The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. This feedback indicates a critical need for improved transparency and customer support practices.

I made my original booking to find out that the the request failed. I was told by priceline that it was because I added a rental car to my package and sometimes that messes their system up. So I booked again, without the rental car and it still didn't go through. This time priceline blamed the hotel I chose, saying that the hotel still had rooms listed, but there weren't any rooms available. So, try number 3, I changed hotels and submitted the package to have it fail again. Priceline's reason this time - the airline had seats listed when there really weren't any seats available! Unbelievable! And guess what, each attempted booking put a hold on my bank account for the price of the package! - Even more unbelievable! And to try to get it resolved quickly through priceline - what a joke. I'm not even sure how this company stays in business. I've written priceline an email detailing my situation 2 days ago and haven't heard anything in response. DON'T USE PRICELINE, UNLESS YOU HAVE LOTS OF MONEY IN YOUR ACCOUNT TO BE PUT ON HOLD!
Booked airfare to Maui for 2 tickets. Put in the dates to be 10 days apart. Got the confirmation and they booked the tickets to arrive and leave Maui the same day. Ended up costing nearly $700 to change the tickets to the right day. They would not work with us, even though we're pretty sure it was their mistake. Don't bother using these guys. Customer service doesn't speak English well and they won't work with you on anything.
To collect on Priceline's Guaranteed Lowest Price, I phoned Priceline's website. The representative said she could not find a lower price at the hotel I booked. I told her "That's because it's a small hotel (Authors, in Key West, Fla.), and each room is a different rate." I specified the room I booked, and told her she wouldn't find it available because I had just booked it on Priceline! I printed the less expensive site's offering (EASYTOBOOK.COM) and said I could supply that as proof. She refused. So I sent my proof to Teddi Cremeans at Priceline's Executive Offices, also inviting her to call Authors of Key West to confirm what I said was true. She said she couldn't open my PDF attachment. I offered to FAX it to her. She did not address my offer. Three times I received the form/standard refusal e-mail. Heed the preponderance of negative reviews on Priceline. Priceline is a scam outfit that does not make good on their promises. Use other websites until Priceline is driven out of business.
If you do not see your flight while booking with priceline, do not book any vacation with them, they will waist two days of your item on your vacation spending it in the airports
I will never use their services again
I'm really surprised by all the negative experiences that are mostly being disclosed here. I have used priceline sparsely for about 10 years and I have never had any difficulties with their services not being as I expected. I have done flight, hotel and car rental with no problems. I have also never had to call customer service, so I can't speak to how that would be. The "biggest" thing I've done with priceline was earlier this year when 3 co-workers and I booked a hotel and flight package to Hawaii (conference!). It was fantastic and a good deal. From the experience I've had, I recommend this company.
I booked a room at Beachgate
Priceline charged me $121.68
When I received my receipt from Beachgate it was for $94.92
Including taxes.
Priceline refused to refund the $27 stating the was their wholesale price for them.
The hotel told me this is their normal rates for winter specials.
Priceline is making a profit... and not honoring their price guarantee.
A bunch of thieves, once they have your money don't expect any help from them.
Stay away from this so-called travel agency! It really doesn't get any worse then this. Just stay away! We booked a PACKAGE - 4 air tickets and 3-night stay IN hotel for 1500$. After 2 weeks they just canceled hotel reservation and gave us back 300$ (out of 1500$). Apparently, hotel didn't want to accommodate us for that price. And air tickets were non-refundable. So we were supposed to go there and sleep at the airport. With 3yo girl! Customer service offered us 25$ voucher as an apology. 25$ for 1200$ robbery! And no way to get full refund. I know, this sounds like SF story and I wouldn't believe if was told before. We spoke to the lawyer and lawsuit is on the way. PRICELINE = BIG FRAUD!
3rd time at this if it dupes sorry. Priceline is bad see below.
Priceline bid page acknowledges bid price accepted or rejected. When upped price bid page would not acknowled only saying old bid price rejected. Tried this about 3 times. Finally changed star from 3 to 2.5 to get off of stuck bid page. Instantly priceline bid page woke up and tried to furnish unacceptable hotel. Since lawyer speak was checked as they have to be to move page. Priceline would not refund money. They kept the money from my checking account. We did not stay at their hotel. Since lawyer speak was checked they refused to refund money. Follow up with their claims department produced same wall. They stole my money. Are there any class actions out there? Never heard of an auction not acknowledging an increased bid. Priceline not reasonable and I will not use again.
It took nearly 5 hours on the phone yesterday to get the issue with my travel plans resolved. This has been the worst customer service experience of my life.
