Do not give them any details. A useless service that feeds on typical entertainment industry desperation. A job site that charges subscriptions is already going to be shady, but the production base business model seems to solely rely on people forgetting to cancel their memberships or free trials - which has to be the only explanation why they are so elaborately militant about enforcing it, but do not inform members when they've paid for a renewal. They know their service is useless, and that nobody sane would pay for it twice - give a wide berth.
The company is an absolute scam - the phone isn't working (called more than 20 times one day during various times and been said they were on a lunch break - totally unprofessional - apparently their lunch break lasts 5 hours).
They don't respond to emails at all, unless you contact your bank. They don't conform to trading standards and should be investigated by some trading authorities. Staff threatening in emails, because I wanted to cancel my subscription, which they charged me for anyway as you can't find cancellation button. Instead of trying to resolve your issue, they send you a generic email and don't even refer to your questions. Cannot believe leading TV channels advertise on their website. Scam.
After having money stolen from my account with no warning was refused a refund.
I urge others coming here to report Productionbase to Action Fraud https://www.actionfraud.police.uk as this will be the only way to stop their antics and protect others in future. Pursue them for a refund as the wording 'this is our company policy' actually means nothing in law and is just used to fob you off.
Also - be aware if you do manage to find the way through the layers of pages on the website to the hidden cancellation page, they will not send the promised confirming email - so you would not have proof of cancelling when following up.
The guy who founded this site was a good guy but he sold it to a bunch of scammers long ago.
I'm a student and wanted to gain experience in the film industry i registered with production base hoping to find potential jobs, i am stupid and should have looked for reviews coz i signed up for the free trial thinking there would be a button to cancel it, there isn't! So now i've had to deal with money going out my bank account after deleting the account, i'm now worried that next month more money will go out.
They also don't seem to like answering phones and replying to email, complete and utter scam
Like everyone else, it's hard to cancel. They are apparently above the law and will give a refund within 14 days of the contract starting. They don't send an email to your personal email address like a normal company. The only notice you get is through their own message inbox, so if you never use and forget then they will take your money.
Do not bother with this site. Waste of time.
I'm been with ProductionBase for a year and while their website looks impressive it has not got me any leads since I joined, not even an enquiry. That aside, when I tried to cancel, one day after my money had been taken, their subscription model is auto renewal is and they refused to give me my money back citing their terms and conditions but when you try and cancel via their website there isn't any obvious way to cancel.
Do not trust this company.
Backhanded company that has no interest in their customers, and only on making their money. The only company I've been connected with that is not open about renewals. They do not send out notifications to your email or anything else - just a note in your on-line messages (which you don't get notified about). They don't give you a cooling off period - even if you've not used the site for a year. Their instructions on the site about how to cancel your membership get you caught in a link-loop as the links all refer you to each other, and not to any place where you are able to cancel. The customer service is poor, and they are not interested in any reason, issue or problem you may have - only that you've paid your money so anything else is tough. It's not even like they have any worthwhile or unique jobs.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
Barely any jobs outside of London and most jobs are available elsewhere anyway on free job sites. Auto-billed me after my 7 day free trial expired and then refused to refund me even though I got in touch within an hour of being charged - one of those companies who's entire business model revolves around hoping people forget to cancel a trial, not sure how this practice is even still legal. Customer service was truly awful and quite unprofessional. I was a newly established freelancer and wasn't in a financial position to lose money to these scalpers.
I cancelled my account (because the whole service is a waste of time) and yet they continued to charge me. When I protested, all they replied with was to say it was against their policy to provide refunds. This was after they took my money without my permission! Awful company.
I got charged for membership without pre-warning when I thought I had to cancel my membership.
I asked them kindly for a refund and they found all types of excuses to avoid talking about the issue via email, saying that they would communicate using different methods.
After a couple of email exchanges with them they stop answering although I had continued writing to them to ask for an explanation, they are totally bad people and someone should report them.
