Items purchased from this site seem like a good deal. Until you actually have them in hand.
Open box=returned or might be broken, missing parts, dirty, used, non working, broken in a million pieces, etc.
Buyer beware! These Amazon returns are there as disposed of merchandise. Amazon vendors must do something with returns, so they pay to shred them.or send them here.
The buyers premium and lot fee is just added fodder to increase the company's bottom line.
After purchasing about 10 items here as open box... it's hohum. Now I have to store or throw this stuff away.
If it's too good to be true, it most likely is!

Worst experience ever. Would not buy another thing from them. It's trash it's been reviewed and picked apart by a number of people so to say you could review it or check it out. It's ridiculous. What I found is after eight purchases of coffee makers none of them had the complete components.
So my account was suspended, because I won a bid on a treadmill, the week I won it I was on mandatory overtime, I couldn't get an hour away to be there by 6 p.m., so I bought a 3 day extension, once again I got stuck at work. They wouldn't work with me at all. I lost 150 dollars, and they sold the treadmill again. I complained and they suspended my account for disparaging comments! This place is a joke!
Never buy from these people unless you examine the product prior to bid. Bought from them three times and each time it was either broken or totally unusable. And there are always hidden charges like premium bid charge (what ever that is), warehouse fee and of course taxes. What a scam.
I will share honestly what I experienced as a first time buyer. I read some comments on REDDIT website before buying and then I saw mix of ideas mostly tipping in favor of negatives. But I decided to buy and take the risk. I bought several items. It turned out that some items were unfunctional, had broken parts had missing part and impossible to function without that part, therefore, waste. And if you paid to transfer them from other sites, then an extra charge of $5. Therefore act very cautiously, especially on electric, electronics.
There are three levels of buying, one is damaged items, next is open box and third is like new. I did complain to them adout items labeled open box and then find out it is broken and damaged beyond repair and is not useable. I complained and they pretty much said if I didn't like it I could always inspect the items before bidding. Well as you know that's impossible due to the items being in different locations. If they would just be honest instead of being greedy it would work better. As soon as the items I bought come in I'm finished with them as it seems like everyone else is. Stay away from them and they will go away.
I've been using MacBids for the last couple years. Quality of merchandise has rapidly gone down hill. Items I've purchased in the last 3 months are missing parts, broken or damaged. Cancelled my subscription not worth the headache!
I liked the idea of this business but typically everything is either damaged or broken. Who opens a box without removing an item and changes their mind and returns it? It's possible but ANY Open Box should be completely inspected because there's either damage or some other problem otherwise the retailer would resell it. Buyer be very aware. If it looks looks too good to be true, it is.
At the beginning I loved this place, but the quality of the item inspection/detail is going down hill some at one location. I know it up to us to view the item before bidding, but since I'm driving a way it's impossible for me to do so everyday. Since they listed they look at items you would think they know what's in the box. It's just hard to want to bid when things are this wrong over and over when you buy too much to add insurance on everything.
The process to join and purchase items is very simple. It is easy to bid on items and the pickup process is seamless.
I won a bid for a black and decker 2 in 1 Edger and Trencher. My winning bid was $77.00. I picked it up in Monroeville and brought it home and assembled it and to my surprise it did not work. I call customer service and it took 3 days to return my call. Guess what? She told me I bought it "as is". Tuff luck you own a broken edger. I was so pissed I took it to the Monroeville store and approached the manager, " Mack", not a nice man. He didn't want to hear anything I was saying. He said if i bought a used cars as is tuff luck, you own it. All I wanted was a credit and I would of purchased something else. He also told me I should of tested it before I left the store. This was only my second purchased from them. Who carries tools and electric cords with them. They never mentioned to me at the store to test it. This will be my last purchase from Mac.Bid. Feel like I bought something from DJT
I bid on a Twinkly Christmas tree and won. The pictures and links showed a Twinkly box and the link was to a Twinkly website when I got there the Christmas tree was just a plain Christmas tree with white lights not Twinkly but they did return my money. I would think that is fraud.
I know many people out there, myself included, will bid on an item and when the auction finishes with you as the high bidder only to find later on or the next day you lost it by $1.00. When you call CS to ask WTF they just tell you "yeah that happens". There is supposed to be no sniping but there is for certain bidders. It is a corrupted enterprise that I would warn everyone to steer clear. It will only make you mad.
I have been shopping with M@C for a few years now since it opened in Cowpens SC. Overall, out of my many many purchases, I have only had an issue with one item! When this came about, I was able to take the item back due to purchasing the insurance and the large cost of the item and they were able to refund me and apologized that the contents within the box was not as it had stated due to parts missing. Mistakes do happen but I will continue to shop here as I love the deals!
