Before I paid to subscribe I was already receiving notifications that I had a match. All I had entered was my last name. After I subscribed I realized I was getting views from men outside my state. The men viewing and liking were out of the age range I preferred. I responded to two icebreaker questions and received no response from either person. I don't think this is a good website to even just find someone to conversate with, much less, find someone to date.

As a man of 50+ in one month's time I DID 'meet' one or two genuine women. BUT the other 99% 1)never read my Profile although claiming they had 2) had some form of contact info OR pushed me to give mine 3)were all in their early 20s-30s 4)many wanted phone sex or for me to watch their sex cams. In one month I had over 400 "Interests" and 170 Emails! And once you've had a membership and let it lapse, you can't do much of anything but look at "who's interested in you". High monthly charges too! I contacted "Customer Service" regarding the supposed "violations - contact info; inappropriate conduct, etc... NOTHING!
It's too bad as it COULD be a legitimate site if the owners cared for their members.

This needs a negative 2 stars. When someone wrote that the profiles were full of fake women scammers from Africa I had the same thing happen to me except with a guy on the fake profile side. He confessed his undying love to me over a 3 week span. Never meeting because he was on "business" trips... then asked me to wire $7,300.00 to him
He had a great story. Very believable. And had I been one who "needed" that attention I could see falling for that trap.
DO NOT SEND MONEY... EVER LADIES. SCAM SCAM SCAM. Even if u don't want to believe it. TURN HIM DOWN! I ran across this guy again under another profile name. SAME SITE..."reliable_dad" was one and "myohmy*******" was the second. And he went by Marcus Alfrado Davidson.
But the name doesn't matter... DONT SEND MONEY. EVER!

After one week on the site I have pulled my profile due to the number of false or misleading profiles I was contacted by many of the user's but to my dismay EVERY LAST ONE TURNED OUT TO BE FROM AFRICA OR SOME OTHER
COUNTRY and all asked for money to be sent after some small talk professing their love after 15 to 20 minutes of conversation I don't know maybe I'm just skeptical but I don't see how anybody could move to that after a few text messages so please everyone be aware that in my opinion I do not believe this is a website that is on the up-and-up

Last summer and fall, I used a different site for three months. About half of the women answered when I wrote to them. I had about ten dates.

There's a huge difference on Mate1! About half of the women have had their profiles removed when I click on the email link from my regular email. Those were probably already discovered to be fakes. Of the remainder, all but three never answered -- and I put a fair amount of effort into contacting potential dates. I never posted or sent anything that would be a turn-off, such as a solicitation of sex or naked photos. I am almost totally being ignored but maybe it's by non-existent women -- fake profiles, in other words.

I can tell some of the women are not who they say they are. As a professional writer, I can pick out non-native use of English fairly easily. They say they're from Las Vegas or Miami but their usage is distinctly Eastern European. In that same group, several women were much younger than my preferred age range. It seems to happen often. They commonly hide phone numbers in their profiles, asking for texts. I fell for that once but ONLY ONCE!

Is that enough? I feel as if I'm throwing away $60.00 for three months of nothing.

Paid for 3mo up front after getting a boat load of messages. Can't read messages till you pay. Out of 100+, two were actually written. The others were "ice breakers" when I clicked on the profile 75% were already removed. In one instance within 5 min of getting the email alert. Two days after I paid my account was hacked, and the hacker sent out 100s of messages. Was able to get in and shut down profile. Lost my money no way to contact these guys without having an account. Eff em. Additionally the day after I shut down the account someone tried to access the email I used for the site. So no no no no no no no

I came to the conclusion that this site is a total scam and ripe off. I feel that I'm a decent and honest guy and I had my profile reviewed by my friends and felt that I should received many query's. I'm the type of person that reaches out to people and doing a search for local ladies I sent out messages of introduction and as a matter of fact of over 50 and not one response received back I can't believe that 50 people don't have the manners or common decency to reply by saying thank you but not interested which is something I would do. Therefore I feel that all the profiles are false and made up my Mate 1. I even wrote to them complaining of this and never received a response. I even wrote to ladies way outside my local area and again the same. I also belong to POF whereas I do receive responses to my messages. To all of you people that are thinking of joining this site save your money and time strictly a rip off. If you call them your always on hold for over 30 minutes before they finally pick up and the person that does answer must be the custodian can never get a straight answer... you all were warned stay away they do not deliver.

Mate1 could be all junk I agree but cannot say for certain since I never upgraded my membership because I felt something was amiss. After reading the reviews by various others here I am happy for not having fallen prey to this online fraud but that is not the reason for penning down my thoughts. Basically I understand that the internet is full of African scammers trying to make a quick buck from naive unsuspecting guys who are dreaming for a genuine hookup & in their excitement never really take the trouble to verify the credentials of the site or its members. What I understood after scanning through many profile pages across dating sites is that some fake profiles could look incredibly genuine & the person on the other side has no chance in hell to really authenticate the person's identity. So the best way according to me is to request all potential hookups to interact live through skype wherein the chances of cheating or impersonation is considerably lowered since it's a live video conversation so if the person turns up he/she is most probably genuine, if not we all know the truth. U ask for people in ur area. And u get messages from other states with phony numbers. And then there not even other states all of a sudden u gets call from Ghana. Or some African country. They ask for pics. U ask to call them to verify there real. They never answer. Or they are text messaging services. I mean I thought there b at least 10 % of real women seeking. Men. Like men speaking women. But no. This is the worse one ever. I left other ones before. N had same experience. For our of it. So I see on Facebook out of all places. So say ok. Let's give it one more try. This mate 1 has 100% fake people. They use other people's. Pictures. N when they ask for ur pic. They save n use to scam someone else. Pant advertise on there sites. But of cours. It's all about the money. Mark zuckerburg. There is absolutely no more honesty in business. If ur reading this. Don't do it. It's a waste of time n money. This company executives should b put in jail
