I purchased a cover fror my wife's reader. It wasn't the correct model that I needed.
We contacted Kobo Help...it took us two days to get through as we abandoned the first attempt after an hours wait. On the second time we had somebody pick up the call after about 25 minutes. They clearly didn't understand English very well, and kept spelling my wife's name wrong.
Finally they sent through a link to a form asking why we were returning the item. It did not provide an address to return the item to, but instead asked for the tracking number of the returned item. Talk about putting the cart before the horse!
She has now been waiting 30 minutes to get a return address, still with no answer!
Great e readers, good book selection, but their service is absolutely terrible.
As an author, I have over 150 books on Amazon that earn me a good income every month. However, after cancelling the KDP select on Amazon (which earns me around £300 per month plus a similar amount from sales) to upload all my books onto KOBO, I was horrified to find only 4 sales totaling £6.34 after 3 months! (That is a loss of some £900 over 3 months) I wrote to them to ask what was going on and all I received back was a reply suggesting to change the pricing! The pricing is already at the lowest levels available in all countries so I am now transferring all my books back to KDP.
Absolute rubbish for authors.
I recently found Kobo books, and have purchased 3 books from them so far. I love how affordable the books are, which is definitely helping me read more. The first book i bought had so many spelling mistakes, making me wonder if the book was ever edited, however even with the spelling mistakes i was still able to read it perfectly fine:)
All and all, happy with my purchases.
Kobo's customer service has proven to be extremely poor, and the warranty does not cover anything at all! Feels like a scam
My Kobo, which cost around £300 with the pen, has white lines out of nowhere (there was NO pressure put on the device and it did NOT drop), and the company refuses to fix it, even if I OFFER TO PAY for the repair. How is this even remotely acceptable?
£300 to the bin, and the company can only offer me a £10 discount on a new? No chance i'm ever buying a new one. A disgrace. Kindle
It is!
I purchased a Kobo ebooks (Peak by Anders Ericsson) because I could not find another platform that sold that particular book. I purchased it for school. This platform could improve in some areas: Firstly, each chapter of a book is separate, meaning I could be at chapter 8 and the page numbers will still be (1-31) instead of the actual page number of the real book. So, when I need to cite pages for essays, I'd have to rely on taking notes of the pages by counting them. For each passage of the book I would note down, I would have to write (154 (2)), the former being the page from the actual book that I have been counting and the latter being the page it is in a chapter on Kobo (ex: the 2nd page of chapter 8). This is extremely unneeded frustrating because not only do I have to keep track of the pages, but I also can't go back through the book and cite something I did not note down because I don't have access to the actual page number the author of the book noted. Secondly, unlike other platforms, I can't search up a word or phrase and be redirected to the exact part of the book I'm looking for. Third, there is no highlight option. The ebook is not user friendly and has a lot of limitations to the point where I avoid buying ebooks from Kobo at all costs.
I bought a Clara Ereader and case from them and when the device arrived, I changed my mind and didn't even open the unit. I initiated the refund request and they sent me the return label for only the case and not for the Clara ereader. It's been 25 days since and I am still trying to get the correct return label for Ereader and the case because I am worried that if I use the wrong return label, I won't get the refund for ereader and then will have to spend time in the countless number of time to get it resolved, so I want to ship both items with the correct return label. I took their support 10 times either through chat, email, or phone. But they keep on sending me the return label for only the case and not for the ereader. In comparison to Amazon: At Amazon, it only takes 2-3 minutes to create the return label and it is a completely automatic process, with no personnel involved. Buy it from Amazon for ease of doing business.
Is there a rating lower than zero? DO NOT BUY
I bought a Kobo. It is defective, the screen cannot be turned on. Therefore, it is unusable. I spent 2 months following kobo's website info for troubleshooting, etc. I did online chats, etc.
An electronics store confirmed that it is unusable junk.
KOBO REFUSES TO EXCHANGE OR REPAIR the reader. THEY KEEP SAYING TOUGH LUCK.
When I threatened to write reviews on social media, they offered an exchange for an old, refurbished kobo. Unacceptable. But I agreed. And they still have done nothing. They just want me to go away.
