I am a psychotherapist and must have a secure fax service that is useable at all times. Metro Fax is not it! Furthermore, they charge a $30 cancellation fee and $40 to prot your existing phone number. I do NOT erecommend this service!

I cancelled this scam company at least 3 times. They even somehow got ahold of my new credit card info and updated my account themselves! Trust me go elsewhere if you really have to send a fax

This service doesn't allow for a BAA...and if you attempt to move your number, there are fees that are punitive. There is no reason for a $500 porting fee.

Won't accept cancellation request. First was supposed to do it via their website which I did and did not receive a confirmation of my request of any kind. Then I was supposed to email them which I did and did not receive any reply or action to my email. Then I was supposed to cancel via their portal again which did not allow me to cancel and asked me to chat with an agent - which didn't work.
Keeps charging my card. Won't respond. Don't have a phone number or a way to talk to someone. This company is committing a modern form of stealing that doesn't seem to get the attention of VISA or the authorities. They should have their VISA and other merchant licenses revoked immediately, be fined, be shut down and criminally charged. The only solution was for me to cancel my credit card after they've stole over $150 of my money which is a huge inconvenience.

If you're like me, you needed a fax number for a specific thing. You got it with metrofax. Now it's impossible to cancel. In the help section it tells you to go click a button elsewhere. Clicking this button tells you that you can't cancel and you have to chat with an agent.
Chatting with an agent is actually chatting with a bot.
Elsewhere it tells you to email *******@metrofax.com - of course, that just bounces back.
You get the idea. Avoid like the plague that it is.
I subscribed for one year and barely used the service. When they processed one year renewal next time, I canceled the service within two weeks and asked for a refund. They denied my refund. I would understand if they had pro rated the charges, but keeping a one year cost for less than one month of use is totally unfair! I do not recommend this service to anyone! Don't like companies that are not fair to customers.

Do not pay for one year of service, even though they give you a small reduction on the cost, but if you cancel any time during the year, you don’t get a refund, even if you only used the service two weeks!

These people are ridiculous! Charged me months ago during trial for a fax that didn't go through called them and emailed and their response was it was to a company number was why I was charged. Seriously. Canceled they charged me anyway, tried to cancel wouldn't go through called disputed charged now months later charging again Ordering new card

Then I was hospitalized with COVID.
When I started getting back into my bills, I saw that they are continuing to bill me.
I tried to call, but they have no phone support.

I feel swindled!
I tried to take advantage of their free trial period as I needed to send one fax only. Despite many attempts to cancel and obtain a refund, I have now paid $40USD to send the one fax that was supposed to be free. I finally have a confirmation number of my subscription cancellation, so my fingers are crossed that this time it will stick.

Stay away from this company! The promise a free trial, but then make it just about impossible to cancel. It took me 4 months worth of messages to finally get my account cancelled.

I had very important papers to fax so decided to use metro fax. After many tries and it would not work, i tried many, many times to call but could not get an answer. I tried to cancel on their web page but it would not work. After persistent calling for 2 months I finally said to the recording I was interested in getting metro fax and someone was on line right away. I finally got it cancelled but they would not refund the 2 charges while I tried to get someone to help me to no avail. It doesn't work and they are crooks. And rude once they found out I wanted to cancel something that never worked and was useless.

File a complaint with the FCC make a police report and notify your credit card company.

When I signed up, there was phone support. Now everything has to be done online or through their portal. I tried to cancel through email. But they still billed me for the next month. Tried cancelling through their portal, but it's not allowing me to, until I pay for next month. These people do not make it easy to cancel. They only want your money. Another rip-off.

I've used this service for about 15 years, and have loved it--until we had to install the SPF, and it
Would not send a fax without it.
It called for knowing my domain, or server, and I just use a common (although standard business) microsoft outlook email. Most of us don't know our demain name or server. Now, I'm not sure if I did it correctly. Is there any way to tell? Other than that, it has been a terrific service for my business. I could fax from anywhere and receive anywhere in or out of the country. It was very reasonable for the application, and I hope I can use it again.

