I order a Pod on May 9th, they had a 30% off deal. This is not my first experience with PODS. And it was fine getting here. Delivery date May 30th. A week before I changed the date to June 3rd. Called no problem, no price change. On June 3rd I was notified that it would be here between 2:30 and 5:30, Drived called to tell me he be here in about 20 min. At about 3:00. When he got to my driveway the door was halfway up. I asked why. He shrugged his shoulders. When it made it off the truck and onto my driveway. I noticed the weather stripping coming off. I said to the driver my stuff will get wet. This wasn't a problem he told me. When I walking into the pod, I could pick the screws up with my fingernails. Not unscrew them actually pick them straight up. I pointed all this out. Again driver tells me this isn't a problem. This pod is going 900 miles not 50 miles down the road. Told him I wanted another Pod. Called his dispatcher and they couldn't do that. Instead the Driver and the Dispatcher cancelled my order. Nothing about me getting a sub par Pod. Spent hours on the phone for days. Made me a nervous wreck. So instead of 415.00 delivery to my driveway. It's now 575.00 they did drop the cost of transportation from 1919.00 to 1834.00. However storage went up 315.00 to 408.00. If your a women, a senior citizen. Beware what should of been cut and dry. As you can see from the pictures. This pod was sub par, instead I was told it would take 3 days to be reviewed. I didn't have the time. I had to pay the people I had lined up to help me pack the pod. Hope I get a better replacement. I'm on a fixed income, and really wish I could afford a better alternative. But beware, if you get my driver and dispatcher. All your quotes can be out the window. I added picture all of them are the pod. If you see a collection agency letter dated 4- -23. I didn't order my pod until 5-9. The other with black lines does not belong to me either. Alerted Sitejabber. Who is hacking my review.?
I am extremely upset about how my business with PODS has progressed. First off, it was an expensive choice, though it made the most sense at the time- we were moving from one side of the country to Arkansas, staying with a relative while we searched for a house. When I was on the phone with the rep (who was fine), he asked me where I would be moving to. I told him we didn't know, but would be looking in a certain town and the surrounding areas. He asked me for a zip code just to mark down for records, so I gave him the one my relative lives in.
At no point did this representative mention to me that these surrounding towns might be unable to receive PODS service. All I was told was that if we move to an area not as near Little Rock as we thought, we might have to use the Fayetteville or Jonesboro (or something) PODS facility instead. That was fine by me.
We had our pod dropped off and picked up just fine, the trouble started after we finally found a house, about twenty minutes away from the address I gave the PODS rep in the beginning. So I called them up to get my pod delivered, and all of a sudden, they told me they don't service that area. I was understandably distressed, as the whole move has been incredibly stressful, and this was completely unanticipated. Obviously, I never would have signed up for this expensive company if I thought they wouldn't be able to deliver. They told me that I would have to drive all the way to Little Rock and unload my things there at my own expense, then load them into a truck, then unload them AGAIN back at the new house! This is absurd.
I asked to speak to a supervisor, but I was denied this. The rep said she spoke to one on my behalf, and they still refused to deliver. I asked for escalation, they told me they emailed the Little Rock PODS facility, but my request was denied yet again.
Here's the real kicker though: they will deliver to the original address, my relative's house. I got her okay to do that, so the POD will now be coming here. The ridiculous part is that her address is literally halfway up a long windy mountain road in the middle of nowhere. The address I want it actually delivered to is right off the main highway, an extremely easy drop-off point.
I also apparently need to wait about 3 weeks for the pod to be delivered, which is utterly ridiculous as well, especially since I am still being forced to pay the same amount I was originally quoted despite all the setbacks. I am very upset, and I certainly plan to share this story with everyone I can. I will also be posting this review on multiple websites.
Beware. PODS is a deceptive business. There are tones of negative reviews over the internet. I only wish I had done my research before I got ripped off. I called for the first time to learn about their containers and to see if it would be possible to move our already packed home by loading a container ourselves. I explained to the woman on the phone that we had a 2-bedroom house with a study that had only a desk and a chair. She assured me that their largest container would be appropriate for our move. I got to detail that our stuff was already packed, that we had a 3-seater couch, a king and a single bed, and a couple of shelves about 2 to 3 feet wide. No, we do not have much furniture compared to the average American family because, since our life style requires that we move often, we try living as light as possible. We don't even own a TV set. So, I trusted the PODS woman and hired the container. The container arrived on the date agreed, but I was in shock to see how small it was! I looked at the volume of our already boxed stuff and saw that it was impossible to fit it all inside. I'd need at least one more container, maybe 2. Within 30 minutes, I called PODS and requested that they retrieve their container. The 2 customer reps I spoke to that day did not care that I was in despair 2 weeks before we had to move. The first said I'd be refunded the monthly fee but that I had to pay for the delivery fee only. Ok, I agreed. However, my credit card was charged all fees, including an extra pick up fee. They came to retrieve the container the next day. Considering that the delivery and pick up fees amount to over 40% of one monthly fee, this is a complete rip off. I was misled into thinking that a container would fit a "4-room home," meaning "2 bedrooms, a living room and a dining room," to quote PODS. This is a straight lie. Considering we do not own what an average family would own in a 2-bedroom house, it is obvious to me that this is simply deceptive business practice. PODS profited from me only by charging delivery and pick up "fees." The last customer rep I spoke to, was extremely rude by raising his voice over the phone and by making obvious he did not care about the fact that I felt betrayed as a customer. In addition, it is worth noting that PODS makes sure its customers are not able to put their complaints in writing. They have no email address or physical address for a customer or complaints department. I tried to find one everywhere in their website and even called their headquarters, but they say they have none. Quite convenient. A serious business ALWAYS has at least an email address for complaints. Before I saw how PODS is intent in deceiving its customers, I would have considered PODS for small moves, but now I will never go back to this business. The result of it is that we've had to hire a moving company at the last minute on top of paying PODS excessive fees.
Answer: It is a legit company that does not take responsibility for poor operations that can lead to holding a pod full of your possessions for over a month while charging you rent, while stating they have no capacity to schedule your redelivery
Answer: No success. They overbooked themselves, took a pod full of our possessions, left it sitting in the original city for the initial 2 weeks, could not offer redelivery for another 4 weeks and meanwhile charge their monthly rent to hold our possessions hostage.
Answer: The service sold by the sales reps offers a lot of flexibility in time of move and redelivery compared to traditional movers. Unfortunately they are misleading. Once they had our pod we learned they failed to move the pod to the new city over the initial 2 weeks, and would not redelivery it for another 4 weeks due to overbooking customers. They said there was no capacity to book the redelivery sooner. Meanwhile they charge rent per month to hold our possessions hostage.
