Metacritic aggregates reviews from various critics, providing a comprehensive score for movies, games, and music. It's my first stop when deciding what to watch or play. The combination of critic and user scores offers a balanced perspective.
Why is it that when I try to load a website, it gives the code 404 message? At least it doesn't show that ugly pop up reading Adblocker is detected. But that's not my main issue. The real problem is trying to write a review via the mobile device. All the more reasons to not trust metacritic.
Metacritic is a website where both users, and critics can review just about every movie, TV show, video game and song for the public to see. This can be pretty helpful for those who are unsure if what they're looking for is worth spending money on. However, there is a con. Lack of moderators moderating when they should is one of them. Sometimes there are users who obviously never owned the product or are just there to troll because they're on their fanboy status. They'll spitefully make different accounts so they could bring down the score of a product and bring up a score of their favorite product so it could look better. This is the problem that mainly happens with Video games on this website. Metacritic is a great place to create and look for review. However mods need to knock off the trolls and fanboys.
I will literally never buy a game or movie if the score on Metacritic is lower than 50. I would recommend everyone to check this website before buying anything :)
Its alright in a sense i guess. I can easily find real reviews which gives it 3 stars. However the fact that there could be a possibility of bullies, rule breakers, and trolls gives it 0 stars.
Metacritic is an utterly putrid website that seemingly prides itself on blindly and automatically punishing It's most important aspect, the users by relentlessly banning any and all reviews who even has a slight nudge hint of a report or two against it which is very often the case for any positive or negative reviews due to some people having different thoughts or just spite against the person who originally wrote it for their opinions on an opinion-sharing website.
Don't believe me? Go ahead and check out any remotely old review-page for example, a video game and then look at the user reviews: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/osmos/user-reviews
And see just how many of those people you can't "See more reviews from". That's a sign of their account being PERMANENTLY banned by Metacritic. No appeals about any bans, no information regarding any bans and definitely no notices. They just smack more than half of their user-base into the ground with bans while deleting thousands of reviews every day due to the flood of meritless user reports without having a single human being even look at 5% of them.
Due to this self-mutilating treatment of the users and the rampaging banning, Metacritic is today instead majorly inhabitated by bots: http://i.imgur.com/OBNNS9n.jpg
A dead giveaway to these is how they all give 9/10 or 10/10 to one and one product only to maximize the amount of effect on the total user-score rating while also having completely blank profiles with no other products reviewed ever. I even tried contacting the BBB regarding Metacritic's business practices and the only response I got from them was "If you don't like it, don't use it", making no specific notes towards anything I said be it the suppression of human rights to free speech or how they favorite some professional review websites over others.
Simply put, a very disgusting website that fails on every aspect where It set itself out to fulfill which I can only whole-heartedly recommend anyone to avoid.
