Living in Hong Kong, one of the most modern and affluent societies of the modern world with probably the freest export-import regime around, it is quite jarring to find that even a global company like Amazon won't deliver certain items to Hong Kong. I haven't been able to figure out the rationale but never mind. Thanks to MyUS.com, I am able to order whatever I like from the US and have it delivered home. This is true shopping freedom!
Using MyUS.com is simple and quick. For more than six months since I signed up (and I estimate at least two deliveries a month on average), I did not experience a glitch. But the true test of such a service would be the exception to the rule, right? When the machine doesn't work perfectly, do they have humans to sort things out, you wonder? I just got my answer.
Yesterday, a US-based vendor packed an extra item gratis with my order and did not include a value declaration, thus jamming the process. I sent an email to MyUS support and the problem was resolved within 24 hours. Without getting into the technical details here, Kristen of MyUS.com contacted me this morning (in Hong Kong) over email and was able to fix the issue within minutes.
So there you have it. Great concept, efficient execution and excellent service. I'm a fan!

Answer: Micaela, it all depends on the rules in Peru. I'm a MyUS customer and one of the reasons I like their service is because they give me a discount on the shipping cost, each time. There's an option in your shipping settings where you can select 'label as gift', usually customs aren't charged on gift items. Maybe you should try that once. Works for me all the time.
