What a terrible site. Hard to navigate. Awful customer service. Scams galore and no app. It appears that they created a site 20 years ago and forgot about maintaining and updating. There are far more credible sites out there.
The site use to be good 5 or 6 years ago. But now its Bad they delete your profile for unknown reasons. Not worth the monthly paid membership. The webmaster is a Scum Bag. I heard that he was in the Tampa Florida area and living a Hugh Heffner wanna be lifestyle. Typical Joe Blow with a fancy car who tries to get Laid with models.
Whether I'm using this for modeling connections or to share opportunities for casting calls with the members, Model Mayhem proves to be disappointing, unprofessional, and apathetic to helping its members. The only kind of people this benefits are the ones making the money off the sponsored castings or the ones that like to post trashy pictures and get comments for attention (these photos get approved much faster than real modeling photos for actual fashion and editorial work). They're flat out terrible and I will not be using them again. They took down my paid casting call because my profile is technically "model" but I use the site for both purposes (casting and modeling). It sounds like they don't want to help their members, but rather inconvenience them and promote tasteless work. You're better off using craigslist.
Been a paying customer for years to promote my fashion and swimwear photography. They shut down my account without any warning for posting two PG rated implied photos taken from a recent photoshoot. When asked if I could just remove it, they refused to refund or re-activate my account.
Would not recommend this company until they re-train their moderators. Terrible customer service and time is better spent on instagram and facebook where this is more active traffic.
Was a newbie model trying to get my name out there and more of the experience in return all I got were scams, and really mean threatening photographers. Had to take my site off twice, don't sign up worst choice you could possibly ever make. As well as all of their critiques
They force you to reduce all the pictures you upload to a miniature pixel level with low memory. Their customer service is rigid and not real bright, not following their own guidelines sometimes. They'll charge you a lot for running casting calls but you can do a lot better with free or other services.
F ModelMayhem, they've been around too long and smell like another Google Facebook Israeli monopoly
Model Mayhem (MM) is dead.
Most of the new members are retouchers who clog up friend requests. (Apparently taking one course in Photoshop makes you an artist.)
The remainder are "models" and "photographers" who submit as their portfolios a gaggle of color balance challenged images.
Add to this a self-serving clique who run the site like a North Korean Prison camp with all of the grace of a brain damaged guard at a Stalinist Gulag and you have a dead site.
Is there any hope?
Yes.
Institute a system where the members evaluate the Moderators for politeness, competence and honesty.
Will this happen?
No.
The Site is Dead but is Too Stupid to Know it!
Be very careful, unless you are a Slu. And don't care what happen as long as you get your five bucks. Told by many ladies that tried Model mayhem that the site is infested with rapists. One wrote me that she was drugged and when she wrote about it, evil mayhem deleted her account. Whenever someone write about bad experience you automatically get blocked from site. My self done nothing other than invite models to make videos. They deleted my account saying that is a violation. Really... Stay away from this site and read more more about the owners. Find out more info about them.
I guess I got lucky on the site till now. I reported a photographer for stealing photos after agreeing to doing TFP (time for portfolio. Essentially a trade, time and receiving the work you had done with the photographer. Keep in mind you have to trust this person once walking away from a photoshoot) the moderator of the site removed my experience I shared letting future models know what they can potentially experience, if choosing to work with this photographer. It was their priority to maintain the sites appeal over protecting users on their website. Untrustworthy to say the least to condone and defend this behavior with a user on their site by not letting me share my experience and give me warnings for sharing. Aside from that I did X rated personal photos for him as well and never saw a single photo clothed or not. (this was not my reason for writing this review. I chose to take additional photos cause I blindly trusted this person for marking himself as a professional) I will never trust or use this site again. I don't know who else they are allowing to use their site if this is what I'm seeing with my own eyes. They have been replaced with Instagram and other open, more safe medias anyways. I recommend using any site over this one. Dave Viet Photography located in San Diego was responsible for not returning my photos after strictly agreeing upon TFP. Stay safe models & photographers!
Moderators at Model Mayhem have double standards on what they will allow. They seem to target certain photographers and models. Even when they are shown photos they have allowed that are far more inappropriate, they will not be objective. They have a bullying quality about them. There definitely is not a clear definition of what the rules are. Today I am accused of submitting a photo of a model holding his genitals. It was a lace curtain and the hem was visible. The photo was taken from the back. Even though they charge you for "extra services", they will not let you participate if they have targeted you. They also lie about your past " infractions " but will not show proof. I have downgraded my membership. I think MM is becoming obsolete.
I paid for advertising, they banned my account then dropped the ad WITHOUT giving me a refund. Basically stole my money. The moderators are taking their jobs waaayyy to seriously. It's not a forum that enables businesses to grow any longer and there are many political reasons for who gets what job. Avoid at all cost and never do business with them... remember. It's up to them IF they want your ad to go live. In the event that they don't, you've already paid and you are the one out of money -not them.