My travel plans had to change dates because of illness in my family, which is supposed to be covered under the "insurance" I purchased.
The new travel dates were nearly $600 less expensive than the previously booked dates. Priceline wanted to charge me an additional $180 per person to change JUST the flight with no refund for the difference in ticket price.
I was able to call Delta and they changed our tickets for FREE and gave us travel vouchers for the price difference. The woman who helped me at Delta said, "Well, what's the insurance even for then?"
The people at the hotel were more than willing to change the dates for our reservation, but needed the people at Priceline to initiate that change since the charge was via Priceline and not directly from my credit card. They said there would be NO CHARGE for the change and even no charge if the reservation needed to be cancelled. Priceline said they would be happy to cancel the reservation for me for a cost of $25 per person, per night (more than the cost of the reservation to begin with). That was beyond unacceptable.
Then they transferred me yet again to another incompetent person, maybe she just doesn't understand English but the people at the hotel and my husband and myself tried to explain that the reservation dates could be changed but that the change needed to be made on the Priceline end (the rep at the hotel said that they have done this for Priceline cutomers before) and she would not hear it. She wanted the hotel rep to make the change, which he does not have the power to do.
In the end my reservation was cancelled because that was the only option I had because this person would not listen or do anything to help resolve the situation, which was the case with every representative I spoke with at Priceline yesterday. I ended up booking directly with the hotel and actually getting a better rate than through Priceline. If I had just booked directly with the carriers to begin with it would have cost a little more, but it would have saved me the better part of a day and a pounding migraine.
Bottom line: I will NEVER use Priceline again and will be blogging like crazy about my more than terrible experience in hopes of saving a few people from getting screwed like I did.
I had used Priceline for over 50 bookings and was pleased. Since I traveled on business and pleasure and just need a clean room without bugs is all I cared about. I would use the two star rating. I now have been told I was lucky because when I got to Florida around Disney, Celebration Suites was there name your own price. They told me although I paid in full I now owed another 25% above what priceline had taken, or I could not have the room. They called it is a resort fee, and let me tell you this motel, not a chain hotel, was as far from a resort as you can get. Economy lodge would be a resort if they were. It is a 1/2 star and when I complained to priceline, their customer service in the Philippines just read from a sheet, then the supervisor read from a them same sheet. They never varied and there was no one above them. When I wrote to priceline corporate they never responded. I will never book through them again. The hotel was so bad they gave me back one night because they never cleaned the room after I complained the day before they left half the towels and no soaps, and left all the dirty towels on the floor. The toilet plunger was a nice touch, since I normally do not need to use one at home but I did here. The free internet with my own laptop was so far away from the room that I did not need to use the gym because of the walk. In fact ice for the room, fitness center etc., was a hike for all. Priceline says you will get a quality like these hotels for a two star that I knew, so I was confident. The factor that you are just a number with them and no service after they get your money is the reason I will never use them again. Beware!
Never again! I was purchasing airline tickets yesterday, prices went up while I was trying to book for the same ticket itinerary, I figured it might be because they are selling out seats on the airlines all within 10 minutes. I looked up that they advertise price gurrantee so I said if it goes down again, then they will probably credit me the amount I paid more. The next day, I saw that they reduced the ticket price, but unlike Orbitz who will just automatically inform you that prices fluctuated and just send you a check, priceline will do everything to not get you the prices that they advertised lower. You have to call within 24 hours, which in our case we were informed that we went an hour over that time limit and we have to call the airlines to deal with getting a voucher for the increase in price. What BS! The only reason I found out their price went down was because I was going to purchase more tickets for my in laws who decided they would tag along on our trip, short to say, I am buying those ticket somewhere else! Never ever buy tickets from Priceline... they have the worst customer service! The people who I spoke to on the phone know exactly what was going on and was trying their best to work around the system to make you look stupid for falling into their Worse price gurranttee program! They would have gotten 0 stars from me if I had the option to do so.
Do not use this site, customer service only makes things worse. They essentially did a bait and switch AND charged me 20% more than I should have paid.
I have only used the "Name your own price" service so my review is for that only. It is a great resource to save money on travel if you READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS and understand exactly how it works. When you name your own price and your bid is accepted you have purchased the room, car, or ticket. There are no refunds or changes. You cannot pick the exact airline, rental agency, or hote but you can set minimum quality or levels.
I have used Priceline many times in my travels and have saved thousands of dollars overall. Sometimes it just doesn't work and I have to book my travel elsewhere but when it does work it is great. My most recent success stories are a 5 star hotel in upstate NY for $55 a room - retail price over $200 and a 4 star hotel on Long Island for $45 - retail price $150.
