The company's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily surrounding its billing practices and customer service. Many users express frustration over unexpected charges, auto-renewal policies, and difficulty in obtaining refunds, indicating a lack of transparency and support. While some customers appreciate the app's user-friendly interface and helpful content, these positives are overshadowed by complaints about inadequate personal interaction and the perception of being misled into subscriptions. Overall, the feedback suggests a pressing need for the company to improve customer communication and address its billing practices to enhance trust and satisfaction.

I had read a lot of good things about Name and had a friend who lost some weight using it, so I thought I would give it a New Year's try. It seems to be heavily AI generated. There were no "specific" meal plans "tailored to my needs." I thought it would be far more interactive with a coach, and the only real interaction I had were was when I had trouble connecting my Fitbit to the program – which I never succeeded in doing. I had a doctor request lab work, but there was never any follow up asking "how are things going?" There were lots of small programs about exercise videos, What to eat, etc. But just seemed to come off as a calorie counting and step counting plan, which I can do without paying the money. I initially went with the medical plan that was included, but it simply showed that my meds were not being shipped. After I lost 6 pounds in the first week, the only thing I received was a AI generated "atta a boy." So I can do all this on my own and not pay the money. I guess some other people have found it worthwhile, but I spent more time meandering through the app and trying to figure it out Than I did sing the benefits from the program. Since I was in the trial. I did request a full refund and it was granted and easy to process. That I appreciated.
On the very first day of what was supposed to be a 7-Day free trial, my bank notified me by text, and email, that Noom was attempting to debit my account for almost $300. It was a requirement to enter my debit card information to begin the trial, which I didn't think was all together strange. Until 4:00 in the morning I was receiving these messages from my bank, I then froze my account completely. And at the beginning of the following business day had to close my account completely. That same day, the second day of what was supposed to be a 7 Day free trial, they had the nerve to email me and ask me to update my credit card information on my account because the funds were not available. Are you kidding me really? Do these people think that we were born yesterday or that we're going to stand for things like this? And they continued to email me continually several times a day, and after a few days, had the audacity to ask me for a review of my experience with Noom! And after reading this if you are actually considering using these people to assist you with weight loss, just know that the prices just keep going up and up, these people will drain your bank account if you allow them. They are literally capitalizing off of anyone that is desperate to lose weight of any amount. I was actually asking assistance with losing 30 lb, and I just wonder, not to be vulgar or rude, but would the price have been even higher if I'd have asked for their assistance with 100 lb Plus? Just be careful with these people and watch your bank account extremely closely, even after the end of the experience with these people. And I wish you the best of luck if so. And I was so stressed by all of this, and appalled, that I filed a report with the Federal trade commission,as well.
The app is constantly malfunctioning. At one point it would not update steps. Now I have been unable to get on for days and customer service responses are all canned from a Bot which are not helpful. I will not renew this program
The app works well enough for some people, but their billing is unscrupulous. Auto-renew for four months upon expiration of the initial subscription is built into the app. There are claims of a 7-day reminder in the app, but that needs to be configured by the consumer. If you miss setting that up, you'll be stuck paying for another four months whether you need it or not.
I did not set up auto renew. I only wanted to try noom for a few months. Some how my subscription renewed and noom took money out my account. The very next day I requested a refund and they will not give me one. They say they will cancel my subscription but I don't trust them.Im gonna change my bank card so they won't renew it again and charge me in February 2024. Be careful this company is Shady. I also just recently found out they just had a lawsuit for placing customers on auto pay and taking their money. Look it up online if you get a chance. They lost big money by unfair business practices.
They charge you a ridiculous fee every two months without a reminder. You can get a gym membership for that price. The entire app is totally common sense and isn't worth the amount of money. Their business model is that you forget to cancel the subscription. This absolutely isn't worth $700+ annual fee.
If you sign up for a 10 month program and forget about using it and forget to cancel they will renew without giving you notice. Should you ask for a refund, they will refuse. I am out nearly $200 for a program I neither used or want.
Tried this for about a month, didn't work for me. Stopped using the app. Doing taxes and find a renewal charge on a credit card a year later. The representative could barely speak English, hard to understand, but wouldn't credit me. So called the credit card company. Be very wary.
I have spoken to 3 different people at NOOM, and have received three different answers as to the cost with my PROMO code, whether it's still valid or not and more. In addition they say my info was deleted and I would have to wait a month to reuse my email address or use a different email address, which I don't have. ( I never did delete any info.) I feel that they are purposely confusing and even when they say they will have a supervisor call me back, they don't. I do not trust this company with access to my payment method where they can automatically make deductions
A lot of younger people are not aware that logging your meals and counting calories is a 1970s approach to dieting that has actually been proven to not work for most people.
I tried this app for one day and I was disgusted. Here it is in a nutshell.
You pay over a hundred dollars a month to log your meals and calories into their app while they give you hilarious little tid bits of information that can be found on a Google search for example: raw vegetables are healthier than cooked ones. That's it!