I will write reviews everywhere and make sure that the whole world knows DO NOT BUY A KOBO, or their books, EVER. YOU WILL BE CHEATED; THEY STOLE MY MONEY. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING
Don't use KOBO. I just purchased an e-book yesterday and the only option on my PC was to use "read now" button. Today that button doesn't exist anymore. Another issue was that logging in after the purchase was impossible for some hours. Also you can't download you copy - only a URL-link.
Now I have bought a book I can't read without using a lot more time downloading different readers that might work today - yesterday they didn't. I am done with that company and must regard my money a loss
The choice is impressive. Unfortunately, all books are DRMed. So when you decide to change your e-book reader, you will lose all the books you've already bought. It's like being a member of a library knowing that you will have to return all your books. Even if you paid for it. It's simply fraud.
Do not buy e-books with DRM.
So I cancelled my subscription and they didn't take it off. Ok I figure one mistake, not! They tell me they can't find my CC I give the name billing address CC, everything and they can't find my account. I told them you just sent me an email and you CANT FIND MY ACCOUNT! Really?
Was charged a restocking fee after returning my device (a box which I barely opened) when this was never mentioned in my cart, nor on my receipt nor by the agent I spoke to upon purchase. They argued that the information is provided through a link on their website which can basically be updated anytime! Even after escalating they said they can do nothing for me! Well I will never ever buy their products or recommend these products and website.
I bought a book, the money was debited from my bank account some days ago, and the book is still locked. I sent 2 emails asking for a refund. No answer! Money lost! Fraudulent app
Purchased a book but wasn't able to access my account as the email id was being rejected. Even though I already had an account I was not able to access it or read the book that i already purchased. Not sure if kobo is legit enough to be a good reader app. Very poor user experience
Kobo offered 100 points per book read during February, but I had to chase them up several times and they still refuse to give the points earned by the terms of their promotion. The help centre is very difficult to locate and contact, the staff don't seem to know anything about the promotion, and took a long time to come back to me with a result (which was wrong in any case).
The app is locking up my phone and doesn't seem to be able to handle lots of books in your personal library (1000+), forcing to have periodic purges whether I want to or not. You can't sort by genre on the iphone app, which would have been very helpful.
The bonus is there are many good books available, including many free books from starting authors and introducing ongoing series. I would be happier putting up with the glitches in the app if the service was honest and reliable re: pricing and promotions. Unless Kobo put right their refusal to honour their promotion I will look for another service to continue with.
Ordered 4 eBooks 6 weeks ago and have yet to receive anything and regardless how many times I contact them, all I ever get in return is "We only send eBooks"
How hard is it to check if they sent out and if so where they sent it just resend.
Or just resend them.
NEVER AGAIN>
As an Author using Kobo for the first time, normally Google Books and Kindle for ePub, and Bricks and mortar stores for my paper backs.
It is with some surprise, that based upon experience over 8 months, Kobo business model is to not pay its authors for copies sold.
The model is to peddle non payment excuses over an 8 month period and then simply close the authors account (facts).
Please seek out a professional publisher for your books.
The matter is currently being addressed by the Canadian Government, which one assumes doe snot support this type of fraudulent activity.
Time will tell.
Authors should lean from my mistake and stick with the major publishing platforms, do not venture into the world of Kobo, without doing due diligence first.
Just my experience..
I downloaded a copy of Mortal Crimes Collection. Half way through second book all the following chapters/books were locked. Kept being advised I needed a kobo account to read the locked items. As I have an account, as confirmed by kobo, why the hell cant I read the rest of the collection. Trying to get an answer or any kind of help from Kobo is complete waste of time. I will be looking for an alternative ebooks provider.
Loads too slow. Updates too slow. Hard cover is way better. Pagination is inconsistent. Basically impossible to reference in any academically accepted way.
Who cares about the hardware if you have a problem and need support? We really liked the Libra H2O until we had to send it for a warranty replacement. Kobo customer service has ZERO access to the rest of the company and can only escalate the issue to their "team" which does nothing. No phone - just chats. No help - just promises. Weeks after receiving it, they could not explain why my replacement was not being sent.
It took weeks to finally, I hope, get a refund underway because I can not and will not deal with them any longer. Even emails to the Kobo and Rakuten CEOs were ignored.
For the long, detailed truth with chats, read the web site I created to help warn people.
Read before you buy.

Answer: No idea, all I want is rid of these unwanted useless apps off my Motorola.
