Writing an outstanding review for Valerie Daly is such a pleasure as it is so well deserved! Anytime you're having something done to your face, the most visible and vulnerable area to be touched, it is imperative to have confidence in the person injecting you and refreshing that image you show the world... and that is Val. She is warm, kind, gentle, listens to what you want, suggest, takes away your worries and the result is always even better than you hoped for!

Cosmetic surgery
April 6, 2017

Had lower facelift performed, upper eyelids and pixie eyebrows in August 2016. The following 4 days were very uncomfortable with ice packs and sleeping in an upright position in lounge chair. The care give by Dr. Ricciardelli and staff was impeccable. The office called and checked on progress several times, After a week, the bruising started to subside and after 3 weeks disappeared. My husband was very pleased with results and said I looked 10 years younger. I am 68. Highly recommend Dr Ricciardelli and staff for your cosmetic procedures.

Dr John's Rocks!
December 13, 2016

I had breast reduction and skin removal. Dr Johns and staff. Where so great. He truly is an artist. The hospital was also very sweet to me and I'd suggest anyone too see Dr John's. Only thing is I saw him twice during the whole process, but I understand he's very busy. Great job everyone. Thank-you so much! I was very scared and you all put me right at ease. That means alot.,,,,, Kitty

Cosmetic surgery
October 13, 2010

Cosmetic surgery. People have it for many reasons, hopes and expectations. It costs a very great deal of money. And sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, and even if it works, it may turn out not to be worth the money. How do you tell?

Enter realself.com, a social community which appeals to a large niche audience, those who have had cosmetic surgery or are thinking about doing so. Here you will find detailed stories of other people's experiences, how much it hurt, how much they paid and whether they thought the procedures were worth the money. There is a voluntary team of board-certified plastic surgeons on call to give advice, too.

The site has been online for four years and has been steadily growing the audience and building the community until its visitor figures have made it into seven figures. It is unique as far as I know, and may represent a growing movement to create "vertical" social communities focused on one common interest rather than being so broadly diverse as to be ultimately unsatisfying.

There have, of course, been forums of a similar nature for years; just look around and you'll find a depressing number of depression forums, for a start. And these can be really useful, and reassuring, and supportive. But often, they aren't, because they're prone to the common problems that almost all forums suffer - control issues, issues of moderation, trolls, flaming, phony postings, spam, and so forth and so on. You can never be sure you'll get a sympathetic response or proper control. Here, though, is a much more organized and friendly environment, optimized for one class of user and supplying both practical advice and sympathy, and a safe place to open up about such a sensitive and perhaps even taboo subject.

If you've ever considered anything from eyelids to major reconstruction, or want to share your experience, this is the place to go.

Had numerous honest reviews from patients' deleted at the whim of realself. Patients go to realself to post reviews hoping to express themselves and help others. It seems as though Realself will delete any reviews they want, either positive or negative, depending on how much doctors pay them. That is wrong.

They are scam
October 23, 2015

I got banned from the website because the doctor I wrote the review about contacted them. While I see him and many other doctors have fake reviews by simply asking their staff members with different ip addresses to write reviews but I got mine deleted! Do no pt believe on this site reviews

I paid 20,000 pounds to a surgeon based on the 5 start reviews I read on RealSelf. Just a few days before my procedure, I came across a thread of comments on RealSelf itself which were not posted under the surgeon's reviews but posted separately elsewhere of patients whose operations were botched by this surgeon, two of whom I contacted and met in person, who said that their negative reviews of the surgeon were deleted. I cancelled my surgery but of course did not get my money back. Realself can be a useful research too for potential patients but it is largely and mostly a PR tool for cosmetic surgeons. You will hardly find any surgeon with reviews that put a practitioner in bad enough light to deter would be patients. It is obvious that there are unhealthy links between RealSelf and cosmetic surgery practitioners whose real costs are being paid by unsuspecting vulnerable people. Sooner or later they will be caught but many people and households will be ruined till we get to this point.

I based my decision to use a Beverly Hills ocular surgeon based on the hundreds of mostly positive reviews on this site. As the scheduled surgery drew near I began to look also at his negative reviews which included lack of communication, poor results and even hostile behavior. I ended up following through with the surgery feeling very uneasy. Well, I did experience all of those negative consequences.I had a less than optimal result and when I criticized his work, legitimately and respectfully, he became stunningly hostile and evasive. It was exactly as one reviewer had described. When I went back to look again at the reviews, the reviews by this patient had disappeared from the site. I also noticed a pattern in the positive review of questionable legitimacy. I think the model is corrupt. Doctors pay for sponsored ads and they are able to have negative reviews removed by convincing RealSelf's that the negative reviews are fake and "violate the terms of the agreement ". Consumers are being harmed here, and they are mostly women.

