Legacybox has now had my precious memories for 16 weeks. Before I mailed them in I was told the turn around time was supposed to be 6-8 weeks and then once they had them I was told it is really 8-12 weeks and then when that also passed I was told 16 weeks and now it has been 16 weeks and they still have not even started digitizing them. These memories are precious and irreplaceable to me. It took me a long time to get the nerve to send them anywhere out of fear that something would happen to them. I researched legacybox before choosing them and am so disappointed and scared that there is something wrong and they have destroyed the only video memories I and my children have of my late husband. The most frustrating part is in spite of them being so far behind they are still advertising and sending emails constantly trying to get more business. Please stay away from this company unless you want to have many months of waiting and worrying about your memories.
Customer service is great. They updated me often on what was happening with my items and where they were in the process. It did take a long time, so if this is something you need for a special occasion you should plan way in advance. My items were returned safely and boxed very securely against damage. I would be completely satisfied except that I took the time to put my photos in chronological order and they are mixed up on the discs. I have a college graduation picture of my oldest daughter and then a picture of me when I was young and then my youngest daughter as a baby, etc. I am disappointed in that aspect but otherwise satisfied.
Legacybox is a great business to deal with. Any old photos, vhs, recorded memories they put on disc or flash drive for you. My father recently passed away and we sent in a box. Got the results back and the memories are priceless. Thank you Legacybox.
I am thrilled to have my parents' wedding reel-to-reel along with many videos of our family and my own musical experiences over the years transferred to a zip drive that is playable instead of deteriorating away on unplayable tape. One of them did not transfer correctly, and the folks at LegacyBox sent me a label to return it and have it processed at priority speed. It is now functioning just as well as the others.
I sent ten old VHS for digitization to Legacy. After more than three months they only did two of them and labeled the rest as having mold. I didn't see any visible mold on them. Did they run a wipe test? Even if that was the case they could have used precautions and digitize them.
After all isn't this part pf the business of digitizing old media!?
Thanks to Legacy Box, I've now been able to see & hear my digitized video tapes and audio cassettes. My children are now adults. Yet here's what I hear and see again:
" I am 3 years old!"; and " I know the words on my 1st grade list!'; And dance recitals from quite a while ago~ Those are a small fraction of what I've seen so far. All of this addresses the goal of re-capturing precious memories,of course. But I want to say a few words about the process that made it possible in the first place:
Every step of the way, this company made it easy. From sending me the protective box for my items, through the link that gave me immediate access to those memories!, they were there for all my questions. I had a lot of those. Always helpful,expert about the process and very sweet besides. They made the whole experience easy. They sent the original items back too.

The reproductions were just okay (nothing fancy) but good luck cancelling the subscription. I notified LB that I was purchasing one year of subscription, then low and behold, another charge appeared on my bank card. I then had to go thru a string of emails to get it cancelled.
I purchased the box when this service started then moved and forgot about it. During quarantine and cleaning up I found it and was a bit skeptical to send all these memories but figured I don't even own a VHS machine so why not take a gamble. Well it was so worth it! Legacybox is truly an amazing service! The customer service alone convinced me to do it because they are impeccable. Thank you!
I sent in over 30 reels of film, checked each one before sending. About 2 weeks later I received a notice "wanted to let you know that one or more of your items arrived blank, and therefore we are unable to digitize it". When I called in for more information, they said the film was blank on one of the reels. But, when all of my film was returned, eight of the reels were missing the actual film... there was no film in any of the 8 canisters! After 2 weeks of working with customer service to "find" the lost film, I was informed that the reels arrived without film... a total change of what I had been told previously. Another week later they offered a refund of half the cost... but these films are irreplaceable. So much time has passed while I waited patiently for them to "find" the film... that now their mistake is long gone. It has been a horrible experience. I would NEVER recommend LegacyBox.

