I like the quality, and overall experience. But taking my own measurements was a bit difficult. Maybe some things could be explained better? Maybe a video tutorial?
Absolutely zero customer service. My jeans arrived and don't fit and there "guarantee" is worthless, all you will get is the run around. One of the worst online experiences i have ever had.
Before you make your purchase consider some facts below about this company. I have made 3 purchases in the past year and half:
#1. On their website you can find a statement saying if the piece of clothing shipped to you did not fit, they can offer to make a new one. This is a lie. Their Customer Service is nonexistent and will reject your claim 100% of the time. They will tell you that based on their measurement "report", they are 100% correct and you are 100% wrong and therefore go #@($* yourself. Even if you submit to them photos of wrong size, they will still refuse to agree with you. Basically a bunch of people paid to say "no" to you.
#2 If your order came with perfect fit, lucky you, you had a good tailor, but don't expect it to be consistent if you plan to continue buying from them.
#3 The size of my last pair of jeans ordered a month ago came totally off with the fact that I gave them FIX measurements (FIX=exact measurement of the cloth without including stretch). On Average the rise, waist, thigh measurement were all off by more than 1 inch, the back rise was off by 2 inches.
#4 There will be no refund or exchange.
#5 Also good luck if you dispute the purchase through Paypal because more than likely Paypal will rule in their favor because this company has put in some kind of statement saying by purchasing from website, the customers have agreed to no refund and no exchange. This was my real experience through an actual dispute with them
I was skeptical that this experience would turn out well for me. I
Decided to take a risk and order two pairs of jeans. I wanted a very
Specific fit. I wanted it to be tapered and skinny, but not skin tight.
I have just received the jeans and I am very impressed with their fit
And quality. The clothing speaks for itself, fantastic and fits perfectly.
I ordered some very heavy black jeans and some dark blue
Japanese denim jeans. The material quality is quite good - soft but
Very heavy, draping well.
The japanese denim has a very attractive pattern from the weave,
Resembling heavy linen.
They made them exactly to the measurements I provided and the
Workmanship is exceptionally good. I got another pair from one of
Their competitors and they were awful and expensive. I'll never go
Back to them.
For around fifty USD a pair, you really can't go wrong. The fit is far
Better than anything I would be likely to find in a store, and the ability to customize is wonderful as well.
I always had trouble with off the shelf jeans in terms of fit from the
Waist to the knees as I love a tight body hugging fit. Only
Makeyourownjeans can achieve that degree of satisfaction.
I am trying out a new pair of wide leg jeans. Looking forward it.
I like the ability to customize my jeans and love the fit.
The website was easy to navigate and to detail my order. From previous orders, I was confident the product would be just right when delivered and I was not disappointed..
Wide choice of garments, easy to select and order - to MY measurements!
Prices reasonable for custom made and always delivered in good condition and in good time.
I will continue to buy from MakeYourOwnJeans.
Used to love this company and bought over 20 pair of jeans between 2014 and 2019. Then next pair I ordered were sent completely off my measurements. No phone number so e-mailed them pictures showing how far the measurements were off with a tape measurer.
They played a game with me turning down my requests for a replacement pair over and over, but I did not give up. Finally I wrote them that I had disputed the charge on my Visa and now needed a refund instead of a return because it was SIX months after my original order and I needed them and finally had to buy them from another source. When Visa contacted them, they tried offering the replacement jeans finally, but I provided my bank with copies of over 30 emails evidence of their games - including the one at the end explaining why I now needed a replacement. Needless to say, my bank was taken back with all the evidence and I won and got my money back.
The saddest thing is not all the stress, time, energy and frustration from this, but the fact that I lost my wonderful jean source. I can no longer trust them. The only similar company advertising on the web is also in China and there is reason to believe from their website that it may be the same company using a different name.
I will wait for a custom jean company to open in the US with a published phone number. Then I will be delighted to custom order my jeans again. If you order jeans and they make them to your measurements, consider yourself lucky. But know that, should they mess them up, they will play games with you rather than replace the jeans.
