I purchased 2 Legacy Box Groupons in 2020, totaling a cost of $100, for a value 3x that. They both have expired, my bad, so I was going to just redeem for the amount I paid as Groupon allows.
But Legacy Box would not apply it to my total without cancelling a 50% off 'sale' they are having (which they always have).
So it would actually cost me more money to use the coupons.
THIS IS SUCH A SCAM!
And the 50% off only make the price somewhat competitive with other sites, still more expensive.
Now that my photos are digitized, it will eliminate clutter of having photo albums. The promptness of the order makes this a great service. I recommended this to my family and friends. Thank you.
I retained 8mm and Super 8 films from 50 years ago

Seeing my kids grow up again is such a gift. Sending all our old VHS and VHSC tapes in was so easy. I'm so happy with the results. I only wish I had done it sooner!

I wish I could give Legacybox a 5-star rating, but unfortunately I will have to add my review to the many others giving the company just one star. It took four months to get our original tapes back, along with the DVDs they made. Their excuses for the lengthy delay were that they were short staffed, it was their peak season, etc., but they assured me that my tapes were waiting in the production queue. After I finally said, "Just return our originals and refund our money," lo and behold, I got everything back in about a week. But the quality was terrible -- all the DVDs were pixelated, and one had only about 20 minutes recorded out of an hour and a half. Attempting to resolve the quality issue with them or to get a refund yielded no results. Granted, our tapes are old home movies and not A+ quality by today's digital standards, but our originals were perfectly satisfactory and certainly better than Legacybox's finished product. Perhaps they might focus more on their production and less on their constant emailing of special deals to try to attract new first-time customers. If you are considering using them, don't.
I've sent my stuff back in Nov of 2021. I've tried contacting them and no one is reaching back to me. This is either a scam or they lost my memories from when I was a kid! I want my tapes back!

Awful experience I sent off 9 vhs tapes and 25 pictures and spent almost $200 only to receive no DVD No pictures added digital videos of some with only 7 minutes or less worth of film this a true disappointment and I am extremely upset with this company beware doing business with them

Your photos would appear in a folder above your video files. We are a 1:1 transfer company meaning that the digital files should match your original content. Not only do they take months to process an order, but they lose items you have sent. So much for preserving your legacy. I sent video tapes, photos, and films. What was returned was of poorer quality than the originals. All items returned were dark, out of focus, or grainy. Do not trust them with irreplaceable items as what i deemed most important was never copied or returned. The quality of the work is below what you would expect from children experimenting with photo software for the first time. You will save hundreds of dollars (I spent $700 with this firm) by ordering photo saving equipment from Amazon and doing it yourself or having a knowledgable friend do it, even for a fee. Learning to use and to process your own photos with your own equipment means you can process in the future, control the quality of the images, and not risk losing the originals. I estimate I would have saved $400.00 and 3 months waiting time had I done so myself. Also beware that they request additional funds before sending your items with no reason for the charges and also have a yearly charge for "preserving" your data.
I can't write a review because I haven't received anything back from Legacybox as yet. I have to mention that the reviews you have posted do not give me a lot of confidence.

They did a great job at digitizing my videos. Some of them were very old and hard to see, but they told me about it.

Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back!