The other negative reviews on this company deceptively preventing service cancelation are true. There seems that nobody is available to call directly to stop a service I no longer require. The online site will not allow you to cancel until they allegedly wait for a final payment. Very predatory practice. I will be filing an official complaint through the State Attorney for credit card fraud activities since they force repetitive payments without a timely and responsive customer support mechanism. Customers are unnecessarily paying for a product they cannot opt out of.

I was alerted by a client that his fax could not go through. I tried with my landline fax, and it did not go through. Tried to call customer service (had to search Internet for a number) and got a recording, "Telephone customer service is no longer available." Long holiday weekend and nothing I can do until Tuesday - outrageous! I am obviously switching companies first thing Tuesday.

Subscriber for 15 years. When I decided to cancel, they refused and charged my Credit Card anyway. I am working on the dispute with the Credit Card merchant now. Their response to the credit card was that the fees are non-refundable.
I have been attempted to cancel my "subscription". Used the online cancellation instructions but received an email saying I could not cancel online, and I am required to cancel only through their "Online Chat" which does not work. Tried on both my phone and laptop with the same results. Finally found a number to call through my bank, but MetroFax is not longer providing live support. In my view MetroFax is a dishonest company with no way to cancel service. I recommend never doing business with MetroFax. Reading the Company's response to negative reviews is like a broken record. Nothing gets resolved, just do not care, MetroFax has your money.
**********UPDATE***********
1 Feb 2021: Sent email to "Fiona M" as she requested. Company has not responded, acknowledged or cancelled my account per my verified request. Next step I have taken has been to prepare a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, Federal Communication Commission, California Attorney General and the FBI to investigate if MetroFax is committing credit card and wire fraud.

I have a client that is looking to switch to e-fax. I am an IT field engineer and quite frankly, I am tired of going back and forth with the local LEC (local exchange carrier) with the faulty POTS line. Have been researching efax services, heavily, and I cam across Metrofax. Their pricing seemed OK compared to most but I still had some questions. I began live chat with an agent. Right away I was not pleased. Very long pauses in between answers; either they were being over worked or they were using a translator and I only say the latter because their grammar was not proper English. So, strike #1.
I asked about cancellation if we sign up for a year and if we, for instance, were not very happy with the service, could we cancel and get a pro-rated refund. Another very long pause in communication, the agent came back and said that we could cancel at any time... I pressed the issue about refunds and asked where at in the terms and conditions she could point me to where it would be legally binding... she then said refunds are not allowed. Strike #2.
Now I am very suspicious so I google "problems with metrofax" and came across this site.
After reading through the common and reoccurring complaints, Strike #3, they're out and done. I wouldn't touch them with a 10 ft pole. I thanked her for her time and told her that I am no longer interested due to the plethora of bad reviews and lack of positives.
FYI: for those reading this review because of it being so hard to cancel a subscription; google " FTC hard to cancel " to get you started. Also, use a 1 time use virtual credit card if your bank offers such a thing (they generate a credit card number to use that will only work 1 time so reoccurring fees and other charges would then get declined).

Thankfully this group could not respond to simple chat questions - just ghosted me and then another agent would pop on and ghost me. I was leery of signing up with a company that couldn't seem to answer basic questions for a prospective client. That led me to this review page where my suspicions have been confirmed. First off, actual service is fine... I was able to send and receive faxes just fine. When I set up my account, they gave me $4/mo plan since I rarely use faxes. I prepaid the account since I didnt want to deal with a monthly bill of such a small amount. No one advised me that any prepaid amount is non refundable. Fast forward a year, they sent me an email that my price is gonna double. They refuse to refund MY credit balance or honor the $4/mo price until my balance is used. I have no problem with a company wanting to charge more since I can choose to pay more or leave, however they never told me the $4/mo plan was only for the first year and never told me any credit balance is not refundable. They are owned by EFAX, just a cheaper alternative they can throw a customer to if they refuse to pay EFAX's high prices. I will stay with them until my credit balance is gone and then I am going to redfax.com
