“Absolute rubbish”

Paul J.
11/5/21

Bunnings should stop stocking this rubbish. Like others I followed the instructions and most fell off before I could hang the painting. I got one painting up only to hear a crash later and yes my artwork was on the floor, thankfully undamaged. I wish I had read these reviews first OR purchased 3M which is now doing the job.DO NOT USE... you risk your artwork.

Perma products are poor quality. Don't buy. I followed their instructions. The canvas fill down in day 2 and peeled off the paint. Perma will find something to make it your fault.

Bunnings honestly need to remove this product off its shelves. Every single thing I've put up with these have fallen off the walls. I followed the directions to a T and I doubled the amount necessary for each item and they still fell off the wall. They are actually embarrassingly bad. As a company, why bother making and supplying them. Don't buy these!

This product is such poor quality and when you notify the company apparently it is your fault. I have lost 4 prints off the wall as the glue came off the Velcro, but again this is my fault and not a manufacturing issue. When I tried to take the strips off the wall they have taken the paint off. Once again I apparently must of not removed these correctly as stated by permastick. Bunnings should not stock this crappy product.

Used these for my picture wall and all good for 3 months. The pictures then started falling off the wall with only 20 out of 83 staying on wall. Bunnings good and gave me replacements. I put up to 6 medium ones on 6x4 picture weight in 68gms - I put heaps on all the photos. 4 months later they r all falling off again. Glue that's holds the Velcro parts are failing, not the glue to wall or frame. Absolute rubbish product that has failed twice now. Do not but this product.

I wish i had read the reviews before purchasing. I purchased this some time ago and wrote a complaint to them but they never followed up. Now I've lost track of the email (my fault probably but I couldn't find it under 'permastik' in my inbox) so I guess I've just lost money, not to mention a broken picture frame when the picture strips didn't hold it up :(

Bunnings should stop selling these. They DO NOT WORK. Total rubbish. The frames fall of the wall. That is if you can make them stick in the first place.

Avoid stick on picture hooks

Purchased Permastik hooks from my local Bunnings with a weight capacity of 500g per hook. Package clearly claims removes cleanly and rental safe. What a joke could. It not be further from reality. Put 4 hooks up for no more than a month. Followed all the instructions even purchased the isopropyl cleaner. On removal as per package instructions all 4 hooks pulled paint off a new home 12 month old wall leaving me to have to patch and paint costing more than the hooks were worth. Contacted company and provided all the information requested to no avail. They gave me the usual speel and that they always value customers feedback but stopped short of recompense. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. Clearly PERMASTIK don't.
Don't recommend purchasing and suggest Bunnings pull from the shelf.
Will never purchase a PERMASTIK product again.
Very disappointing

Very difficult to set the scale to measure body weight, fat, hydration as it's supposed to do. The icon for 'female' does not appear, no matter which button you press. Even following the instructions from the manual, it is impossible to set, as the digital display keeps randomly changing very fast. Hence I am able to use the scale only to take my weight. There are NO instructions on how to cancel anything you have entered, in case you make a mistake - which you will do, because the display keeps constantly changing while you are trying to set it and you are left wondering what has been entered. And worse, you can't cancel and start again. There is no phone number for enquiries / assistance. I would not recommend this product.

I have used permastik medium picture strips for hanging lightweight single photo frames and regret it as I now have damaged skirting boards and broken and damaged picture frames and photos. The furry side of the velcro strip has been systematically peeling from it's backing and I regularly come home or awake in the night to find another broken or damaged frame and damage to my home.
I am currently re-gluing the velcro back on and so far it hasn't come off again. As you can see from my photos I have halved the velcro strips but I checked that the weight would be ok. It is only the furry side that pulls away from it's backing strip for some reason?

Perma P. – Perma Products Rep

Hi Odette,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

Please note that the weight rating refers to the use of a full picture strip and by cutting the strips in half, you have altered the product. This may have also caused the velcro part to come apart from its backing. And so by altering the product, this puts product effectiveness beyond our control and therefore we cannot attest to its weight capacity.

We stand behind our products and they will hold the rated weight when used within the packaging instructions.

If you have any questions about our Permastik products or installation instructions, kindly contact our customer service team at https://www.permastik.com/contact/ and they will be happy to assist.

Kind regards,
Perma Products

I would not recommend this product to anyone. Bunnings really need to remove this pathetic product. Followed the instructions exactly as described and yet I've now had 3 different frames fall off the wall and break. Lucky the artwork inside was not damaged. Poor product that does not do what it promises to do.