Being disfigured by a liar surgeon wasn't enough that realself removed my review right after I spoke to the doctor office. This is misleading potential patients who don't see the whole story. Is dangerous

Please be careful. This is an advertisement site for plastic surgeons. For example Thomas Jeneby, San Antonio, TX, has had at least 5 court cases for malpractice, one as recent as 2018, and you can't find any bad reviews for him after 2016. The reviews seem to favor surgeons even though they might be doing a deplorable jobs. More than a dozen woman in San Antonio have claimed to have botched breast surgeries by Dr. Jeneby, please refer to news reports for more information. There is even a blog out from one of his victims. Please be careful, I can only imagine how many other PS are pumping this site with misleading reviews. Do not use this site as your only tool to make your decision.

Very Disappointed
October 17, 2018

Having just had a procedure a couple weeks ago and dealing with a rude, unresponsive practitioner, I posted a question last night, looking forward to getting some feedback today. Instead, I get a response from a moderator telling me to contact my doctor. Apparently, my question wasn't good enough to make the cut. The moderator lied to me and told me that they were not accepting post-op questions anymore. As someone else mentioned, this looks more like an advertising website for doctors than a forum designed to help patients..

Hi Zach -- Thanks for getting in touch and we're sorry to hear about your experience.

We recently changed our Doctor Q&A at the request of both consumers and doctors. We do share post-op questions, but specific post-op concerns (such as aftercare) are referred back to your doctor. We made this change because doctors told us they didn't have enough information to answer these questions adequately and, in turn, consumers weren't receiving great answers.

We hope this helps to explain these recent changes, and we hope your recovery process is now going well.

RealSelf is just an advertising forum for plastic surgeons. It's not a genuine, impartial, review board where the members can share true experiences.

If you are a doctor, you can buy yourself a top spot on RealSelf and market yourself with glowing self-submitted reviews. And if somebody posts a less-than-stellar review of your skills, you can have it removed.

RealSelf is NOT a genuine review site. Please don't rely on the reviews there to select a plastic surgeon!

Hi Christianna -- We appreciate you sharing your concerns.

All reviews go through the same moderation process, which includes both software and human moderation, and they're subject to the same guidelines. Reviews that don't meet our Terms of Service, whether positive or negative, aren't published.

We are an independently-owned resource. Doctors cannot pay to alter consumer content on the site. They are also not allowed to post positive reviews about themselves, and they can't pay to remove reviews.

Please feel free to get in touch if you have concerns about any particular reviews. We're always willing to look into them further.

Dr. Brian S. Glatt is truly an amazing doctor. I have spent most of my adult life dreaming about having breast implants. I knew one day I would finally do it. After a few referrals from my friends/patient's of Dr. Glatt, I knew he was the doctor for me. He is such a genuine, warm and understanding doctor. He truly has the best interest of his patient's in mind. If you are looking for a 5 star plastic surgeon, Dr. Glatt should be your first choice! Having 3 kids, I don't normally have the time to post reviews or take surveys, but this is one time that I felt it was necessary. If I can change one person's mind about whom they choose to be their doctor, then it was worth it. Best of luck and remember... you won't be disappointed with Dr. Glatt, he is the BEST! I have a new found love for my body and confidence in me that I never knew existed :)

OMG what isn't there to LOVE: the procedure for Exilis Ultra is truly remarkable. This procedure is comfortable, relaxing and affordable. The best thing is IT WORKS. I was somewhat skeptic but wanted to try something besides a total face lift. My skin has tightened, glowing, less puffy and jowls are nearly gone. I love it and will return again as needed... no down time, no pain and did I say affordable... sign me up again in a year. I will return

When I first met Dr. Henderson I immediately knew she was very passionate about her work. She took the time to go over the options and tailored my surgery to what I wanted to see as the end result. I am extremely happy with my forehead lift and no longer have heavy eyelids and fatty tissue under my eyes. I look and feel rejuvenated and refreshed with out looking like I had surgery. I highly recommend her and have referred many of my friends to her.

Real Self is a scam
November 6, 2014

Real Self is a scam. They delete negative reviews about Plastic Surgeons. They get their money from advertisers. I received a private email massage, which I believed was actually from my doctor. I laid out the entire truth in my reply. I was booted off the site. Before, I would receive about 10 emails a day from them.

I like it because you can find out a lot of information about different cosmetic options (surgeries, tattoing (eg permanent makeup), orthodontics, etc.), so it's disappointing that I have to register in order to view pictures that people post. I don't think I'd use it to find surgeons or centers that perform these procedures, but as a resource for finding more information about what people think of them, I'd say it's mostly legit.

The doc I used from this site had five stars all the way, but the surgery I ended up with was far less than a five star outcome. Also, I received email from Real Self and opened one in particular. I had posted a negative review about the doctor on Real Self and was bullied by horrible people unknown who posted comments against me that went way over the line. Back to the email: I opened an attachment and it had NOTHING in it. Within a few days my computer contracted the Cryto 3.0 virus and crashed. I found out that it was likely an "exe" attachment. These are widely used to spread this awful ransom ware virus to your computer. Beware of the reviews, don't post there or open any email from them.