Once you are ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN of your travel plans there is no downside to using Priceline. Just know what you are getting into before clicking on the "Buy" button.
Don't plan a vacation without checking here first! Always a good deal!
Do not book with priceline.com they don't care about you they just want your money and their pictures are misleading to what you really get. This was absolutly the groosest place I ve seen If you don't mid the ceilings falling in on you and covered with water stains, mildew on the wall, water ALL over the toilet the bath tub looked like a person walked around in it with muddy shoes, the furiture was covered with dust and the all the mirrors were covered in fingerprints and the bed linin looked like it wasent changed in a year, If you don't mind all that then this is the place for you. The rooms look nothing like the pictures on the web sites. Those pictures are taken at a long angle to make it look bigger they are small and disgusting. When I told the front desk about how gross they were they came to the room and couldn't seem to understand why I was so upset, I guess they are just use to mildew and dirt. I told the fron dest I would not stay in these conditions and they charged me for the first nights stay and I had only been there for 5 mins before I decided to leave, this place is crap and is not worth 15.00 an night. Do not stay here. I will be posting this review on all sites to ensure no one has the same experience. Price line charged me for the first nights stay even after I called them to tell them what was going on DO not book with them
Priceline is usually the first site I go to to book a hotel. I don't book flights on here because I think there are specific sites that will only do airlines. I have rented a car here as well and it was very hassle-free! I would come to this site first before going to another site to book online. You can set your range of the price and star rating. The reviews on the site also help me decide what's best.
I'll never use priceline again! Not only was their rate higher than the actual hotel rate but when I arrived at the hotel I was charged by the hotel as well. I tried to resolve the issue, learning that priceline never forwarded my reservation to the hotel which is why my card was charged twice. The hotel ended up refunding my credit card which was less than I paid for the room through priceline. I communicated with priceline via email because I could NOT understand their non English speaking employees. Priceline told me they would follow up with me and of course they did not. The only reason I got any kind of refund was because I continued to email until someone took action. It is much easier to call the hotel directly and ask for a lower rate. It always seems to work.
Booked a car rental using their regular system (not Name Your Own Price). A week later, received an email for an exact rental from www.hotwire.com that ended up being $30 cheaper.
Priceline refused to match their price because you cannot which carrier Hotwire is getting the car from until after you make the purchase. So even if they are cheaper, it's not covered under priceline's guarantee. Bulls**t if you ask me.
Warning to anyone out there----priceline has an absolute zero % tolerance for refunding your money, ever. Even if the dates are wrong, you booked the wrong flight, wrong car, etc. Zero. That alone is cause to never use them again (not to mention their failure to match prices as promised).
Priceline, like every travel site I am aware of, is ridiculous. First, get the best price you can on any airline travel site, priceline, expedia, travelocity, etc. Then go to that airline, same dates, same flight and you'll find the same price. HOWEVER, if your travel plans change, if you deal directly with the airline, although you may pay for a change, or pay a different amount for a flight, at least you can make a change. It's almost impossible to do it for less anywhere else. And in most cases, so sorry Charlie if you deal with a general travel site. I never used Priceline before a trip to another city for 10 days, a few weeks ago. I only rented a car through Price Line. When I got to my car, (1:30 AM) what priceline called a mid sized car, avis called a compact. My knees were in my eyeballs. SO I up graded to a real mid size car, not thinking too much about it. You guessed it, I got charged the Priceline charge plus an additional charge by Avis. BUT, my gripe is not that I was charged additonal, I know price line rules. It ws that I was totally mis lead about car sizing by PriceLine. And that sucks! Oh, by the way, I could have gottent he same price from Avis for my car. Priceline was of no benefit. Tricked again!
Answer: The agreed to price is inclusive. I would look at dollar's website before renting from Priceline. There is no layer of protection from prcln.
Answer: With Price Line you may pay a reduced price. However, you get reduced services. Be prepared for hidden costs from the merchant as their ads on Price Line do not include their entire policy.
Answer: I'm not sure what you mean by "receive" the e-ticket. I've booked numerous times through priceline and other intermediaries, but have never received a ticket. I would suggest that you look at the itinerary that you've received from priceline and look for the Airline Confirmation Number (which may be a sequence of letters and or numbers depending on the airline). Then go to the airline's website and look up your flight itinerary. This process also varies by airline, but there should be some menu such as "My Trips" or other itinerary look up option. The airline should be able to find your itinerary based on your name and confirmation number. If your priceline itinerary contains an e-ticket number, you may be able to use that on the airline's website as well. If the airline has your itinerary, you're good to go. You'll be able to check in and get a boarding pass (electronic or print) 24 hours prior to your flight. If the airline has no record of you, then you've got a problem.
