Music Magpie- Appalling After Care Service
November 8, 2021

I wish I could write a better review than this one but Im afraid MusicMagpie's after care service relating to defective products is appalling. I purchased a MacBook Pro 13" from them on 21 Oct. On 29th they informed me by email that the AC power adapter which they issued me with 'may carry a possible safety risk and sustained usage can lead the cable to develop a fault. A compatible replacement cable will be delivered to the address on your order within the next 2-3 days'. This has so far failed to arrive despite attempts to reach them at their complaints, enquiries and contact email addresses as well as their online internal enquiries section. This flagrant disregard for my own safety and the lack of interest in responding to any of my enquiries is dispiriting, drab and cheerless. I have opted to buy the cable and adaptor myself to avoid further delay as at present with a flat battery I am unable to use the laptop.

Avoid being defrauded
November 3, 2021

Having placed an order for a phone, the site promoted 50% off accessories for this phone. I ordered a good case and screen protector because of the offer. When finalising the payment the reduction wasn't applied. I let them know straight away. Cut a long drawn out bat and ball email conversation, having sent screen shots of the 50% advert, I was told that the reduction advertised was a mistake and that I could have 5% off instead. Sale of goods act 1974 seems to be too old for this bunch of bandits. Avoid buying and selling as they seem to be taking from those of us who can't afford new and giving to Mr Steve Oliver, CEO of a modern day equivalent of internet highway robbery. Shame on you and all who are held hostage by him. Speak up. Business needs a good reputation.

Beats me how this cowboys still in business, so l registered my interest to sell a pristine S20 (no option for pristine on their website, Good is the best description)

Took it to MusicMagpie Kiosk in Asda, after purportedly checks remotely by their technician, was offered £175, down from quoted £345 on their website.

This phone just got back from Samsung with brand new screen and battery in as good as new condition. Type `MusicMagpie Scam Price` in Google lead me to this site (wish, l had done before making a fruitless journey to Asda. Will be deleting my details from their website.

Moral of story, AVOID AT ALL COST, also read reviews of others so call Mobile Phone Buyers, they are all as bad.

I sold my old iPhone 11 pro to musicmagpie and got a quote for £360 for it - which they paid. However, the last 2 digits of my account number were in their system the wrong way round so the money got sent to someone else's account.
After spending ages on their online portal trying to speak to someone (and getting cut off twice by their agents), initially they wouldn't do anything because they had sent the money and therefore they "weren't liable".
After a lot of fight by me and posting a 1 star review on Trustpilot, Rebecca S from customer complaints contacted me - I must say, she was fantastic. She communicated with me excellently and passed the details over to the appropriate accounts team to retrieve the payment and repay the correct account. After a few days, she had resolved my problem and the money arrived in my account - thanks so much Rebecca.

Just a shame it was such a battle to get someone to care in the first place, hence 4 stars and not 5.

Do not trust the company!
November 1, 2021

I was ripped off by these people. When I returned an unused phone they claimed it was damaged and kept both my money and the phone. Their warranty is meaningless. Do not trust them!

I keep getting set backs
October 30, 2021

Music magpie I find them so irritating at times when ordering music from them I've experienced serval problems with them and I can't help but feel they are not listening you have a order number and a title for a album cd that you have ordered from them and it's still wrong you return the cd but wait about a week for your money back so you attempt to order the same album cd that you wanted in the first place and get a different order number and sit there hoping they get it right this time to make sure I have ordered the right album cd I go on to their chat line only to be informed about the first album cd and not about the second one I just don't get it but I will just have to wait until it sinks in and it all works out but not got much confidence in it happening and probably have to go through more conversations before it's sorted out

I have now had several orders that haven't been dispatched, I contact customer service and they say the courier has lost it, even though my eBay account says the item hasn't been dispatched yet. They say non dispatch is due to 'circumstances beyond our control' which to me suggests they don't actually have the item.

My latest order was due to be delivered by today, but it hasn't been dispatched. An email to customer service resulted in the 'due to circumstances beyond our control' message. I just know I'll contact them next week, and they'll say the courier has loast it, and here's a refund. They've had my money earning interest, and I won't have the item.

I will only use for cheap CD's and DVD's in the future.

Scammer
October 22, 2021

Don't use this lot for anything as it's a simple scam. They are the Webuyanycar of the tech world. Offer a great price then offer an insulting price when they have the item. In my case a MacBook that they valued at £330 and then reduced to £60 as it had screen peel. Well not on the high res image I took on the morning I boxed it up. I'll be interested to see how quickly it is returned and in what condition before I take them to the small claims court.

