I cancelled my account on 8/27/24 4:02 PM Central Time. Thankfully I printed off the document showing I cancelled, but this morning, they hit my credit card for yet another year! So dishonest and you can NEVER TALK TO A LIVE PERSON. I have put in with me Credit Card to dispute. If you have cancelled this service. Make SURE you watch your credit card charges.HORRIBLE Dishostest Company.
I have a client that is looking to switch to e-fax. I am an IT field engineer and quite frankly, I am tired of going back and forth with the local LEC (local exchange carrier) with the faulty POTS line. Have been researching efax services, heavily, and I cam across Metrofax. Their pricing seemed OK compared to most but I still had some questions. I began live chat with an agent. Right away I was not pleased. Very long pauses in between answers; either they were being over worked or they were using a translator and I only say the latter because their grammar was not proper English. So, strike #1.
I asked about cancellation if we sign up for a year and if we, for instance, were not very happy with the service, could we cancel and get a pro-rated refund. Another very long pause in communication, the agent came back and said that we could cancel at any time... I pressed the issue about refunds and asked where at in the terms and conditions she could point me to where it would be legally binding... she then said refunds are not allowed. Strike #2.
Now I am very suspicious so I google "problems with metrofax" and came across this site.
After reading through the common and reoccurring complaints, Strike #3, they're out and done. I wouldn't touch them with a 10 ft pole. I thanked her for her time and told her that I am no longer interested due to the plethora of bad reviews and lack of positives.
FYI: for those reading this review because of it being so hard to cancel a subscription; google " FTC hard to cancel " to get you started. Also, use a 1 time use virtual credit card if your bank offers such a thing (they generate a credit card number to use that will only work 1 time so reoccurring fees and other charges would then get declined).
Good luck everyone!
I cancelled this scam company at least 3 times. They even somehow got ahold of my new credit card info and updated my account themselves! Trust me go elsewhere if you really have to send a fax
This service doesn't allow for a BAA...and if you attempt to move your number, there are fees that are punitive. There is no reason for a $500 porting fee.
Skip on this one. The service is inconsistent and overpriced, and once you're there, it's impossible to leave.
This company is higher priced than most others and has no telephone support. I ran into a problem 24 hours ago and emailed them immediately. I have yet to hear back. I am a psychotherapist and must have a secure fax service that is useable at all times. Metro Fax is not it! Furthermore, they charge a $30 cancellation fee and $40 to prot your existing phone number. I do NOT erecommend this service!
Won't accept cancellation request. First was supposed to do it via their website which I did and did not receive a confirmation of my request of any kind. Then I was supposed to email them which I did and did not receive any reply or action to my email. Then I was supposed to cancel via their portal again which did not allow me to cancel and asked me to chat with an agent - which didn't work.
Keeps charging my card. Won't respond. Don't have a phone number or a way to talk to someone. This company is committing a modern form of stealing that doesn't seem to get the attention of VISA or the authorities. They should have their VISA and other merchant licenses revoked immediately, be fined, be shut down and criminally charged. The only solution was for me to cancel my credit card after they've stole over $150 of my money which is a huge inconvenience.
These people are ridiculous! Charged me months ago during trial for a fax that didn't go through called them and emailed and their response was it was to a company number was why I was charged. Seriously. Canceled they charged me anyway, tried to cancel wouldn't go through called disputed charged now months later charging again Ordering new card
Subscriber for 15 years. When I decided to cancel, they refused and charged my Credit Card anyway. I am working on the dispute with the Credit Card merchant now. Their response to the credit card was that the fees are non-refundable.
Do not fall into the trap of this, once I had chosen this- I was not able to cancel it from their website and they kept on charging me.
I used this service one time, cancelled it and got a confirmation email.
Then I was hospitalized with COVID.
When I started getting back into my bills, I saw that they are continuing to bill me.
I tried to call, but they have no phone support.
I emailed, but no response.
I will have to dispute the charges on my card.
I had very important papers to fax so decided to use metro fax. After many tries and it would not work, i tried many, many times to call but could not get an answer. I tried to cancel on their web page but it would not work. After persistent calling for 2 months I finally said to the recording I was interested in getting metro fax and someone was on line right away. I finally got it cancelled but they would not refund the 2 charges while I tried to get someone to help me to no avail. It doesn't work and they are crooks. And rude once they found out I wanted to cancel something that never worked and was useless.