Results are completely random from this company. Some things come out pretty well, many things have a gross error. They dismiss all complaints and refuse to respond saying that you're incapable of measuring accurately and that it's the designer's discretion. They may do the opposite of what you specifically ask for, eg I asked on a reorder to change 13.5" rise to 14"--they gave me 12". Even in a single order, chinos, eg, with the same measurements can vary by several inches (see pic). And, finally, they cut with no allowance on the seams for alterations to let anything out. Expect to throw away half of what they send you never worn.
The terrible thing is it would be so easy for them to be a great business. Work on consistency. Leave room for alterations. And, most importantly, ASK before departing radically from customer instructions.
I've thrown away so much from MYOJ unworn. The prices are low, so it's still less than most tailors. But still a shame. And they are a real company with real products as advertised.
HORRIBLE! I can't believe that people are actually happy with their jeans. My jeans were not even close to the right size. The measurements that I sent were for a size 14-16. I received a size 8-10. Also, keep in mind that this company is from India, and IMPOSSIBLE to get any type of resolution. There are no refunds, and this is a total SCAM. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THEM!
This was the third pair I've bought from this company. The first pair fit really well after a few washes. The second pair was a different denim. They didn't shrink much at all and were a little long and loose in the seat. Thinking I had the measurements figured out, I tweaked my profile and ordered a third pair. They actually came in baggier in the seat (plenty of room for an adult diaper if needed) and two full inches too long. I sent a photo with a measuring tape showing that the length was a full 2 inches longer than I had ordered. They won't take the jeans back and give me a refund. They want me to take a complete photo array showing every measurement and then they will make me a new pair for half price. They sent me a defective product and want me to pay an additional 50% for a replacement. What if the replacement is bad? Another 50%? 25%? I tried this company because I'm hard to fit. I'm 5'3" tall and 115 pounds. Two inches in length is a lot on my frame. I'm sure they can make a great pair of jeans. Just be forewarned. If they screw up, the customer pays the price.
I had bought jeans from them before that were excellent fitting but my third purchase were too tight. I knew I had put on weight and blamed myself.
I then ordered a Dean Winchester leather jacket in XL size (one size larger than my normal fit as they recommend when you are buying). The size that arrived was a small M (see the photo).
But worse than that, the jacket was approximately four inches shorter than the photo they sell it with, really more of a bomber jacket than a coat (see the second coat photo from their website).
I wrote to them with detailed measurements (including measurements of store bought coats) and they asked me to send photos. I did.
Their response was that the coat was perfectly cut and they could not be expected to conform to international sizes and I should have checked the size before ordering. Their website does not include any measurements for what they call "ready size" and so that was not possible.
Despite several attempts by me to get them to accept responsibility, they claimed that it was all my fault and that if I wanted a better fit I could order a new coat at my cost. They did not offer any compromise.
They steadfastly refused to respond to my questions on the difference between the design photo and what they sent me.
My advice? Don't bother with Make Your Own Jeans. They don't care about customers, they do not accept responsibility for their mistakes and they do not accept returns.
A+ end product & very good communication - first pair of jeans that has really fit me in 10 years.
Extremely glad you're offering 7oz, 8oz, 10oz lightweight 100% cotton denim! Great jeans for a warm textured denim. I got the lightest offering, the 7oz. It's comfortable in cold weather, such as below 60F, or actually maybe below 55F, without any sun. And, with sun exposure while wearing, below 45F,… otherwise the fabric texture feels too warm. Below freezing temperature, it's good, it's adequate, it's comfortable.
I'd like for the denim fabrics to also be in smoother-cooler denim texture (a finer texture which is made by some clothiers) which feels cooler in temperature not so warming, - a matter of the fabric structure/texture.
Extremely glad you're offering 7oz, 8oz, 10oz lightweight 100% cotton denim!