Terribly bad photos of auction items. When visiting the warehouse I see the latest smartphones in hands of employees and Managers. Not sure why the auction itme pics are so awful! Don't they see the poor quality of the photos? It is SO obviously bad. They lack any interest or concern for us buyers.
My recent experience with Mac.bid has been nothing short of disappointing. After purchasing several items from their auction, I was shocked to find that the products were damaged and unusable upon receipt.
What's even more frustrating is the lack of accountability and customer service demonstrated by Mac.bid in response to my concerns. Their "Open Box" policy, which supposedly allows for the sale of items with missing pieces or damage, is nothing but an excuse for selling substandard products.
Their suggestion that customers should inspect items prior to bidding is impractical and unrealistic, especially for those like myself who traveled a significant distance to collect their purchases.
Moreover, their Buyer's Assurance offer comes with a strict 5-business-day return policy, which fails to acknowledge the inconvenience and frustration caused to customers in such situations.
Overall, I am deeply dissatisfied with my experience with Mac.bid and strongly advise against engaging with their services. The risk of receiving damaged or unusable products far outweighs any potential savings.
Out of over a dozen purchases, I've only gotten one item that wasn't either missing a part of just plain didn't work at all. Even a box fan that only needed to be plugged in to verify its function, didn't work. The box was taped back up and put up for bidding. The only person that loses is the customer…paying a purchase price plus fees. And if you buy the insurance, you still have to pick the item up, wait in line, get it home all to be upset that it's junk, once again, and then go through the whole process of returning it.
I'm done with this. It's absolute absurdity to spend priceless time in my life for this garbage.
Be sure to read everything closely.
Buyer's Premium fees, lot fees…
This adds up to a substantial amount of money, making it more financially advantageous to just buy the damn thing new.
I've spent a lot of money winning things on mac bid and probably half if not more of the items were trash, missing important parts or a completely different item than what was supposed to be in box. For example, won a bid for two glass spray bottles, got a pair of women's dress pants instead. You can't return anything unless you pay a $7-10 fee which is ridiculous but clearly they do that because most of their items would be returned. I've noticed a bid would be at $1 until almost the exact same time close to the end of the bid where the price will increase drastically. Some items are bid over retail price then added fees make it much more than retail. There's no way people are stupid enough to do that when the retail price is marked on the item post. Probably computer generated bidding. This is especially true on large merchandise, such as vanities and appliances.
If you decide to try Mac bid just beware to not overbid for something that could very well be trash. Uploaded photo is an example of two items which would have been a good deal except the charger was missing parts that allow it to work and the phone holder was broken. Spent over $60 on trash and almost $20 more on ridiculous fees. They also claim to check everything before auctioning it, which is definitely a lie because I've bought items in boxes that were literally empty. They wouldn't do anything about it because I didn't open it until I went home.
Only discovered Mac.Bid less than a month ago and bought 6 items the first auction and been winning auctions since. We had no real clue about the pickup or inspection process, but would ask employees and they were quite helpful to the point of walking down with me with a flat-bed cart and loading it on. We got all "open box" items and everything was included, nothing missing or broken except for one item of about 15. The auction countdown is fun in anticipation of the "win"
I've notice that if you post a max bid, you'll never get it for any less. Right before the auction ends, the bid seems to miraculously go to just under what your max bid is. Seems like a scam that should be reported to the State Attorney General's office under Consumer complaints. The form is online at their site. Also, I expected a "Buyers premium", but did not expect a "Lot premium". The Buyer's premium + Lot Premium increased my final bill by 21%. Seems excessive and a backdoor method for MacBid to increase their take on each item. My fault for not investigating further before bidding on anything though. I have a couple of more items won in a subsequent auction. Based on other reviews here, I'll be surprised if either of them work. Definitely a lesson learned!
Items pictured are NOT correct. They take pics of only the good side. Lots of broken items, missing parts, used items. That still have dirt n pet hair in them. Air filters that are dirty and clearly used. Be very cautious when purchasing. Get the insurance on items. Especially furniture & Electronics. Sweepers, cleaners, tools etc. If you get a broken item MARK THE BOX on all sides. So others don't buy THEIR GARBAGE. We have bought from there several times. And have returned SEVERAL items. Who every does the inspection of items. Must be blind. Or doesn't care that they are lying about the item. Staff gets rude when asking for help.
Answer: No, there is one on the sure now. Beware of purchasing items you can't view ahead of time. Go see it before you bid on it.
Answer: They simply do not care how long you have to wait. Just hope the driver didn't find your item to be pretty cool or something his girlfriend would really like to have.
Answer: 15% + $3 + tax try bidding and being high bidder on an item for $1 and end up paying 3× that amount.