I know you have already been working with our team regarding your order but I just wanted to confirm all steps that have been taken. When you first reached out to us, our customer service agent gathered all information in order to look into this further for you. I wholeheartedly apologize for any confusion in regards to how your canisters were flagged as being blank, indicating that the film in those canisters were blank, instead of using the term empty. I do understand how this can be unclear and we have passed this feedback over to our team for review as well. When items arrive either blank, or containers are empty, there is only a limited number of options for the production team to notate this. It has been confirmed with our production specialist that these canisters arrived to us empty. Again, we wholeheartedly apologize for the confusion in verbiage and that this was not immediately relayed to you, as the customer service team only has so much information available to them and this did take some time to fully investigate for you. The chances of sending back a canister without its film reel are so extremely rare and it is not possible that you would be sent back 8 empty canisters had there been film inside. Even if the film itself was blank, damaged or for any other reason unable to be transferred, any items sent in to us would be returned to you. I do want to ensure you that our team is following every possible avenue and leaving no stone unturned and if there is ever any update or change, we will reach out to you immediately.
The whole experience with Legacybox was 1st class from the 1st box I received to send my tapes to when I received them back. I had some questions before ordering which were answered quickly. I had old personally made music cassettes converted to CD's. The clarity is great! The only thing I was surprised about was the fact that, even though there were spaces between the songs on the tapes, the whole CD has just 1 track so I can't search for songs. Maybe that's not technologically possible at this point. I would use them again & definitely recommend them to anyone.

I had 25 films from 1970's and 1980's and labeled the 1st several by subject (year in Morocco, Europe trip, and home to US) then rubber banded the as so. The rest were labeled by following years. Legacy copied what they could but mingled at random the years and subjects. My dvd was a mess! No apology, no refund, no remake!
I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed when I received my digital download within a week of it arriving. Then my original slides wer returned just a few days later. The whole shipping process is well thought out and very streamlined. I have family members who were very grateful for the photos

I signed up for promotional emails thinking they'd let me know when they had a sale going on. I'm a past customer with more old films to convert someday. Whoa! Bad idea. Beware! Every day I get several promotional emails flooding my inbox. And Unsubscribe doesn't work. Good grief! How many sales do they have going on that they have to email me every single day? Give me a break already. I'm about to block them if they don't respond to my latest request to Unsubscribe.
I sent 25 loose photos, several mini-cam videos and disposable cameras. I did receive email advising that some of the things I sent could not be used, without explaining which ones. The quality of the media that I got back was not great. The thumb drive works, but is poorly organized and difficult to navigate. For the cost, I expected a much better product. I would not use this service again.

You touched on an important point concerning the organization of the files on your thumb drive. Each file will correspond to the barcode attached to each tape. It will also correspond to the barcode attached to each grouping of 25 photos as they were packaged upon arrival.

After 8 weeks we finally received two dvds and no instructions on how to save or retrieve any movies on line! I've called many times, and no one answers! They finally just hang up. You may want to research other services.
I have used Legacy for years ans wow were they Alon their game. A few months ago, I purchased a package, it did not realize it was a digital package as I was so used to the regular fee a box, mail back a box. Simple.
I have written customer services trying to figure out what I can do and talking to a wall would give me better answers.
No clue what happened to Legacy, it someone took their eye off the ball. Though the order coat me quote a bit; I guess they need the money. So, keep the money as you have given us so many years of joy. My donation to you.

There are so many options for digitizing old family photos and videos. My mother passed away when I was 10, so the VHS tapes with her are very important and it took me a long time to let them go to a place to be digitized. Their website says it takes about 8 weeks - they had my stuff for 5 months. I only sent in 4 tapes with about 30 minutes on each of them and 40 photos, so it wasn't a massive order. DVDs won't allow for fast forwarding, rewinding or skipping on my DVD player, so I have no idea how this is helpful. They get a star for returning everything in proper condition, but there was NOTHING special about their product. Don't waste your time. Go to Costco instead.

I sent them a bunch of dvds to convert. Turns out they received my box empty and rather than advise me of this they sent me an email saying my memories had been received safe and sound! Ten hours of my kids videos gone forever. And it's impossible it arrived empty. It was sealed properly and I'm 100 percent certain of this.
I purchased this for my mom for Christmas. She loved it. I'm so happy that we have access to our family videos in a digital format now. We can actually watch, edit, re-live, and enjoy them now! I highly recommend this service and will be using it again.

Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back!