They are awful scam people and i will file a legal action against them
Once you got charged for an unwanted service, they will be unreachable. Never never ever subscribe any of their services. You will never be called back from any job offers. All are fake and useless. If you are applied for a trial, just go and cancel your subscription. Otherwise, goodbye to your hard-earned money.
Took my money without my permission, they take advantage of job seeking freelancers by luring them in with the promise of leads. There are very few to none actionable leads here, DO NOT SIGN UP.
They refuse to return my money which they took without my permission, citing their nonsense company policy as an excuse. I am currently attempting to get my money back through paypal but I'm not hopeful, do not even attempt a free trial with these charlatans.
Someone else mentioned filing a formal complaint with Action Fraud - I would recommend anyone else considering this to go ahead and do it, these people will only stop when the law comes crashing down on them.
This company doesn't allow you to cancel. When you try to cancel it is very difficult. I had to cancel twice in order to show that it has been cancelled. When I tried to cancel when they charged me for the next years subscription without any warning, I cancelled and then they said it was too late so I lost my money. Someone needs to sue this company only then they will realise what they are doing to people.
I was charged a yearly subscription without approval and they don't want to give refund despite the fact i canceled it on the last day of my previous year subscription. Completely ignoring Direct Debit Guarantee indemnity claim.
I have been member with Production Base over many years what i get in response of my first ever enquiry with them - zero loyalty respect, you aren't going get your money basicaly.
I consider myself rather tech savvy, and able to navigate sites and such very well. However ProductionBase really got me mad with how their site is set up to make it REALLLY hard to cancel your subscription (though if u message them they will claim its all in the agreements, etc). I looked for a few days to figure out how to cancel it, and eventually assumed that it was a free site, as there was no obvious way to cancel.
It was only on asking their chat help, that they explained you HAVE to click on 'Dashboard' and then and ONLY then will your 'My Membership' option appear under settings. On any other tab, this is not an option.
Extremely frustrating, and will not be using this scammy site again. Good for fiinding companies...but theri website needs a LOT of work.
Hope this helps anyone else who is looking to figure out how to cancel their subscription.
As a grizzled old Producer, I've tried pretty much every website, social media group, agency and diary management service going. ProductionBase is the one that I end up coming back to again and again whenever I'm looking for new projects.
I subscribed to the website as I was trying to find work in the field, but quickly realised it would not be worth the money. The first time I asked for a cancellation of the membership and a refund of the annual cost I was told I could not get a refund, but they offered me a free CV review. I was not happy with the solution, but accepted the situation. Before they took the next automatic renewal payment out of my account I tried to cancel the subscription online. However, they have made the process of cancelling on their website incredibly difficult and non-user friendly, and while I thought I had cancelled it, I was again charged the yearly membership fee. When explaining the situation to customer service I was again told I can't have the fee refunded. This is the first time I ever experience anything like this. DO NOT become a member and prevent others from falling in their trap. I'm utterly disgusted by the whole company.
Scamming and money-grabbing company. Their subscription policy is not clear and doesn't have an option to opt-out. They will charge you again automatically after one year without notice and, once you're charged, they refuse to refund even if you ask for a cancellation on the same day, in complete disregard for the Consumer Rights Act.
Plus, pretty much all of their job offerings can be found elsewhere online for free - be it on Indeed, LinkedIn, Facebook groups or any of the many freelancing and crewing websites out there. Unbelievable that this company still exists, absolutely avoid.
A rubbish CV consultation is the only thing I've ever had from them. Accidentally paid for several years, but wouldn't refund as I was a day late cancelling.
Do not go near Production Base - money-grabbing and they do not care about the people on their database a jot. They used to be good back in the day but there are much better sites out there with nicer customer service and better jobs!
Answer: I got hold of customer service quite quickly over email but they were incredibly unhelpful and unprofessional. They don't reply to tweets when people want help on Twitter.
Answer: ProductionBase is a scam in my opinion. I don't believe job adverts should ever be behind a paywall, especially for the film and TV industry where socio-economic diversity is already lacking. Ethically bankrupt company who hide behind their terms and conditions while charging people for a poor product they don't want.
