After waiting more than 8 weeks and continuing monitoring legacybox webpage for updates on my orders without any decent progress, I decided to contact them, and all I was given were excuses and apologies. After talking to them for more than 20 minutes, they finally decided to give me some priority on my order. Which I was good with. 3 days later their webpage posted my order was completed and shipped out. Great I said, but what a nice surprise, all I received back were the same 2 VHS, s and one 8 mm cassette. Immediately I call them, and they initially said my order was completed and was on m way. When I told them I already received the box with no digitalized item, they gave me the excuse my cassettes have some mold or were with some kind of damage. I asked them why their webpage said the order was completed, they had no answer. They promised to send me a full refund,, and again, they did no sent a full refund, giving the excuse they need to cover the shipping charges, "for a service not completed". I wasted 3 months waiting for them and nothing, and at the end they kept some money from me. LEGACYBOX IS A FRAUD!
I was very satisfied with the work that Legacy box did in transferring my old VCR tapes to DVD's. I have recommended Legacy box to my family and friends! I will contact Legacy box in the future.
They will transfer your tapes but their customer service is horrible they don't respond to emails at all
I am very pleased with their service and the resulting Download, DVDs and Thumb Drives. I know that I would never have taken the time necessary to attempt to preserve all of our pictures and movies.
Hello Matthew! Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are so happy that you decided on us to take on the task of preserving all of your memories!
I found Legacy Box through a Facebook ad after I quit trying to digitize the videos myself. I submitted 29 tapes, arriving to their warehouse on December 29th. I know the website says 8-10 weeks for busy season - AKA when I sent them in after Christmas - but I could've climbed Mt. Everest and back before the tapes would arrive. Here is the timeline of updates I got:
12/29 - We've received your order
1/25 - Order has been barcoded (what?)
2/1 - Order has been reviewed/inspected (again - what?)
2/8 - Order in line to be processed
2/15 - Order close to being processed
2/22 - Order in line to be transferred
3/1 - About to enter digitizing process!
4/18 - Order has been shipped!
4/21 - Order has been delivered!
Throughout March, I contacted them every week for a real time update on my order. They would always respond in a timely manner which was helpful, but still didn't assure me that my tapes would arrive soon. When the tapes arrived, all the DVD's worked except the VHS tapes that were converted to DVD's appeared in that fuzzy black and white obnoxious noise with no film playing.
Overall, I'm super happy with almost all of my new DVD's! I gave 3 stars due to the time it took and the VHS tape errors. I'd assume they are short staffed which is understandable, but they should change their estimated time on the website.
Hi Jane. We do apologize for the delay in processing times. While our average is 6-8 weeks, unfortunately that average can fluctuate depending on the formats and number of orders received, as each order is processed in the order in which it is received. We truly appreciate how patient you were with us! Glad to hear you are enjoying your new DVDs.
Our customer service team is available 7 days a week if there is ever anything we can help you with at questions@legacybox.com or by phone at 800-797-8210.
I purchased a discounted e-deal, but it was not clear how to use the discount code. Email support helped with the details.
Legacybox did a wonderful job on our old family movies. The resolution was much better than I expected and a quick turnaround.
Hey Jim, Thank you for letting digitize your treasured memories!
It was a very smooth experience and love being able to watch home videos I've not seen in a long time.
All
My VCR's were completely transferred over with the best quality possible. I was happy my family videos could be preserved.
Hi Cindi, We absolutely love hearing about the impact that reliving family memories has on our customers. We are so happy to hear that you had a great experience working with us and that we could help bring a smile to your face! We thank you so very much for taking the time to share this with us.
It was very quick and easy. They even send you a postage paid box to send in your media. Loved that!
Some films were from 1929 and we were able to enjoy for the first time as several generations passed.
As well 50 year old movies of my young children
LB is great with updates regarding the status of your media transfer. They let you know how everything is going.
Hi Aurora! Thank you for leaving us such a nice review. We are glad we could keep you up to date throughout the process and that you are happy with our service.
Did great work in a timely manner. Customer service was great at answering all questions. Would definitely use them again.
Thank you, Catherine! We are so happy that you chose us to digitize your memories!
They don't let you unsubscribe which to me is always a red flag. I've tried everything I can think of and they won't stop sending texts and emails.

Warning regarding Legacy Box process: I read the instructions sent to me when I prepared my photos to be digitized. I spent hours getting the 25 bar code fotos in a specific sequence. I sent instructions along with my 25 foto packets indicating they were in a specific order. I packed the fotos in bar code order 1-25. However, when I received the digitized fotos back the bar code packets were not in numerical order on the disc. When I called customer service to complain I was told that the information about possibly being out of order was on their website but was not in the printed material sent with the Legacy Box. I then received a note from customer service explaining that they might need multiple scanners to achieve the quality desired and thus we cannot guarantee that our team will be able to keep your fotos in the order you sent them. If I had known this I would not have ordered and paid for a second disc nor would I not have ordered a thumb drive. My goal in digitizing the fotos was to have them in a sequential form that made sense to other viewers. To secure this goal, I then had to rearrange the fotos in the order I wished on Shutterfly. The quality of the digitizing of the fortos was fine.
Sent from my iPad
Here is my email to customer support, will be interested to see what (if anything) they have to respond with: "I think my expectations were maybe a little high, but I was surprised at the quality issues with the videos I received:
- My VHS VCR at home does a better job with tracking than the recorded digital result I received
- Much of the 8mm recording, while the sound seemed pretty good, I don't know why the screen was solid blue for A LOT of it, here again, my 8mm player at home would have done a much better job. Oddly enough, there was one segment of one tape that I was concerned about because the tape was wrinkled. But strangely, that came out reasonably well. So I don't know why so much of the rest of it had to be basically unwatchable.
I had a number of reasons for trying to digitize my tapes, but now I feel like I just wasted my money and will have to try other options, like do it myself, pay the brick and mortar shop up the street to do it, or finally get the batteries/power adapter replaced for my 8mm player.
Based on your reviews, I'm guessing there's not a lot your willing or able to do to rectify it, but I thought you should know anyway."
Hi Greg,
Our process is to provide a one-to-one transfer of each of your items as they play on our equipment. Since we do not offer any editing or enhancement services, any quality issues that exist on the original item will be present in the digital files. We’d like to make sure that we achieved a one-to-one transfer of your tapes, so we appreciate you reaching out to our team to further discuss your order and plan to address these issues with you.

Recently had Legacy Box make 80 DVDs from our old VHS tapes and a couple of reel-to-reels. The process was easy and fast. The quality of the DVDs is excellent.
Hello Julie! We are so happy that your experience with us was quick and efficient! We strive for that kind of service so thank you for the wonderful review!
If their digitizing quality is as bad as their customer service, beware! Hope not to die of old age before they finally deliver. Go somewhere else!
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. I am happy to help!
Answer: Legacybox sends everything back to you along with any thumb drives, CD's you ordered.
Answer: No. Just went through this with them. It's a "tough luck" and they keep your money.
Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back! Please reach out to our customer service team for the fastest responses at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with!
Answer: Hello, thank you for reaching out to us! Yes, the digital files you receive back are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit them as you see fit. Please reach out to our customer service team directly at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with for a more prompt response time!
Answer: Hello Lowell, We are a 1:1 transfer company meaning what is on your original will also be on your digital output. We do not offer any editing or enhancements. The digital files you receive back are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit them as you see fit. You can also request multiple copies when placing your order as well.
