unresolved to this day.
I reached out to the support team multiple times, only to be shuffled from one representative to another without any concrete resolution. The so-called 'expert team' in the USA even declared the issue resolved in an email which clearly, from my ongoing struggles, it was not. When I sought to cancel the service and requested a refund for the undelivered services, my plea seemingly fell on deaf ears.
To add insult to injury, a separate issue with an outdated SSL certificate has disrupted my ability to receive emails for an extended period, further impacting my business operations. A ticket (I*******) was raised, yet I was informed no action had been taken. I was also told I could not receive written confirmation of our conversations nor any acknowledgment of the support provided, leaving me with no paper trail to back my claims.
The inability to secure a refund or even an acknowledgment in writing from Register.com is not only frustrating but feels dismissive of my long-term commitment to their service. The lack of accountability and transparency is concerning, and I urge potential customers to consider this experience when choosing a hosting service provider.
I am now in the process of closing all services with Register.com and wish to caution others. The once dependable and customer-focused service I knew has regrettably declined, and it is important for others to be aware of this before making a decision that could impact their own web presence and business.
This is the absolute worst hosting platform I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. Their service doesn't work at all and when you try to fix this they tell you that you can pay them to help you OR pay Wordpress to troubleshoot it.
They don't have a c-panel so GOOD LUCK getting anything meaningful done.
Their customer service is so slow that you either give up or just call them.
Go with ANY OTHER provider, or have fun throwing your money away.
I just killed the email account I had with Register.com. I don't even want a refund; I just want OUT! For years I suffered with techs who speak poor English and rarely fix any problems. They tried to get me to pay them $99 to fix a problem THEY caused, because they switched servers (or something like that). NOT MY FAULT. Avoid companies that use off-shore workers.
I belonged to Register.com for over 20 years. I finally quit because I was getting 150 spams and spoofs DAILY. I couldn't handle them.
Now, a year later...I want my domain name back so I can use it elsewhere. Register.com has basically "KIDNAPPED IT" and are holding it RANSOM. The Ramson is NOT money. They want personal info that is personal and I am unwilling to share...such as a Goverment ID with a Color Photo of me and Utility bills where the address agrees with government ID. So funny, because all our Utility type bills are in my husband's name... BTW, I'm 80 years *******@mac.com
Guys dont buy any domains or transfer your domain to register.com they will transfer your domain for cheap and then harass you for transfer asking for $350 when i had asked epp code just before expiry they would delay then put your domain in delete mode and say we cannot generate auth code u have to redeem the site i have transferred from other domain providers even after expiry they had not harassed me like this. Its a ripoff please be advised they will not provide any email communication because it can be used as evidence
Our organization was talked into changing to register.com by a webdeveloper. The first three years were a little high, but didn't think too much about it. When it came to renew, didn't realize that they had added on all kinds of other things too. The 5 year renewal was $700 for a domain name! Didn't realize it until recently, when we were going over accounting, our non-profit group had been a bit dormant due to COVID. The renewal occurred over a year ago. I called and tried to get it refunded, even partially, but its not "policly to provide a refund after 30 days". We had paid upfront. The extra services have been cancelled, but no refund, though we paid through 2026! STAY AWAY FROM THESE THEIVES! THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY AND ARE UNETHICAL!
Horrible customer service, tech support is amateur, and can barley understand.
Email host is horrendous, constant glitches.
This company tries to sell you something every time you call them.
They're more concerned about sales than to help you fix an issue.
I recently asked about a SSL purchase, the salesperson sold me a SSL certificate to add to my website, then they installed it and it did not work and made things worse.
I called them and told them it's not working and now since they did what they did, I get a big warning when visiting my website "this is not a secure website, please go back"
I call them and now they tell me my website is not compatible with the software that they just sold and installed!
I ask for my money back for something they installed and didn't work and they told me they can't refund me because they already installed it!
I called my credit card company to stop payment and dispute this.
A horrible company to work with, and they don't treat customers well.
Date of experience: May 18,2023
Saw a notification flash across my phone yesterday alerting to a credit card charge from register.com. Contacted them to see what it was for. The first rep took so long looking into the issue that I had to log off. I asked that the details of the charge be emailed to me and left that address. NO FOLLOW UP. Later contacted them again and 2nd rep found out the charge was for a client's domain and email service - even though 3 of the 4 credit cards associated with the account were the client's they chose to charge my card. I asked who authorized the charge and they said they had contacted the client by phone but couldn't prove it. I spoke with the client and he reported that no one had contacted him. I believe him. THEY LIED. When I confronted them about the potential FRAUD they had committed (charging a card without authorization) I was told "I understand your concern." My client paid me back for the charge but I was left with clear sense that register.com operates unethically - and maybe worse.
Customer service has no idea what they're doing. So much wasted time on hold, then constantly transferring to different departments. Good luck getting anything resolved.
No real customer service to speak with. Everything has to be sent to non existent admins. Not worth your money is you want business success
Lost email capability the beginning of April 2023. I called and called and all I got was that they would fix it (3calls) on the 4th call the girls says well if you renew now I will send the repair right up to the top people and it will be fixed in 48 hours. That cost me $105.08. A week later, still nothing. So I messaged for them to issue a refund $105.08. The girl said in a written message that the FULL AMOUNT WOULD BE PROCESSED. Nope still, $23.24 still missing. Today, I chatted and she said can't do can only refund $11.00, that the balance is a processing fee. So folks, I have been with them for over 15 years and treated like this. I don't think so and you should think twice about purchasing from them.
Answer: I was working with a consultant from the Small Business Development Center when I began my business. She advised me to register my LLC and then to go to Register.com to buy the domain name before anyone else could. Later on, she suggested Register when I was looking for hosting.
