They took down my site, they sent out emails to an old email. When I tried to ask for accounting and pay the bill by credit card they said they first needed to authenticate me? What? Why cant I just pay you and you get my site back up and running. They didn't care that I was loosing $. Company policies over customer satisfaction = Sucks! I'll be migrating the site in my slow times!
Turns out its almost impossible to transfer out domain. Very disappointing. Avoid at all costs, if you want waste time and your energy service, they are the ones to do it. They are the pushing their own limits of incompetence.
This is the copy of the response that this company gave me when they themselves stayed in 24 hours with the busy domain of a client that I did not renew on time.
However I have domains that expired 5 years ago to availability.
"Unfortunately, at this time the domain name is no longer available for renewal.
If you have any further questions, please chat with us at https :// helpchat..."
After being a client for more than 15 years mydomain are opportunistic and corrupt usurpers
Support Case *******
I started with them years ago. They have become worse and worse.
Their service is awful. Sites constantly going down, emails are slow and the customer service is a joke! Some poor indian guy desperately trying to help, but with no power at the other end.
EVERY week something went wrong
I NEVER write reviews, but i didnt want anyone else to go through what i have
After having a site I built myself with the weebly site builder through MYDOMAIN they took payment for the next three years on 7/2/2020 and two weeks later my website pops up a forbidden error message. A few clients alerted me to this and after four calls and numerous chat attempts nobody can tell me anything other than I never had a site with them. I even have initial screen shots of when I was building the website to prove otherwise but the company doesn't want to hear anything about it. Stay far away from this bogus company.
If you paid snapnames.com on a back order catch and it is at mydomain.com you just got ripped off. Mydomain.com will put them selves as admin of record, never send you a renewal notice, and lock the domain down, never to be unlocked ever, no matter what, now matter how many times you try, you will not be able to unlock the domain they will steal the domain from you. Even if you do get your email address as admin updated correctly, It expires because you could not get it unlocked to transfer out. At this point they auto send this stolen domain to enom where you can buy it again for $160 within the 40 grace period, mean while it is up at enom auctions as expired. So your only resolve is to send a help ticket to snapnames.com asking for a refund for the money you paid them to catch the domain in the first place. I personally think we need a sharp lawyer to start a class action lawsuit against snapnames.com and mydomain.com as co defendants, for us all to join in on. Ya dream on
Used for 2 years and cancelled my service since I no longer wanted the two domains I had hosted by this company. I cancelled my subscription, deleted my credit card information and thought I was done. Nope every year for the past 6 years these crooks will try and charge my credit card. I then have to wait days for this crooked charge to post so I can dispute it with my credit card provider. It isn't a lot of money but these people don't even respond to support tickets about a refund and cancelling. So I have to file a charge back twice a year when both of my cancelled domains get charged.
Been with these hucksters for many years, now decided to transfer my domains elsewhere, since their user interface is absolutely crap. Requested the AuthCode and it never gets sent to me. Tried 10 times still not arrived. Chatted to their support for 2 hours going around in circles, their test emails get through to me, but the AuthCode is nowhere to be seen. By definition this company (and EIG Ensurance) are scammers. Lookup the list of companies owner by this privacy equity parent and never use them.
After 15 years mydomain decided that my email address associated with the domain was not validated, so they placed the domain into "clienthold" status, which means all DNS entries are removed and it does not function at all. Now, the email address associated with this website was also 15 years old and out of date, so there was no easy fix to get it back online. There was zero correspondence to the account email (which was correct) warning of this.
Their backend hardly functions, you will find it timing out quite often and details not updating.
I would stay the hell away from mydomain, they are extremely incompetent and no one should put something as important as a website in their control, they will only ruin it.
I paid renewal fee 34.99$
Then I paid redemption fee 99.95$
Two days ago my domain still not active
Support service is very poor
I try to contact via Chat, open ticket in support but no clearly answer. I think I lost money and don't get my domain back.
I started with these folks in the 90's. Were OK then. NOW, OMG! What a Crap Show!
Double billings, completely messed up my access to my webs, claim they need payment
To fix what they broke! It's a never ending downhill spiral of crud with them!
Customer Service! LOL, only online chats with idiots in India who I've forgotten more than they'll
Ever know! This place is a TOTAL TRAIN WRECK!
RUN, RUN Quickly!
