Omg. Listen up people. Do not consider Lorex. I have purchased 3 camera controllers in 5 years and even with extended warranties this firm will not honor their commitments
Sad but true
Lorex has the worst customer service I have ever experienced which says a lot. They are not trained and just read manuals over the phone. They cant do anything beyond basic trouble shooting. They claim they will follow up with calls and never do.
They have a terrible software system and their customer support has absolutely is the dumbest set of losers!
You have to be an IT rockstar to be able to manage, install and maintain the system. They have tons of "false triggers" on the detection systems and their support is ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS
Absolutely horrible company to deal with. It is almost impossible to reach a person and was forced to send numerous emails which were not answered. Occasionally I received random calls from Bogota, which were not helpful.
Complete waste of money and time.
Absolutely do not buy Lorex products. They're faulty and couldn't even alert us that someone was breaking into our home! They also cannot even catch a cat that vomits in our lawn every night -- doesn't pick it up even right in front of the camera! Their tech and customer support is TERRIBLE. Unhelpful, uneducated on the products, and no deep desire to stand by the products either. Only buy these if you WANT TO GET ROBBED. They're HORRIFIC.
Alicia totally dissatisfied
Purchase lorex 4 cameras, 4 solar panels, 3 year warranty directly from sales department. Miss information was relayed. Solar panel battery operated cameras are not reliable. The cameras have not worked since installed. Been back and forth with company all they want too do is replace cameras until warranty runs out. Lorex doesn't want to replace with hard wired cameras nor return money. {RED LIGHT-RED LIGHT PHOTO} STAY AWAY, DON'T BUY. NOT A RELIABLE COMPANY
Terrible experience with Lorex and an even worse product. I purchased a $2000 package of 4K cameras and the N881 series NVR. Here I am 2 years later and fed up with the company. The first camera stop working 14 months in, I ended up buying another camera. The second camera stopping working 18 months in. Each time I had to pay to purchase a camera, and pay for someone to climb a ladder and install. And now I am writing this review, 24 months later, because the entire NVR is no longer functioning. The customer service team asked me to try things like different power cables and HDMIs even though the entire box is not functioning. LOREX = PURE GARBAGE. There is no quality assurance, no proper testing or integrations done on their product. They have a savvy website and a nice looking camera that tricks people like me to fall for their product and buy. But if you want to save yourself DO NOT PURCHASE FROM LOREX! I can offer up three companies that do a better job - Arlo, Swann, and Reolink.
I urge all who are shopping for security cameras to avoid LOREX. Service, quality, and customer assistance are lacking. Customer service speaks a form of English that is incomprehensible. Representatives are rude and uncaring. Lorex is generally more expensive than other systems. As such, all are advised to seek other security systems.
This is a company that touts technology for the homeowner. Not the case... I purchased their newest "noctornal 4k camera system, NVR, 12 cameras, etc. 2k. The site says you can access the video via the app... completely false. This system is not supported by their LOREXHOME app, only the cloud app. Their solution is that i run an HDMI cable to the TV I want to see the security camera's on. Well, i live in an 8000 square foot house... 10 tv's, pool house, etc. (I'm not bragging, its the reality). I spoke with one of their tech people who RECOMMENDED this system. After wiring all of it, some 800 feet of cable, I find out it doesnt function on their app... Bottom line, after taking 3 days to install it, I ripped it out in 3 hrs, boxed it up and sent it back. They seemed to NGAS. So be it, buy Amcrest... much better, more secure and more for the money.
I Purchased a 16 channel NVR and 5,4k cameras from the Nocturnal line Direct from Lorex via their website. These are supposed to be their higher end cameras and NVR. Daytime video quality is good, but night-vision is grainy with digital noise throughout. I've been dealing with this problem for close to 18 months and it was present right after install within the 30 day return window. When you call Lorex, the tech department you reach is not the Tech department that actually makes the decisions. They will have to escalate your case if they cannot resolve the problem. I was told by this department the graininess/digital noise was due to a bad camera or NVR and they would indeed need to escalate my case. The problem is, the higher department doesn't call you back 90% of the time and they don't have a direct line. Same goes for management. No contact info and noway to speak to any manager at all. Having had Lorex troubleshoot my system multiple times and having my case escalated multiple times with no call backs, my return window is long gone, close to 18 months in now, I'm told by the Higher up Tech Support Department the graininess/digital noise is normal and my cameras are operating properly! """Buyer Beware""". Lorex is Advertising clear images on their website of night-vision video being clear. It is not and what you actually get is grainy/digital noisy video. Spend your money elsewhere or be stuck with subpar night-vision. They will string you along until you cannot return you system while making you think there's a resolution for the problem. You can't fix what they claim is normal video quality. Had I known this I never would have bought their overpriced garbage..
I have bought close to 5 grand worth of Lorex surveillance gear since September both from amazon and from Lorex directly, My PTZ outdoor camera went out after 3 months in a snow shower. When i went to customer service to get a repair or replacement I am told it needed to be under a shelter and the warranty is void IP 66 is supposed to be proof against any blowing water or debris, The camera either doesn't meet these standards or Lorex is trying to con me out of my warranty claim
UPDATE;
After lodging a complaint with the BBB and posting this story on every Lorex related site i could find, a rep from another Lorex reseller agreed with my interpretation and coached me on who to write to next. I sent that email off and recieved a call within 24 hours offering me a one time exception along with prepaid postage. Im just getting ready to package it up and send it off
Got the 2 camera system and its a total desaster.it doesnt work half the time and technical support isnt any help either.