My order was delivered a bit late but I received the best quality product which I was wishing for. The fitting size of the jeans was perfect and would love to purchase them again from here.
Excellent product! They are a PERFECT FIT and of the HIGHEST QUALITY! They are just what I ordered, what I wanted and expected! I would highly recommend these jeans. Excellent quality and lots of ways to personalize them. Best jeans ever period ordering more this weekend.
Well I ordered my Leather jacket, thought it was American but eventually found out they were Indian. The Jacket came quality was OK (just) but it was only $150. Ordered a Large got a large and it was at least 3 sizes too small. I spent 2 -3 weeks getting increasingly ridiculous emails from them saying that it was all my fault, all signed by Pearl. The fact is the jacket is far too small, was made incorrectly and I am stuck with it, I will attempt to get my money back through my Visa card. I CAN NOT STRESS STONGLY ENOUGH DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Make Your Own Jeans is how we should ALL be buying our jeans! I'm short and fat, and it's actually impossible to find jeans that fit me everywhere. Usually if it's the right length, the leg width is wrong, or if the waist is right, the inseam is way too long. This is better than going to a tailor--you can get the right pants, the FIRST time, and they look better than anything you can get off the rack. And the price is INSANELY good for the service they provide!
I have bought a suit, shirt and two pairs of jeans so far. I have found the quality and workmanship to be very good. However when you go to your local tailor, they are experts they know how to measure you, when you measure yourself its easy to get it wrong----the website even says don't buy the most expensive suit first time out, buy a cheap one to check measurements.
The first pair of jeans I was really happy with the 6oz denim(which brand jeans don't seem to offer), the length was perfect, but too tight around the seat, though wearable. For the second pair I just added an inch on the seat knees and thigh, now I have my perfect jeans measurement sorted.
When I got the suit the pants were perfect, but the jacket sleeves were too short --- but it was completely my fault. When I was putting in my measurements they suggested a sleeve length, but I measured it myself and got it wrong----they were right.
I notice one reviewer said the colour of fabric did not match the colour on the website. That will happen sometimes, I don't think anything can be done about it, but you can buy fabric swatches for the suits and leathers.
The shirt I bought was good size wise and quality, but it did not quite match the picture, but its fine, I wear it---sometimes that's just the way it is with photos.
Overall I thoroughly recommend these guys, but only buy one of each thing first time round-----two people can measure the same thing and get different measurements. Also the measurements you use for brand jeans, or even on another website may be different to this website.
Each time I have ordered from these people they don't deliver. This time, the waist was 2" less than the measurements I sent.
All of a sudden this becomes MY problem!?
TERRIBLE! THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY! I was excited to try this and took extra time to measure my favorite pair of jeans to make sure they would fit good. I paid $70 for jeans with a thigh meaasurement of 27 inches and got ones with a 20 inch measurement. I could not even pull them up my leg! When I emailed customer service asking for a refund they told me that the measurement was 20 inches and basically called me a liar. After several back and forth emails they then told me to adjust MY measurements and told me to order MORE! Check ther website, there is a reason why there is no refund policy... O AND THE REVIEWS ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE DO NOT INCLUDE ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS! THEY SCREEN ALL THEIR OWN CUSTOMERS REVIEWS AND ONLY POST 5 STAR REVIEWS! WHAT A SCAM!
Answer: They do not take returns. Even if they mess up you have to pay return shipping, and upon approval, they will fix the issue. They have certain fabrics that are fit guarantee, but it seems like you're out of luck if they are hideous or don't fit right. I just emailed pictures of the 2 inch error in the waist of a pair of jeans I ordered I don't have high hopes for any resolution, I think I am out the money. I will stick with store bought jeans from reputable stores with good return policies, Or thrift store jeans.
Answer: They don't. They state that they allow a 2% margin. What happens when its outside that? They ignore you and 'hope that you understand that'. Bad customer service, but you only find out once they get the product wrong. Use at your own peril.
