People are leaving reviews after just one or two messages. Guess what, if they offer super low price and it's rejected they will leave 1 star. Not useful and misleading. Also people on kijiji expect you to give them your items pretty almost free
Site seems lost and getting worse. Same used products reappearing page after page after page make surfing a miserable experience. Search relevance is completely absent lately. Far too many "businesses" appearing in search results.
There's more but I'm done. Moving on to find the new better.
I've never seen a website decline as quickly as Kijiji has over the last 12 months. Its a ghost site now... all the buyers have been driven away by endless ads and scam artists... lol... Exactly what happen to ebay.
Kijiji.ca works great if you know how to use it. They will not allow multiple ads in different target market locations of the same product or service - although this is supposed to be a global policy, many professional resellers are now flooding the pages with repeated ads for their products. Automobile sales and marketing "opportunities" - these sellers have found a way to get their ads placed in multiple categories, but joe-public is usually denied. There is also often a long delay in when you submit the ad to when it is posted, so posting time sensitive ads can be a problem as their review of posted ads is slow.
Kijiji used to be Canadian website a place you could go to find people who had something want to sell locally you can pick it up or even use shipping but now have advertising for Chinese seller.
This service since eBay has taken over has gone nowhere but down. We want our old website back.
What happened? I used Kijiji all the time now is bad as eBay.
This service since eBay has taken over has gone nowhere but down.
They got too big to give a damn about their customers
Horrible search options, Pleas give us our old Kijiji back.
Too many advertisers.
Stop placing ads on Kijiji and go to Craigslist.
Poor quality pictures, limited description wording, high price, no shipping offered.
I think some sellers think everyone on here is a crook or trying to con them.
You message them for more information or better quality pictures and they just
Won't do it! Then they wonder why their item doesn't sell. One item I was interested in has been on Kijiji for two years! If you try and help them by sending better info. On their item they just ignore it. I remind them that the buyer will pay for shipping and the transaction can be done with an e-transfer.
I get the impression that some sellers don't know what that is. If they are too lazy to take an item to the post office then they are totally relying on local sales, which really limits their chances. Anyways, that is my rant for today but I
Just get tired of some of these people who limit themselves and their selling prospects on here.
The new review system they have just put into place is an absolute joke. Demanding 10 messages back and forth before you can give a review. Most times I will have 2 - 4 before I give them my cell to get the address from. If I decide to 'buy. I just bought a book scanner from a guy in courtice ontario. We had about a dozen messages back and forth before we went to text for the address etc. the deal went through without a hitch the product was exactly as stated ( actually far better than his ad. Yet, kijiji, will not let me post a review of the transaction with him. Barry Ad ID *******805.
If you read this I found you to be a very personable and helpful seller and I hopefully will be able to buy more of your items in the future.
I received a fraudulent email from kijiji. Impossible to leave a message or get in contact with people here. Even when written "need more help, contact us", I am sent back to their useless knowledge center. Finally found "If you have any questions, please reach out to our Customer Support team."...and this link sends me again back to the main useless help page...
Avoid Kijiji for Paid Ads - Wasted Money!
I'm disappointed with Kijiji's paid ads. I spent money, but my ad got only six views in weeks. It didn't work as promised, and I feel like I wasted my money. Don't use it for paid ads!
I have had mixed results using Kijiji. I successfully and quickly sold a chair several years ago, but could not sell other furniture as there appeared to be many similar ads. More recently I was the victim of a scammer who sold me a stolen modem which my internet service provider of course refused to allow me to use. So, no harm in trying to sell stuff - word your ad carefully and accurately. But buying things for cash is risky, particularly electronics.
They have no site maintenance technicians. Distance filter has not worked for over 3 weeks, so ads cannot be found locally. This is bad for people looking to rent for July in their own town. Ads deleted still appear, and forum postings are impossible. Kijiji admits they are having problems but nothing is changing.
I've written numerous times to the Admin staff at Kijiji, to ask them to actually go in an look at the ads some of these idiots post online. If someone can't tell the difference between "Wanted" and "For Sale" do you really want to deal with them. I mean seriously, if you want to sell a table or other item, why do you put it in the "wanted" section. Idiots.
Kijiji is outdated now, and there are many better options available. Whomever they have operating their site should be fired immediately, and replaced with a 14 year old who actually knows how to build a functioning website. Trying to place an ad, or browse an ad is just too slow and time consuming now. I don't see this company operating much longer if they continuously ignore the concerns of their users. I agree, several years ago the site was much better; but now it's just tedious. They deserve to go under, and the idiots who work there should put in a resume at Starbucks.
Kijiji is useless now unless you want to scroll through page after page of the same companies advertising their "great" deals. No way to filter them out. I thought the whole purpose of this site is to find used products sold by individuals in your area. Now it's just a good platform for ads from various warehouses
Almost every time you post something there's an issue and when you want to work with them they treat you like a hassle. They've actually blocked my live chat option, it's very frustrating. Especially when they're trying to wrongfully charge for a free ad. Overall I don't recommend using their site but they remain a large platform for many users, unfortunately.
When I first discovered Kijiji I loved it. I was able to find so many interesting, good quality things. Now it is a waste of my time to bother. Yes, there probably still are some great finds on the site but it will take you a month of Sundays to sort through all the commercial/businesses that use the site. They clog up the site by slightly rewording ads for the same basic thing... so annoying! One example is used hotel furniture or the desk guy. Also every time you click to the next page you have to scroll down through a bunch of ads by paid, priority sellers (usually the over priced items). Too bad it was a really cool site, but those days are gone!
While looking for jobs in my area kijiji allows adds from the other side of canada. I tried to make this known to them but theres no way to contact them! The closest you get is a topic page that is an intentional dead end. Ebay has completely ruined this once useful site. Leave it to them to destroy everything they touch. Terrible
I just can't believe how polluted with ads this site has become. The best part used to be how user friendly it was but now it's hard to even search for items in your own area! Deleted the app and will never return to the site... such a shame as it was great once
Rated a 1 because there is no negative number...
Countless duplicate ads. No indication of listing counts in various categories. Forced to wade through pages of unnecessary repeat information. It reminds me of the Canadian auto trader app. They sold out to the car dealerships and lost the following of the individual selling their cars etc. now spending huge on advertising to try and convince people there's value there. Not. Kijiji now has no respect for my time. It's a complete time waster.
It's forced me to go to Facebook as a last resort. Marketplace is at least the real deal of individuals listing items.
After being with Kijiji from its launch it's adios for me.
They used to be ok but not anymore.
I placed some ads with Kijiji looking for dancers for an outdoor event.
Kijiji deleted my ads for prohibited reason.
When contacted, for them, the wording "dancers" is associated with sexual activities, thus the ads violated their policies. And talking to those uneducated people did not go anywhere.
Come on, at least have a decency to hire people that at least understand English, or have certain education degree.
Just unbelievable! I should give "no star" but there isn't an option.
Kijiji which is owned by ebay is another example of a company with enough money to have google list them 1,2 and 3 in google search results and honestly for a company that charges so much money to post ads at top and erase without refund or more than a reply of wrong category, duplicate ad. It has to also be the only business I know that has no customer service phone number. Kijiji site should be shut down. With so many complaints maybe a class action lawsuit is in order. Disruption of business or loss of income sounds about right.
Answer: When American companies take over they ruin everything!