Agreed an offer of £198 for a perfect working iPad Pro 12.9. They said the backlight wasn't working so reviewed their offer to £36. I will definitely be checking it's the same one on return as I have all the original paperwork and numbers for it. They are thieves in my eyes.

Magpie Are Thieves
October 18, 2021

Sold them Cds, Dads, Books via Royal Mail. Got confirmation via email and app that they received them. Heard nothing for a couple of days, emailed them and asked them what's going on. They claim they not received items so I look on there website to see if you can buy the rare ones they would never get everyday I sold them and surprise surprise they are on there, whole list of them. Emailed them about this and not heard anything since. So basically they've stolen £100 worth of items from me.

Overpriced second hand iPhone11
October 9, 2021

I bought a 128GB iPhone 11 from musicMagpie in "pristine condition" priced £440.99 (with 10% off from £489.99 originally). This price is very close to the current Amazon/Apple price of the exact same phone at £539.00 BRAND NEW. The reason I didn't order it from Amazon/Apple was because you have to wait 1-2 months for delivery. I expected the phone from musicMagpie at that price to be hardly used and like new - not the case! Although the phone looked in good condition (though you could definitely see some signs of use), upon further inspection I realised it was two years old already (so one of the first released in September 2019) and the battery health was down to 85% so it must have seen some heavy use. By comparison, my teenage son's one-year-old iPhone 11 is still on 100% battery life with regular daily use! Very disappointing. A heavily used second hand phone should be no more than 50% of the price of a new device - and even then I think you're better off getting a new one, considering the resale value. Reading the reviews on TrustPilot (all glowing) makes me wonder whether they pay them to remove the negative reviews, or perhaps I was just unlucky. In any case, I sent the phone back and I'm now waiting to get my money back. I've already ordered a new one from Amazon - with interest free monthly payments - a much better deal. I mean it's a no brainer, really. MusicMagpie should be more transparent about the history of the devices they are selling and when they call something "pristine" it should relate to the usage as well not just the cosmetic appearance of the device and price them accordingly. Do your own market research so you don't get ripped off!

Don't use
October 7, 2021

I sent a phone in perfect working order and in excellent condition. As soon as they got the phone I received an email to say they revised my offer from £102 to £30 because the camera is damaged which is untrue because I used the phone a day before I sent it to them and it was perfect. I think they damaged the camera or are being dishonest about it being damaged. I requested my phone back.

I sold them a Macbook Pro Late 2013 in pristine condition with the original box, quoted at £302.
Sent them it using their pre-paid Royal Mail delivery service and received an email days later stating that I had to review my new offer because my product wasnt as described. They told me my Macbook had hardware faults and a cracked screen (I know this wasnt true because It was in perfect condition when I sent it). I demanded proof of the hardware fault and cracked screen and they sent me a low 500KB resolution photo showing nothing apart from 2 arrows stuck to the screen. My new offer was £50 - What a joke. I've found lots of threads from people who have experienced the same problem from these cowboys. I've emailed customer service and complaints and i've been on their live chat and i'm making no headway with this at all, they do not reply. If I receive my product back and it's damaged then I will be taking this further. The long story short - Do not sell your valuables to this company, they will lowball you. Here are the images of my Macbook before going to MM (I previously had it on eBay so had a lot of photos).

Please buy from a second hand shop to avoid this happening to you eg. Cex.-I had to send the phone back to them for repair but they said they received it with a cracked screen and they won't submit a claims form with Royal Mail as they said the box wasn't damaged, it could have been dropped or crushed but they don't want a bar of it-I made a claim for an ornament which was well packed but arrived broken with no damage to the box for an ebay customer which was no drama.
If I've lost my money on this I won't be using them again and with all the messages going to and frow they would have spent less time just filling out the form-Very stressful!
Update-(We have concluded that this item was received in the condition in which it was sent.)-They're calling me a liar. I've lost my money and will never use Music Magpie again.

Used CDs
September 10, 2021

I would say a fair percentage of their CDs are damaged, resulting in sound distortion, slips and sticks. They are good for DVDS but terrible for CDs. Don't touch them. They also charge you for returns, it's like dropping money down the drain.

Selling laptop stitch up
September 6, 2021

Went to sell my laptop, music magpie offered me £300 for it (its in mint condition) when it arrived they declined the original offer and offered me £30 instead citing all sorts of rubbish reasons for the price drop. Obviously once they have the device you are in no condition to contest it for another price as they have your device. All you can do is either accept their offer or decline it and wait for your item to be returned to you.
