Main Street Renewal has been a nightmare. For ~3 weeks our refrigerator never cooled; we threw out all food twice after a tech's useless "vent blocked" excuse. A running toilet "fix" created a new, deafening squeal every flush. After each visit, techs pressured us for instant 5-star reviews—QR code in our faces—while nothing was actually fixed. No loaner fridge, no real diagnosis, no timelines, no accountability. This screams KPI-chasing and incompetent QA. We have receipts, photos, and logs. As of Sept 18,2025: unresolved. Renters, protect yourselves and avoid this company.

BEWARE. PREDATORY

I submitted a detailed move-in report on April 7,2025, documenting multiple unresolved issues including continuous A/C failure—causing daytime temps to reach 75–78°F despite the system running nonstop—resulting in sky-high electric bills. Recent repairs haven't fixed it and their technician dismissed my concerns as "normal." Mold remains in the attic insulation, window screens are still tossed in the backyard, walls are dotted with unpatched nails and screw holes, broken blinds are still broken, there's no garbage disposal despite housing provisions for one, and the third bedroom still lacks a functioning fan or light. Despite documenting these defects as health and safety issues, the company continues to act like I'm trapped by the lease—this feels predatory. Tenant rights should mean more than empty promises.

Water issue
August 29, 2025

I have not had water for over 24 hours and they have not yet gotten anyone here to get the water back and running and i asked to pay for the services and have them reimburse me and they stated they would not do that. I am still on the phone with them since yesterday calling and speaking with supervisors (Kyle) and hearing they could do nothing and could not pay for my hotel stay from the prior night because they need 72 hours to complete the work order. Mind you it is no running water in the home. The worse home experience and I will not be renewing this lease.

Absolute slumlord! Do not rent from them. Multiple damages and necessary repairs upon move in that were 9/10 never repaired. Towards the end of my lease, their illegal plumbing bust a pipe in the attic above the laundry room and I was left with a huge leak for days as they were not taking it urgently. I had someone personally come repair it out of my pocket. The ceiling was wide open to the attic and for my entire last month of living there it was NEVER repaired causing my power bill to be sky high! Now they want to withhold my security deposit? I could write a novel about the terrible year in this house that was falling apart. Absolutely disgusting company. I would not recommend renting from this company to my worst enemies. Aside from them not doing repairs, they never sent a representative for the move in or move out to document any damages! Where is the proof? This company needs to be shut down.

I will NEVER rent from these money hungry people again. I'm literally in the process of trying to get my deposit back after they lied like the property I moved out of was damaged beyond normal wear and tear! I took pictures from corner to corner in the home showing that it was NOT damaged how they claimed! Like not even CLOSE! Even after that they still wouldn't give my money back! First 2 days of moving in me and my kids had to stay with a relative because of a gas leak and they didn't come to fix it until 2 days later they just shut the gas off and I had to crack windows to keep the smell from entering the rooms and I still had to a pay full months rent! Oh yeah and I was charged for 3 days after I moved in for the time I waited for the utilities to be switched over in my name. The House had been vacant for awhile according to a maintenance worker... There were so many spiders throughout the home and I had to pay someone to spray! I hate they have the automated system that is not helpful at all! I don't like they charge a 100 dollars "no show" fee like seriously? That's ridiculous. They pretty much harassed me into renewing my lease even tried to send a 750 dollar incentive if I did renew and to me that says that I was a good tenant! Unfortunately the area I lived in was considered a rural area and the signal was HORRIBLE on top of the drive from work and my kids school. So me moving out was nothing personal against them yet they still did me the way they did. These are the pics they took 2 weeks after I moved NO HOLES NOT DAMAGED AS THEY CLAIMED! My Pictures are to big to send so I had to show the ones they sent me claiming the damaged so can Someone show me BEYOND normal wear and tear?

Do not rent with these pple! I received a letter today stating that they will not be renewing my lease because the property is now up for sell. I just moved here less than 10 months ago from Vegas. Today I get a letter stating that we need to be gone in the next 3 months. This is stressful. This is sad. I have kids and we just moved here & now we must pack up & move within 3 months.

I have rented with Mainstreet Renewals for 2 1/2 years. It started as a problem when they overcharged me pro-rata rent. I was living with relatives and just ready to move. Then came the issues with the rental insurance. I carry my own and uploaded the declaration page but they still tried to charge me for their insurance. They finally conceded for a time. I stayed after my year was up because they offered the same rent for an additional 18 months. That's the trap. There has been one issue after another since then. Again, with the renter's insurance, which I refused to pay. They left this on my ledger. I did attempt to renew because the rents are so high here in Kansas City. The lease could only be uploaded and they kept stating I did not sign all the pages. Even after calling one of their agents and going over the entire lease, missing signatures. I gave up. We went through a cold spell, temperatures below 0. Pipe busted and kitchen floor leaked water when walked on. This went clear through the dining area, ruin my area rug. After a month of waiting on them to fix the water issue, they are finally sending someone over to start the process. I'm moving out and will not look back. This is the first time I have ever rented from a faceless landlord. I do not recommend it. They know you can't get to them and that's an advantage for them.

