We ordered a Pearl Mantels Marshall fireplace surround (540-48) from Northline Express for our new gas fireplace in our living room. Northline Express shipped the fireplace surround within a reasonable timeframe via XPO freight.
Upon delivery and opening the box, the mantel was severely damaged. The box itself was in acceptable condition; however, the header shelf and both legs were loose inside of the box. One corner on the top of the mantel shelf was crushed. All the joints had split paint due to separation of the adjoining materials. There were rub marks where the loose items rubbed against each other and even white paint rub marks inside of the cardboard box. Obviously, this mantel was subject to extreme shipping conditions, either from its place of manufacture in Vietnam to the warehouse, or from the warehouse to our residence.
We promptly left a voicemail message for Northline Express that evening describing the damage. A Northline Express representative called us the next day basically telling us that it was our responsibility since we did not inspect the mantel and refuse delivery prior to the driver leaving. The XPO driver left the box fastened to a pallet without us present. A "contactless delivery". How are we supposed to inspect and refuse delivery when the XPO driver left the package in our driveway and drove off without us even knowing?
This mantel is unusable and beyond repair. The snippy Northline Express representative stated that she was going to attempt filing a claim with XPO, but seemed doubtful the claim would be accepted. We attempted to reach out to Northline Express several times without a response. Fortunately, we contacted Pearl Mantels, and they sent us a free replacement. Their customer service is outstanding, and I would highly recommend purchasing a Pearl Mantels' product. Just not from Northline Express.
Good pricing and service. Fast delivery times. Only complaint I can think of is better tracking on shipping. Other then that, it was an overall great purchase. Thank you!

While watching the video, they were explaining how to measure for the correct size grate for your fireplace. Upon delivery the size did not fit my fireplace. It was too small, very disappointed on the video shown how to measure.

I'm still waiting for parts that they don't know when will be shipped, things have become backordered and then not backordered. I assumed I was ordering from a company that has all of their own stock on hand, but I believe they are just 3rd party seller to a degree.
I've ordered replacements from Amazon and received them In the time it took this company to figure out to availability of their own parts. Avoiding Amazon was another reason I chose this company.