Save your money everyone and get a proper product instead
You are basically on your own after purchasing. No help installing, no help operating. The information is available but you must search for it (some at a cost).
Worst Company I have ever dealt with for warranty just installed a 16 camera system three cameras are bad they are making me jump threw hoops and still no satisfaction on getting replacements called my credit card company and they will now intervene on this case, Just Ridiculous!
The system broke in a minor thunderstorm and the technical support was the most challenging and horrible
I should not have even Rated 1 but it was a required field
As many other posters have noted, the cameras themselves are quite good. Resolution, clarity and reliability seem solid. No experience with durability though as they'e just been installed for a few weeks. Customer service is another thing entirely.
The original probably was simple enough.
I'd bought an 8 camera pack from Costco that included motion and door sensors. There was clearly a manufacturing defect with the molding as the hole that accesses the reset switch was not even opened and could not be pierced with the provided pin. [ I kind of suspect somebody screwed up a bunch of these worthless sensors and decided to throw them in a box and sell to the uber tech-savvy Costco customers.] Then, once the hole was opened in the plastic molding with a pin from my toolbox, the sensors would never pair. I spent at least 2 hours on the phone with a tech walking through various approaches, but they gave up and said that the part must be bad and should be replaced. That's when the real fun started. I was asked for every conceivable irrelevant detail: who was my ISP? What brand of router did I have? What were my DNS settings? Maybe they should have gotten my Zodiac sign and favorite ice cream flavor? I sent info repeatedly (proof of purchase, serial numbers, photos, etc) and was told that a replacement would be processed, only to get an email a couple of days later saying that my case would be closed since I they hadn't heard from me in 72 hours. I've sent pictures as requested and then was asked for a video instead. Was connected to the escalation team who also promised to send out replacements. Then the dreaded "your case is being closed" email. I am now up to phone call #8. It's like something out of Black Mirror at this point. All just to avoid replacing what's probably a couple of $5 sensors. I'll admit it's sad, but I've now taken it on as a pandemic hobby to see how long it will take to get it these parts replaced. Currently on call 3 for the day. First two were disconnected randomly and am on minute 35 of the current call. I'm taking the "pleasant customer" approach to see how long this takes.
Here's my suggestion, you don't need a pathetic hobby like me. Just buy another brand. Nest, Ring, Simplisafe. They actually don't hate people who buy their products.
Three cameras went bad in 6months. Took forever to get replacements. Had to threaten to call BBB before I could get replacements. The replacements were no better than the bad cameras. One would not work out of the box. One quit working after a month. One freezes up and now has quit working. DID NOT TRY TO GET REPLACEMENTS. NOT WORTH IT. WILL BUY ANOTHER BRAND.
I have a LHA4216-D you cant even find the product in their web or cameras for that product that I bought just a couple of years ago. The caneras go randomly weird or plain ofd and the system keeps reinitiating it self several times a day. One product I bought from their web page more than a year ago has never lift their warehouse I can still see the order on the port in my account, no explanation, no email, no body knows nothing, what a poor customer servuce. One port on my dvr just do not work anymore, my house is extremelly well protected by the power side with two top of the line kind I surge protector, kind iI and kind iII at the equipment port. It is just their bad quality, nothing else. I uses to like this brand back in the time when they proudly exhibit the "by flir" logo. I see what they do not anymore. Do yourself a favor an stay away.
The specs and the hardware seem to be pretty good, but the support is horrible. Lorex support consists of telling you to reset to default config and reconfig. That is the absolutely worst customer support I've ever heard of. Software is not very intuitive, and support is lazy. I'm a tech geek and have installed several systems, and I work in IT so a lot of the configuration is natural for me. I spent almost 2K for stuff that works but even getting the wireless doorbell to work with the NVR is spotty at best. If you never need support I might give Lorex 3 stars but the support experience is a nightmare. No responses to email for almost a week, and when you call in you get offshored to I have no idea where. I only called to get information because there are no help files, and the documentation is lacking.
Our equipment stopped working months after receiving because of an update. After multiple EXTENSIVE trouble shooting procedures with multiple people and always starting at square one) they finally decided to replace the unit. HAHA. It has been 2.5 months and nothing has arrived and no one is answering the question of where the unit is, NOR are they replying to any emails wondering where our replacement is.
Customer service personnel have always been nice but have no idea what they are doing, and the certificate number they give you means nothing… the next person has no idea what has already been done. NEVER would I get another Lorex and NEVER would I recommend getting a Lorex to anyone. Wasted our money on this garbage.
Answer: DO NOT call Lorex Customer Support. You will only be shocked by the absolutely horrible support that you get.
Answer: Typical Lorex Customer Support. Do NOT expect anything less than horrible support from them! Read the reviews! Read them.
Answer: Good Luck! Customer service at Lorex is off the charts HORRIBLE.