Used the hanging strips that advertise they don't pull paint off the wall - watched the video, read the packaging for the weight of the picture, did everything it said and yes, you guessed it, two pictures fell down taking paint off the walls - wrote to the company and they pointed out in the very small print, you need to also measure the size of the picture - one of my pictures was slightly bigger, the other one was not, but they continuously provided a list of questions that were just ridiculous. Bunnings - please stop selling this product - it is terrible!

Absolutely shocking. Doesn't work AT ALL. Left them for 3 hours (when the instructions said 1) and the minute I put my frame up, it fell off and the frame broke. Amazing. Thanks for the waste of money.

This product has to be the most useless product ever invented. I wasted my money on a roll of this over a year ago. I have tried sticking up a variety of things around the house, always following instructions to the letter, ensuring also that the product stipulated that it was designed to hold up what ever it was that I was trying to do. EVERY SINGLE THING HAS FALLEN DOWN! I think the longest anything held up was about 48 hours. Absolute rubbish product. Please please don't waste your money.

Like pretty much everyone else on this thread, I wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing. Bought some of the small picture hooks (rated to 'HOLDS STRONG 750G') to hang some 630g 315mm square picture frames. Our apartment is only a few years old so the paint is professionally applied and was cleaned with isopropyl alcohol prior, hooks were left 24hrs (way more than the recommended 1hr) before hanging. I was awoken at 1am this morning to a loud crashing sound only to find one of the two frames I'd hung this past week lying in pieces on the tiles. Only yesterday I'd spent hours measuring up and attaching another 12 of these dreadful things to create a gallery wall. Now I'm going to have to remove them all, hopefully without damaging the paint so I can replace them with the 3M version which I should have just used in the first place. Yes, Bunnings really do need to stop stocking this rubbish product; I'll be going back there today with my damaged frame and the few remaining hooks for a refund and to let them know just how shoddy these things are. If only there was an option for zero stars.

The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) requires businesses to provide consumer guarantees for most consumer goods and services they sell - these products are clearly not fit for purpose. The loophole is requiring customers to have proof of original purchase receipt to be covered by guarantee (up to 12 months)... who keeps receipts for every single purchase they make? People should be contacting the ACCC and lodging formal complaints.

I have previously complained to them on how after correctly using their products my frames kept on falling down and breaking. They wanted to know what type of paint was on the wall, when was the wall painted, how wall was prepared, what was used to prepare etc etc... all questions used just to stall. It was mandatory to show proof of purchase, but who keeps receipts? I just accidentally bought their Removable Stick Dots yesterday and used them as per instructions. All I was doing was hanging some A4 laminated sheets. After an hour or so, thud thud... they kept on falling. So I checked the packaging and yep, I got Permastick's product by mistake... I was really angry with myself. No use complaining directly to them... not worth the effort. It's a Company with absolutely no Customer Service skills and one that sells far inferior products. I never have these problems wit 3M Command goods... same wall, same paint etc. Save your money... keep away folks. Well away. Michel

Recently moved into a new rental. Used permastik large stripsto hang things on the wall. First off, doesn't stick for long and doesn't hold very strongly, even though rated at 5kgs. Also when planning on removing, ripped a large amount of plaster from the wall. Very disappointed.

Perma P. – Perma Products Rep

Hi Pauline,

We're sorry to hear you were unsatisfied with our request for further information.

We ask these questions so that we can gather the most information possible to investigate the issues you've had with the product and find a resolution.
As per our email correspondence, we mentioned that if the product is indeed faulty the requested information is an invaluable opportunity to ensure that the problems are rectified at the source, which we are unable to determine without more information.

Thank you for including a photo with your other review, from your photo we can see that the strips have unfortunately been installed incorrectly.

Please note that the packaging instructions state to apply the strips vertically to the frame, you've installed them horizontally.
Also, please note that the packaging also states: 4 strip pairs are required per item hung, it seems you’ve only used 2.
Unfortunately using the strips outside of packaging instructions may cause them to behave in ways that are out of our control.

If you have any questions about our Permastik products or installation instructions, kindly contact our customer service team at https://www.permastik.com/contact/ and they will be happy to assist.

Kind regards,

I purchased a set of 12 of these clear plastic hooks for use in my daughters rented flat.
I followed the instructions to the letter and left the adhesive to set overnight before using.
Within about a minute of hanging a childs coat the hook failed. I had similar results with the other hooks.
Interestingly the tab was still firmly attached to the wall, it was the attachment to the plastic hook that had failed.
Seems to me to be a useless product that is not fit for purpose

Permastik ripped the paint off our brand new walls - first damage our new flat has taken, under 3 separate strips! Really unexpected and not too happy.