You do not want to rent or let anyone you know rent through Main Street Renewal!

They are practically slum lords hidden behind an AI wall aka 'resident portal'. I've never been able to meet even one of their agents. The houses are over priced and often falling apart behind some deceiving fresh painting.

Properties are usually dishonestly advertised, for instance via inflated square footage numbers, maintenance is almost non-existent, and there is no way to contact management. They do not have a physical office (everyone works from home) so you can't show up anywhere, and they outsource their customer service department (usually in India) so that you'll never be able to get ahold of anyone who can actually help (people from the other side of the planet will tell you they're 'escalating the issue' means 'bury it').

They also extort tenants of hundreds of dollars by using a part of their deposit to cover maintenance costs between each lease agreements.

My husband and I moved in with our 4-year-old to find out there is a leak, and the water can't be turned on. Their response was "these things take time". We are so disappointed and upset. Run, don't walk, away from this company.

Do not rent from the company! They are terrible on so many levels. Currently, they are charging me for my pet that has been deceased for months. I can't just contact someone because they said they have to contact another department. But won't five me the contact info. There have been many issues with this company.

Please take my advice and find a different company to rent from. We have had nothing but negative experiences continually with Main Street Renewal, from a broken AC on Labor Day weekend which went on without being fixed for SIX days total in 115+ degree temps here in Phoenix (never have been reimbursed for the emergency AC company we had to contact ourselves and pay for to survive the heat), to constant other more minor, but still frustrating issues since signing a lease with this company. Currently we have a major leak in the pool at the property we are renting and we submitted a maintenance request regarding this issue back in November of last year! After weeks of being in limbo, a "vendor" was sent out to the property to try and find the leak. We were forced to drain the pool for this guy to locate the leak, then refill it again and pay the water bill for that. Fast forward a month and we are still left with a FILTHY pool that has a leak, the water level is so low we cannot run our pool pump. The pool is disgusting and we are being forced to pay $150 pool cleaning and maintenance fee each month for a lease agreement that is not upheld by the property management company. I am calling repeatedly trying to get help and an update on when we can expect a fix for this issue but as usual, MSR does not help at all and claims someone will reach out to me to give me an update on the situation. Nearly 4 months later we are dealing with an unusable, filthy pool, and no answers from MSR. Do not give your money to this company unless you are willing and able to shell out lots of cash for endless repairs that are sure to arise when you sign a lease with this company. I am attaching photos of the current state of the pool that MSR charges me $150 a month for to "maintain". Beware!

They lie!

I moved into a home that was a nice home but had old carpet, water leaks, running toilets and filthy walls. I viewed the property thinking that they were not yet done but to my surprise nothing had been repaired or cleaned when I showed up on move in day. They never came to clean, repair or paint anything even after submitting tickets! Boogers on the bathroom wall and all! You submit a ticket, and the maintenance team would come out unannounced and leave if you were not there or would rig or halfway look at the problem. On month two, our whole ceiling was leaking because of a leak coming from the upstairs bathroom. They came and repaired the ceiling but never fixed where the water in the ceiling was coming from. I also had huge water bills from the running toilets that they came three times about but just jiggled the handle and left. After several months I was given a late fee from accidentally submitting my rent twice and one payment did not process due to me stopping payment after I realizing I had submitted two payments. They filed eviction and I contacted them to clear up the reason, they claimed that they were stopping the process as this was an automatic process once a balance was left on the account for any reason. I believed what they told me because the call center being in the Philippines and the lack of ability to speak to anyone in the actual office lets you know there is little to no humans at the helm on this company but a bunch software and off shore call centers. I still believed that once I brought attention to the issue it would be resolved. I was told once they look into things they would turn my rental payment account back on (they had turned if off upon filing) and I could resume paying my rent. This NEVER happened! I called and called and got the run around from department to department in a full circle until I came home to my belongings in the street! I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH AN ISSUE IN MY LIFE! Good luck to whomever does business with this company.

Before Main Street Renewal, my boyfriend and I had spent the last 8 months struggling to find a house that checked all the boxes for us. As soon as I reached out to Main Street Renewal, Amanda P. Got us approved in no time and we were able to get our lease within just a few days! Of all my years of renting pre and post college, I have never had such a seamless process. We were really in a time crunch, so we are beyond grateful for Amanda for working so hard to ensure a quick move in for us. Not only are we in love with the house and the area as our parents grew up there, but we are now able to enjoy the holiday season with peace of mind because we have our dream home secured! Excellent customer service can be hard to come by nowadays and it goes a LONG way so had to give a shoutout :) P.S. The self guided tour was a new experience for me and I was so impressed! Can't wait to move in.
