Do not use this company! I spent hundreds of dollars for them to convert my home videos and there are missing time from almost EVERY ONE! I had tried to convert them myself on a crappy home set up and did a better job! They tried to tell me that there were quality issues with the tapes and it's not their fault. I can even send them proof of the missing time! AWFUL AWFUL COMPANY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I sent 26 tapes to them and I can confirm time is missing from 16! Out of the other 10 - I unfortunately don't have 7 of the videos to compare to!
The transfers they did were of high quality. It just took several months to get everything back. Unless you pay an extra fee to get at the front of the line, expect to wait a long time.
This whole process was so easy to do. Find your tapes, put numbered stickers on them. Put everything in the box. Send it off and in 3 weeks, all our tapes are on easy to watch DVDs!
We found these old tapes of my dad recording the history of his life and family. Legacy Box made it easy to preserve this precious event and our family history.

Earlier this year I sent 20 video files (VHS and cassette tapes) to digitize. It took 4 months to get results. After review, I found that they digitized 15 but they were absolutely terrible. They didn't even take the time to fix the 'horizontal tracking' on the VCR. This made the tapes unwatchable. There was no touch up and no care for what they did. They charged $257 for this mess. 25% was not even done although the video quality on those were just fine. When I tried to complain, they said they were going to give me $100 credit but then they didn't. They shut down all communication and refused to answer any emails, phone calls, etc, after 4 days. Since then, I have been fighting with my credit card company because now they are wanting the whole $257 even though the quality was less that minimally acceptable and they didn't even do 25% of the service. STAY AWAY! This is a scam. They don't do what they claim to. They take your money and don't provide the service. If I could rate them a 'ZERO' I would.

I sent about 25/30 vhs & vhs-c tapes that were from 1995 to 2006 (not old at all). Thanks to covid I had time to watch them all before I sent them to be sure they were in good working order & had content that was going to be worth the money I was spending to have them digitized. The ones I chose to send worked as good as the day we had recorded them, no sound or tracking issues. I got 3 thumb drives back with my tapes (many of the tapes were marked "tracking issues".), two of the thumb drives worked in the tv & one didn't, I contacted customer service & they gave me generic answers as if I wasn't tech savvy & disappeared. We watched some of the videos right away & were instantly disappointed with the quality... hardly any sound, many tracking issues, blue screens, dead space, hours of blank screens, some were out of order, started from the middle, parts missing, duplicates, 2003 somehow turned into 1999 in the middle like it had been recorded over, there were none of these issues with my tapes before I sent them, I know because I had watched them. Life happened & I put everything away until this week I wanted to watch them & organize them on the drives & once again more disappointment. I was so excited to get this done & now I'm sick that I spent that much money & received back what I did. Do not waste your time or money.

We advertise that we perform a one-to-one transfer of everything that we receive. If there is an issue with the original, those issues will translate over to the digital copies.
We cannot restore, edit or improve the quality of tapes. Due to the age and natural deterioration of tapes, sometimes quality issues may occur during the digitization process. If you are certain that your original items are in better condition than the digital version you received back, we would be happy to set up a return for those items to be reprocessed. Please note that again, we do not offer editing services, so if there are blank spaces on your tape they will show as blue screen on the digital format. The files are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit the footage you received back. I apologize that all of your thumb drives did not work on your TV. Our thumb drives, as advertised are designed for computer use. While they will sometimes work on TV's they are designed solely for the computer. I had 5 vhs tapes converted to dvds. Process said it take 4 to 6 weeks but it showed up in 3 weeks. Happy with the product and happy i got to preserve my memories.

Completely disappointed with the conversion of VHS to DVD. DVD can back with no sound and tracking was awful. I can get better results using my DVD/VHS combo player/recorder. I was expecting to get what is advertised as a professional digital conversion. I can't believe that they didn't even bother playing them back to see that all the audio was missing on the DVD's that I paid to get converted to from VHS. VERY, VERY, VERY DISAPOOINTED. Don't waste your time with this company, I give the a FAIL with Quality.

I recently decided to convert over 50 VHS-C tapes to digital and found Legacybox. Their prices were very reasonable. I was initially nervous about sending my family memories away so I decided to order two legacy boxes and break up my order. I paid to upgrade shipping and processing at a really reasonable price as I didn't want to wait too long to receive my tapes back.
The Legacybox website was very transparent regarding processing time for regular processing so the upcharge was well worth it, to me. I placed my order, and within a week, I received the packages. Included was everything I needed to pack up my tapes securely and label each one.
I dropped off my packages and within 7 days I had received receipt confirmations and also received secure emails to the digital files! That conversion was so fast! In another weeks' time I received both boxes back home with all of my tapes and digital CDs of the files for backups, all carefully repackaged and the CDs were bound and labeled to match each tape really nicely.
The conversion worked really well! All of the files play and look as good as a VHS tape, maybe a bit better.
We are so happy with the service that we are preparing to convert all of our photos and negatives to digital next. I highly recommend Legacybox. Don't be cheap, pay for the upgraded shipping and processing if you want faster service, it's well worth it. I'll be giving Legacybox more business soon!
I'm going to stick to facts. They say 10-12 weeks for delivery. They have NO customer service number anywhere on their site. I had to contact them on a form, and then they gave me their number. I am apparently beyond 10 weeks but less than 12 weeks according to their receipt of my package. But here's the kicker, they are running behind. They might be 14-16 weeks now, and if I'd like to pay a "rush" fee they can get it to me in 10-12 business days for $146. So to get it to me in the time I was GIVEN I have to pay a ransom fee to get it before Christmas. The service rep I finally talked to said they can't "rush" it for free, and I said "I'm not asking you to rush it, I'm asking you to get it to me IN THE PROMISED TIME FRAME". She said she doesn't have the power to do that. So now I have to 'wait' for a manager to call me in the next 24 hours, and hope I don't miss their #800 spam looking call. Worst customer service experience ever. But man, their marketing is incredible. Let's slash prices so that we have TOO MANY orders for our staff, and make less money per transaction, so our service will suck in the end. #1 I had about 200 more items to send but was testing out this process with only 60 for now. So they just lost $1000's on me by giving me a horrible experience in the appetizer. And judging from the 3.6 on here, I'd say I'm not the only disappointed person. I personally have 107 reviews on google all 5.0, and take great pride in my service. This company will eventually lose every single person they do business with by NOT giving service and automated messages that lie profusely.
I sent 14 VHS tapes do be digitized. I'm grateful that none of them were damaged in shipping because the quality on many of the DVD's that I received back was so poor that I had to perform the same process using Roxio Easy VHS To DVD 3 (for under $40). This and a VHS player were all I needed to create a much higher quality of video and audio file than what I received back. Legacybox needs to maintain their equipment better and to review their finished product for quality before returning to their customers if they care at all about the service.
For example, a friend recorded a memorable event, but the product I received from Legacybox captured everything before and after the ten seconds of the accomplishment. The 10 second static was so well timed, it seemed almost deliberate. I'm thankful that the VHS was not damaged so I was able to record it to file. Other DVD's I received were so useless for both audio and video that I almost threw them away, but I'm keeping in case Legacybox wants to refute my claim. I'll give them credit for communicating status by sending 20 e-mails in the 77 days they had my tapes.
The films I sent came back on a thumb drive and looks as if they projected them onto a wall copied them on a thumb drive less the audio. Really need to beware of this group. They are a total rip off.

Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back!
