Ravelry has a rating of 3.1 stars from 510 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Ravelry most frequently mention fiber arts, white supremacy and social media. Ravelry ranks 1st among Yarns sites.
Ravelry has been the best thing to happen to fibre crafters since patterns were made available on the Internet. It is the largest database for knitting and crochet patterns, for yarns, and the search functions are extensive. Search by type of craft, free or paid patterns, type of project, yarn & needle/hook size, age/size, and more. As specific or generic as you want, covering online patterns, downloads, books, magazines, and more. Now multiply that by countries in the world and you've got the idea. I've been a member for over 12 years and it's my starting point for every yarn-based project I've ever made since then.
And if you're concerned about the politics and the stupid Trump supporters/Nazis/white supremacists, just remember that this is NOT strictly an American site; it is run by Americans but it was made for the international fibre arts community, and everyone is welcome to participate, but leave your discrimination at the door.
Ravelry's database is the BEST place to find a pattern. There are so many search parameters, and you can search the forums for advice if you're stuck or don't understand.
Ravelry has it all and still has the best service and people you could hope to meet. The site is user friendly and easy to use
Not only is this a terrific site for everything knitting, the owner has banned bigoted posts that promote white supremacy, discrimination, and racism.
All my patterns in one place, I can keep track of my yarn, my projects, and the forums can help you with any question you have! The site runners are amazing and fun, and are very responsive.
If you knit or crochet - there is nothing else that can compare! I use the site daily and have met amazing people via the site.
Nothing but love!
I've been a Ravelry member for about 10 years now. I've made life-long friends through the site, and shared a love of knitting, crochet, spinning and all things yarn. The site navigation is easy to use, and I love that you can search for patterns based on type, yarn used, etc. The community is always ready to step up and help, whether it be with a tricky pattern, or a personal issue. I can't say enough good things about this site and the people who run it. Ravelry literally changed my life for the better.
I was introduced to Raveley after being taught to crochet to cope with a cancer diagnosis. I have forged some of my most important friendships due to meeting people on ravelry. Casey has done such a magnificent job creating a site that is pleasing, operational an amazing amount of the time, despite heavy traffic, formatted in a groundbreaking way so as to combine a massive database with an inclusive, safe, and friendly social media platform. The attention to detail and personal safety of all members is truly visionary.
I have used Ravelry for years for inspiration, patterns, yarn info and help with some thought knitting issues. Ravelry and it's members always comes through. I am a better knitter because of this site!
Revelry is a fantastic site and resource for all fiber artists. I've met some of my best friends there.
I love having access to so many patterns and the people who provide them. Ive been a member for a long time and pick up knitting and walk away from it every now and then. Rav is always there.
I deleted my Ravelry account when I was called a white supremacist and racist by the owners. I'm a crocheter of Puerto Rican heritage who walked away from the Democratic Party and voted for Trump (after voting for Obama in his first term). Don't know why this is even an issue on a craft site, but the people who claim to be so tolerant only tolerate people who are part of the same group think. This website is an unfriendly place and will only add stress to your life. Don't bother with it!
I have been a member for 10 years and use this site on a daily basis I love everything about it and I have made so many friends and I met so many designers and dyers because of this group
Ravelry provides amazing resources for fibre-arts devotees in the form of patterns, forums, social networking, and tons of information in an incredibly easy to use format. It's fabulous! But not only that, Ravelry is one of the few organizations taking a stand against hate speech, and making a real effort to be inclusive and welcoming to all marginalized groups. I have met incredible people here who are now my friends; I have improved my knowledge of and skill in knitting; I have learned to spin and dye fibre; and I have before me an example of people taking a stand for their beliefs.
The best place to find knitting and crocheting patterns. Excellent site, search capability and forum support. They took a strong stance on active and tacit support of bigotry and white supremacy. The only social media site brave enough to do so.
Best site for all things knitting/crocheting related. Best resource to find patterns, ideas, yarn reviews, help, KALs, and community.
Takes seriously the safety of its members. Very small group bent out of shape they are no longer allowed to use site for hate speech. Business owners and moderators have worked for years to deal with these hateful trolls (some of whom have harassed others via doxxing and threats).
I've been a member since the early days of Ravelry. At first, I thought it was a cool idea for a way to find patterns and organize my stash. I didn't expect to find a community and an amazing group of friends. I've met people through Rav that have become actual friends. We're scattered across the globe but when we're together, it's like no time has passed. It's simply amazing.
Ravelry didn't ban politics or Trump supporters, they just said that Trump support on the website isn't allowed. And that's their right. And if you have an issue with Trump support becoming synonymous with hate speech, you should think about why and try to get the GOP to fix that. Thanks, Rav!
Ravelry is a wonderful site for everyone who loves fiber arts. You can find patterns for pretty much everything you could want to knit or crochet. There are tons and tons of free patterns, as well as patterns for purchase. One of the best things though, would be their policy against hate speech and white supremacy.
I've used Ravelry for years. It's great for finding new patterns, new yarns, and keeping track of your current patterns and yarns. There are lots of diverse groups full of supportive people to help you learn new skills and cheer on your current projects.
Answer: Ravelry refuses to support bigotry in any form and states so in its TOS. It is a privately owned platform and they are well within their rights. They have absolutely not banned Christians or conservatives, only speech that supports bigots and bigotry.
Answer: Because they are creating a culture of ignorance and hate in the name of politics.
Answer: This has nothing to do with Ravelry. Sockmatician is receiving feedback on a post he wrote and then heavily edited.
Answer: In the notebook section, go to your library. Choose your pattern and there will be a download button. Alternatively, for free patterns, on the main pattern page there will be a link to click to download the pattern or, if it isn't hosted on Ravelry, a link to where you can find the pattern on another website.
Answer: Can you point to any reviews that are actually doing that?
Answer: By email / by downloading it - If you purchase a pattern on Ravelry, it is a digital download.
Answer: How interesting that I answered this question several hours ago, but now *POOF* my answer has magically disappeared. WHICH PROVES MY ASSERTION. This site is helping Ravelry suppress opposing points of view. What that means is, this site is not objective and cannot be trusted for accurate information concerning the businesses that are reviewed.
Answer: I would imagine that it has something to do with Ravelry insisting that their ignorant behavior be defended. Even if that means many will no longer take sitejabber reviews seriously. I mean, how could I? Sitejabber is now guilty of silencing dissenting opinions. Just like Ravelry.
Answer: Laura J., the negative reviews are also objective. They have been posted by real people such as me, reporting real experiences past and present. True assessment of a company needs both sides of the story. If the negative reviews disappear again, it would imply someone from Ravelry is exerting undue influence over SiteJabber. There was mention in an answer to a similar question about some people a "Boycott Ravelry" group using fake names and addresses to post fake reviews. I was not a member of that group, and know some of the people posting reviews since the initial ones were deleted. We are not fake. We speak the truth, whether you want to hear it or not.