I have been using mydomain.com for more than 10 years, but recently in the past 2 years, they have been going around promoting their SITELOCK subscribtion. If your account isn't subscribed to SITELOCK, chances are, your website's going down. They will tell you your site has malicious files and down your site, to get it back up, only you can remove them. If you don't know how to, then you have to pay SITELOCK to do it for you. I had a few dormant sites and did not even log in or upload anything, then they claim that it was from my computer. If you host multiple sites on one account like I did, ALL your sites will go down. And it takes them ages to get it back up! 2 years back, they tried this trick, just this week, they try it again. GOODBYE mydomain.com, I'm bringing my business elsewhere! For the rest, don't host with them!
I have been with mydomain since 2003. As long as things were simple everything was fine. If you want a domain name or an email, my domain is OK. Now I have a website that has more than one page, they can't seem to handle it. In the past 2 weeks, my website has been down 11 days out of 14. I have had extensive contact with web support and they say everything is fine but I have no access to my website on the internet. Moreover, they LOST the last 3 years of my website! As in lost 4 page of my website and 2 1/2 years of my blogs. It's a good thing my webmaster had a backup. Mydomain didn't.
For the first 4 days, their support techs didn't know what the problem was with the website until they discovered the server was down. This is a preliminary problem anyone should have checked first.
I would not recommend my domain for anything except getting a domain name. They seem to be competent at that if nothing else.
Log files aren't being generated. Been broken for at least a few weeks, maybe longer. Have contacted live chat multiple times. No time estimate for fix.
As others say, mydomain.com has a trackrecord of regularly messing about their customers and not offering decent customer support.
Thank to their endless technical errors, my websites have been down repeatedly.
They don't answer support queries, email addresses or pick up the phone. Stay clear of mydomain.com!
I have tried to contact them 20 times in the last two weeks, using different means, without receiving a single reply from them.
I notice that the previous post was about year old. I might have agreed with it then but since then MyDomain.com has gone way down. I have 11 domains registered with them and now it is a nightmare. Don't try and contact them by phone. Hold times are almost an hour. When you do get someone on the phone they don't know what to do. If you have only one domain to use it might work for you. If you have more it is unusable. The catchall for ALL domains must be one e-mail address. They don't seem to care about the customers anymore. They've parked my domains and assured me that they will find out "why" they were done this way. NO answer to this day! I'm done with them. They've taken a working system and now made it unusable. I've been reading about others that have had the same trouble as I have and they are all scrambling to find another home.
I would recommend you find ANYone else to host your domain.
Don't touch this domain registration company with a bargepole. Ten years ago they were very competitive and efficient and I moved all my domains there. Their service has got more and more expensive and inefficient, and they make it as hard as possible for you to move elsewhere. They make a lot of money charging extra for domain privacy, which some other registrars offer as standard. And if you forget to renew a domain and it goes into "redemption period" they lock it and hold it to ransom. You have to pay $100 PLUS another year's registration just to get your own domain back. Dreadful, dreadful company.
They are beyond terrible. As the other commentators on this site have stated, mydomain.com are erratic, unstable and the level of customer service is shockingly poor.
Anything which is simple with every other domain name registrar is made a painful process by mydomain. For instance, changing your nameservers or moving domains to other registrars, which takes a matter of seconds to change the settings in the interfaces of other registrars, involves writing a dozen emails to mydomain.
Incompetent and bureacratic. They've caused me so much misery. No wonder the web is full of negative reviews about them more than any other major domain name registrar I've seen.
I purchased a new domain name for a new business from My Domains because I had used them to purchase two other domain names 3-4 years ago. They show a good deal but I did not buy the privacy add on which doulbes the cost because I did not understand it and hadn't had to before and between 13th and 16th four days My email is full of spam and my phone is getting constant calls from wed design spam! Bull $#*!. So I went back and bought their privacy but never again. JUST SELL exactly what we need for a price that is fair and don't leave ignorant unsuspecting people in such a mess and hassle. YOU GUYS SUCK!
I have been with my domain.com for about 10 years and have gone through many bumps with them... altho THIS YEAR (2012) they have outdone themselves. ALL my domains were deleted by a system glitch. It's been over a month and my email and my sites are all still offline. I have mostly been a hack in my business (part-time etc) but now it's time to be serious (full-time) about my business and these guys are not cut out for the service and quality I need. Emails just went back online today but I was just informed all my data was irretrievably lost. Everything I have built over the past decade (and a few things I hadn't backed up) was just deleted by my-domain.com... FAIL.
My advice, DO NOT buy or use services from this domain service provider.
Answer: You have to initiate / request the transfer from the company you want it to go TO.
MyDomain has a rating of 1.3 stars from 31 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with MyDomain most frequently mention credit card and customer service. MyDomain ranks 589th among Web Hosting sites.