Been using this for a few years but support is useless, now that they suspended our account for some strange reason, we can no longer log back in! Goes in a constant loop!
Don't get tricked by Metrofax 14 day free trial, as it turns out it is not free and has hidden fees, you get charged for something you have not used and will not use (in my case charged for 100 pages against 24 sent). My free trial took only 2 hours after which I demanded to cancel my subscription.
I purchased a free trial today for 14 days, no activation fee, sounded great, attractive and their platform is convenient.
I was sending fax to France, had 2 unsuccessful and 1 successful try to send fax (total 24 pg). I had not received the delivery confirmation in email yet, when my access was blocked. From first attempt to send fax I was charged $10, I thought it was for activation, but as it turns out it was for international fax not even knowing yet how many pages I was going to send ($0.10 per page x 100) I was charged for 100 pages and no logical explanation from any agent why. I contacted via chat with 4 agents. First one said I am on multiple chats and will respond as soon as I can, and disconnected without helping me. Second just said hi, and I ended up talking to third agent named David. His explanation was that since I am sending international fax I am charged $10 for 100 pages allocated to me for that month, he could not even give me a breakdown how much I was charged per page. I located that info myself, $0.10 p/p to France. And he referred me to terms of service. Terms of service referred to paid subscription, not free trial. Nothing saying that international fax is not covered by free trial. I demanded to cancel my account and give refund, which he refused saying the charge is for 100 pages international. I only sent 24 international, he does not even know if I will use all 100 for international or not, local US and Canada have no fees. Even though I don't know where he took from 100 pages allocated to me, my plan of free trial and later $11.75 p/m gave me 550 pages send/receive, after free trial 550 send/receive any time within 30 days. It says free trial - no contract - no activation fee. As long as it goes to refund I am referred to terms of use which basically is a contract. The issue is not in $10, it is a principle, because MetroFax should not attract people when there are hidden terms of use, that you discover suddenly when charged. MetroFax must really also work on their customer service, I don't have hours to sit and wait until the agent will respond to multiple customers and will not even give satisfactory information because the window times out or agent gives info and ends chat without asking if I have more questions. Very disappointed! I have used different services and none of the services have this type of service, and no phone number to call. Last 4th agent opened ticket saying will refer to financial dep, but no guarantee for refund, as they will be investigating. At least last but not least agent had good answer, instead of just saying no we do not give any refund to anyone. Absurd!
They do not respond to emails they make cancelling your unused account impossible.
File a complaint with the FCC make a police report and notify your credit card company.
As you'll see in the screengrab below the agent ENDED THE CHAT never responding to my request.
This service was suppose to be free for the first month. I only sent 1 fax in the first month and I was unable to login afterwards. I received an email to contact customer support however, there is no support person to contact. I tried emailing the support center but the noreply email states I need to login to my account. So, I can't login, I can't email support but they take 2 months service free that I only had one month and it was free for the first month. They know what they are doing especially because they don't have anyway to reach support or billing. This is a terrible service. Scummy and definitely fraudulent! Beware.
If you're like me, you needed a fax number for a specific thing. You got it with metrofax. Now it's impossible to cancel. In the help section it tells you to go click a button elsewhere. Clicking this button tells you that you can't cancel and you have to chat with an agent.
Chatting with an agent is actually chatting with a bot.
Elsewhere it tells you to email *******@metrofax.com - of course, that just bounces back.
You get the idea. Avoid like the plague that it is.
When I signed up, there was phone support. Now everything has to be done online or through their portal. I tried to cancel through email. But they still billed me for the next month. Tried cancelling through their portal, but it's not allowing me to, until I pay for next month. These people do not make it easy to cancel. They only want your money. Another rip-off.
Metro Fax does not deserve to be in business.
They made an unauthorized charge to my credit card for $0.13 on the first day
After you start a free trial you can not cancel
Never get a live agent at customer chat
Scam in the worst sense
Answer: It seems they have none especially if you try to cancel your subscription