It's a site that has potential to be great, but it's unfortunately loaded with unprofessional, douchebag moderators who ban or "brig" you for trivial reasons & talentless photographers who are just there to collect trophies (Meaning that they just want to take crappy photos of attractive models for their own benefit).
I am a photographer. Have maintained a piad membership of the MM site for several years.
In July, the jealous boyfriend of a model I photographed made a power play by posting a fabricated slander piece on a notorious scandal site. When this came to attention of the Keystone cop moderators, my account was deleted on a pretext. No warning, no appeal and no refund of fees.
I see from other reviews that shabby treatment of users by the so-called moderators is commonplace. Use this site only if you enjoy beng treated disrespectfully and ripped off for unearned membership fees.
I try to contribute to the MM community by participating in their Picture of the Day contest.
The mods drive me absolutely bonkers with their inconsistent judgements.
They are constantly giving me grief about the photos I submit. There's nothing wrong with the pics, the mods just like to make trouble out of thin air.
I advise people not to bother with Model Mayhem whatsoever.
These people are absolutely horrible. They shut down my account and my girlfriends account for no reason at all. They assumed we were breaking a rule and provided no proof at all. ONLY creepy male photographers looking to find women to get naked. Will be reporting them to the BBB and Department of consumer protection!
This is my first negative review of anything ever! That's how bad they are.
Stay away from this site. It is run by a couple of Nazis that will remove you from the site and take your money. I had posted on my site 4 images that were similar to hundreds of other images on the site. I was told the images were not appropriate for posting (they were posted in a "private" album) and was told to remove them. I attempted to discuss the situation with the moderators and was promptly removed from the site. No refund of my $100 annual membership which had 8 months to go. Not only will they take your money but will not remove your images from their site. If you know what is good for you - stay away.
That's all this site is. Steer clear and DO NOT let any women you know join. They have these $8 and hour moderators slinging girls for inappropriate things, The most well know is LIz a, she thinks she is a stellar model when in reality she is just a traveling prostitute with no agency experience.
The site may work for some but as with all sites that rely on free moderators it attracts wannabe fascists hence dissenting views are not allowed on the forums, by dissenting I mean views that arent right wing american
If you are a mediocre photographer or model that want to make bland photos this is probably the site for you, if you are an artist and want to push boundaries a little you will probably be banned
I reported a guy on their site that I found possibly unsafe and dangerous. They didn't care and blocked my profile instead. I would say not safe to connect with anyone on there because they don't protect the models on there.
So called "mods" terrorize the site and kick people out on a dime for personal - not professional - reasons. One photo could be the picture of the day on 18+ and the next photo could be deleted with no legit reason. One of my photos found too much and deleted and I argued that it was NOT. Next thing - booted out even as a VIP member. They still have my six month paid membership money. Do NOT become a member and do NOT play under kid's behaviors. STAY AWAY or they will steal your money too with no refund.
Answer: I'd look for updates on Ms. Cali Skye on a porn site... didn't see her on Model Mayhem...
Answer: Pretty much, same here... most of the folks I've met through Model Mayhem have been good to work with... 4/5 stars
Answer: ... ummmm... assume sour grapes and walk on by... or post your own testimony to counterbalance the inaccuracies... haters gonna hate...
Answer: It's a reasonable place to meet photographers... it is not a reasonable place to find fashion modeling work and agency representation... if you're looking to work as an art model, you will definitely have access to art photographers... yes, there are creeps - there are creeps in every walk of life... I like this site... it's been good for me, and I'm considering upgrading to a paid level...
Answer: Ok... near the upper right-hand corner of the screen, there is a longer dark gray rectangle... type the MM# in that blank and hit the enter key... Hope this helps!
Answer: Hi I would just search MM for location NYC and I think you can search based on blonde brunette etc and maybe height. I'm not sure because I don't search that way much. To find actual availability I'd pick some I like and message them to ask.
Answer: ... on each profile, there's an envelope icon... click on it, and it will open a message to that person...
Answer: Sounds dodgy to me... with only this info, I wouldn't do it...
Answer: This goes for both models and photographers. First, if the message you receive looks like it came from a Nigerian prince, just don't answer it. Next, compare the quality of images in their profile with the level of experience they are claiming in their bio. Next, actually contact the references listed on the profile page. Next, meet them in person for coffee. If no alarm bells are ringing, if nothing feels off, schedule a shoot. If something feels uncomfortable during a shoot, say so, and gauge what kind of response results. If anything feels iffy or wrong, more than merely uncomfortable, during the shoot, JUST LEAVE. To hell with the money, to hell with being "nice"... your safety comes first. Sure, there are consequences to doing this. There are consequences for every decision, ever. Make sure you're alive to deal with them.
