I sold an item on this site. The item was shipped on time but was lost in transit to buyer. I contacted support because they advertise that sellers are protected fron this sort of thing. Instead of helping, support deleted my listing & wrongfully claimed that I used a stock photo and then ignored my requests for help. I was told there is no number to call. They did this so they didn't have to pay the claim. They told the buyer they cancelled it and that it wasn't covered under protection because she didn't purchase insurance. What the? They don't even offer insurance. They send us a label in email and we use it! Bunch of Scammers!
I've used mercari a hand full of times to buy and sell items. Since selling I've discovered that they don't offer a means for you as the seller to collect shipping. You have no choice but to use their label system and if by chance you have an issue with the label you could wait up to 2 days to have you issue resolved, 2 DAYS that your customer is going to have to wait for you to be able to provide tracking! If you don't want to use this faulty system you only have the option to have free shipping which you come out of pocket for! One of the most broken systems I've ever seen in a buying and selling service, FB sale is even better than this mess smh do not waste your time with mercari! I will be keeping my store on eBay!
I use to sell at other platforms and I have sold over 1000 items and I am a five star seller. If YOU the buyer are not sue about a description just ask. Most sellers will post more pictures, do YOUR due diligence and ASK! If the

We have been buying and selling on Mercari for 4-5 years. Had over 2500 sales with a 5 star reputation. They froze our account asking for picture of drivers license and picture of my face for facial recognition. Gave them all the information they asked for and account is still locked indefinately with over $1000. 00 balance on it.
Mercari is scam and customer service is worst. Most of the items are fake not legitimate. In 3 days customers should check if they are working 4th day nothing will work and they don't responsible anymore,

Mercari has terrible customer service. They do not have any capability to engage with customers over the phone, but instead limit all interactions to email chains. If an issue is not resovelable by email it does not get resolved. They do not value their marketplace place participants. Decided to delete the app and not participate in their market place.
I ordered from Mercari. For some reason, my order was delivered back to the seller - I never received it. I ordered it for a special occasion. I requested a refund from Mercari and they stated that I would have to wait almost 1 month - even though tracking showed it went back to the seller. They would not answer me when I asked 1 month. Obviously, scammers! Will file a dispute with credit card against this crooked site!
I bought a product worth $300+ from the Seller which was shipped to the wrong address. I reached out to the Seller but received no response. I contacted the Mercari customer service to assist but they noted that once a product has been shipped they cannot help. This is terrible Buyer Protection.
Beware before you buy! This site and its Customer service completely favor the seller. I purchased an item that was not as described at all, so I wanted to return it. Left a message for the seller who completely ignored me. Contacted customer service, and once they finally got back to me, they informed me that I was outside the three day period and I couldn't return the the lying seller's item that I had been sent! I was outside the three days because no one got back to me in time! So I was nice, tried to give the seller the opportunity to fix things, and I got screwed over by her and their so called customer service. Now I'm stuck with a expensive bag I'll never use. As far as I'm concerned, mecari is far inferior to eBay in every way. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone!
I tried to purchase a phone from a few sellers and was directed away from the site in order to complete the purchase. Total scam! I did not complete any of the transactions. Also, I noticed that all of the sellers that I encountered were very young, which made me a bit Leary. Don't take a chance with your money. Too many red flags.
They favor dishonest buyers who lie about the condition they receive a product in and then return items in a worse condition. They will not ever side with a seller, even when the seller provides photo evidence of a buyer being dishonest. Do not waste your time shopping/selling on Mercari.
I purchased a pair of boots described as "like new", upon receiving I tried them on and the faux leather started crumbling and started to disintegrate. I immediately followed return policy and took photos and requested a return. The return was denied stating I didn't file within 24 hours, actually FedEx delivered Friday morning April 29th and requested the return at 2:00pm that day. Please see photos below.
Ordered a Gucci beanie. Seller minimized photo's to be deceptive, stated it was unisex. The beanie measures almost 12 x 12. It slid down my whole face, who has a head that is a foot big? Terrible site, says it has a buyer protection warranty. It has nothing... BUYER BEWARE!
Was sent a broken guitar and when I asked the seller Sally Mac for assistance she replied with vulgar threats even hinting she would shoot me. Stay clear of this company. They wouldn't even respond and when I canceled payment because know one would respond they lock u out. Horrible company.
Tried to buy a pair of shoes. Seller couldn't find one of them. WTH? Selling only one shoe? Mercari blocks you from contacting them or the seller, or from leaving a review if an order is cancelled or messed up, so I blocked them. 1st & last time I'll shop there.
If I could give a review of 0, I would! I purchased a product from this website and received the item in extremely poor condition. It was a Christmas present for my son. I immediately wrapped the box when I received it and when my son opened the box the item had been used and was sticky. This was sold as a collectible not a toy. I contacted customer service several times with no resolution, at least to my satisfaction. I am stuck with a $90 "toy". Mercari didn't even attempt to back the item sold on their website. I am thoroughly disgusted that there was not attempt to help me out and obtain the item I actually purchased.
I ordered a women's shwinn hybrid bike. Waited over a week for it to be shipped. We were on a planned trip when arrived so could not rate. Once we saw product it was a men's mountain bike NOT even a shwinn! Mercari would not support this problem. We now have a bike that's useless. Box was also partially opened. I have only tried to buy from Mercari once, and sadly it will be my last. I was so excited to find a rare treasure on this website, only to never receive it. The seller had 3 days to ship the item, so after 5 days I attempted contacting the seller and Mercari to no avail. Is this an actual legitimate website?
I bought an item an Apple product that was listed by the seller as new. Upon receipt, I determined this item was not new, as the security seal placed by Apple was missing. In addition, the item did not perform to specs. With Mercari, you are not allow to contact the seller after purchase. I then used Mercari's return center online. A short time later I received a reply that Mercari will not oversee the return of the defective and fraudulently listed item, and I just need to tough it. CSR wished me luck the next time I purchase an item on Mercari. Of course, there will be no next time in face of Mercari's protecting unethical and fraudulent sellers. One should avoid Mercari at all costs.
This app is worst ever! I purchased a Louis Vuitton Wallet cost 180 dollars. I was so excited that I bought it that price it was listed authentic and since it was my first purchase I never thought it was a fake which I found out after 30 minute. I contacted to return but they said I cannot return because I confirm already. I contacted the seller but he block me. Oh my i contacted then my bank to help but they needed a certificate to prove it is fake. I drove 3 hours with my 1 year old child to find a store To certify it is fake but I find none. So that's it I paid 180 for a fake Louis vuitton wallet They never consider I am new and naive in using their app!.