Please boycott these scammers.
They took an old school diet that most are too young to remember didn't work and they repackaged it and rebranded it to try and make a buck.
Weight loss is definitely about changing your habits but the commercials for this product are clearly false advertising because counting calories won't help you change your habits.
I would give this 0 stars if I could. This app was not helpful in the slightest. However, my biggest issue is with their deceptive advertising and how I was treated when I tried to cancel. I felt duped into buying the "subscription" which was going to last for four months. The app repeatedly hounds you to purchase a subscription and one wayward click and it's all over. When I tried to cancel after approximately three weeks, I was told I was only eligible for a refund if I cancelled within 14 days. I don't know how anyone trying a weight loss program would be able to decide if a weight loss app is helpful in less than two weeks. When I complained, I was essentially told "too bad" and that I'd be paying for the full 4 months, whether I used it or not. This was especially distressing given that my delay had to do with a death in the family. They did not care.
It's a scam, you quickly lose interest but even after cancellation Noom will randomly charge you an annual fee. When and if you catch the fee their customer service will conveniently tell you refunds are against their policy and offer you a credit to one of their upcharge products. Ultimately you are stuck trying to dispute the charge and get the money they stole back. BUYER BEWARE!
I would give zero stars if I could. TERRIBLE customer service. The program itself, was "mediocre at best" but when they charged me to renew and I thought I had cancelled my subscription, they basically told me "too bad". I reached out SECONDS after getting the email that my card was charged $175+ and explained the situation and no matter what they refused to give me any sort of refund. I haven't used the app in 6 months and had to re-download it just to message them. They claim they send out a notification that renewal is coming up, but I did not get that email. What a scam out of $175. They must stay in business based on people who sign up, stop using the app and forgot (or in my case, think they cancelled but their website is junk) and then refuse to be good humans and work with people.
This company not only doesn't accept your cancellation within first 24 hours, they bill you without notice and then tell you that you had never cancelled and want to keep your money, $179 isn't petty cash anymore. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with and everyone in my shoes should bring up a class action against….also asking me for proof of purchase which is a joke when I've never passed the trial time…. Cancelled immediately after registration…
Noom move away from small groups and put everyone in an area called circles with almost zero guidance on how to navigate this area. This was after they had trimmed their coaching ranks to save money. I signed up for Noom the way it was and now I am not getting what I payed for. So much frustration with the app and customer service is an absolute joke with this company. They really do not care anything about you aside from your subscription fee. Look elsewhere for help changing your mindset about food.
I tried using that for non-standardized measurement units ( Cups, Teaspoons, Tablespoons, etc.) but that's all I found useful in this service.
Also, the "free trial" is actually a subscription that will renew after the trial ends. Would be highly appreciated if you mention that with a bit bigger letters during the purchase.
The website is actually nice and pretty user-friendly.
BEWARE! NOOM is an awful company. I signed up for a 2 week trial. The company deluged my inbox with emails. I decided I did not want to use their services so I canceled. Then I get a credit card bill for August and September for almost $200.00. I called to get a refund, and the customer service rep told me I requested the refund past the time period allowed by their company. (Sept was the first full month of my canceled subscription. It is now Sept. 12th.) I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I will not be the first to complain. I see that the company has already been investigated by the BBB.
Noom does not care about the customers health, all they care about is how long they can keep you on the subscription. I called on behalf of my 75 year old mother who was unaware that she had the subscription on auto pay. (She's not good with technology) She kept getting charged $161.10 every 8 months not knowing why. This impacted her finances severely because she is currently retired and just living off social security. I (her daughter 26) called Noom customer service requesting a refund of the last charge and they refused to give the money back. The supervisor was extremely rude and just kept reading the text of their "policy and fine print" that states they are allowed to auto draft their customers. She had no remorse for the financial strain the company put my mother in. This company is heartless and does not care about your health but the money they can steal from you until you realize it.
Because they will take it and the app is garbage. If you already know that a cheeseburger isn't as good for you as a salad….do not do it! I never agreed to pay $200 for a 6 month subscription but yet here I am. Lots of money gone for absolutely nothing!
I just need to let those out there considering NOOM to pay attention to the first two letters --- 'NO!" They tricked me into signing up for multiple types of accounts (when I thought I was renewing their discounted one for another 8 months). I know they settled a lawsuit for $62 million for such practices... but of course I found that out AFTER I'd been tricked and apparently they haven't fully changed their ways. I asked for a refund for being tricked and they delayed it until I was outside their "30-day refund window" and then refused to refund the expenses. INFURIATING! DO NOT SIGN UP! I went back and forth multiple times with their so-called "support" - NOT! I asked them to elevate my claim and they wrote back once more and then closed my ticket. HIGHLY recommend AVOIDING them!
Answer: (800) 910-7375 is the phone number listed on the BBB website for NOON. It's a recording directing you to their website. I emailed the company to cancel (my trial). They responded in less than an hour and canceled/credited the charge. Can't complain about that.
