AWFUL. We were planning a trip to Napa and booked our hotel through Kayak.com. HOWEVER, when we arrived, it turned out that the hotel had been mapped incorrectly in their system. It turns out that the hotel was over an hour away! At first, Kayak.com did not even acknowledge their own error. After we got them to acknowledge their error (in writing) they stopped returning our emails about getting a refund. Thankfully we used AmericanExpress and they promptly refunded our money (wagging their finger at Kayak.com all the way). An awful customer support experience. I would expect more from a company founded by a Kellogg grad. What a joke.
I booked a car on kayak thinking I got a great deal. Upon searching for the deal, choosing the car from Budget Rental, and entering my CC #, NOWHERE was there mention of possible charge for miles ontop of the rental. No mention of it, did not lead me to look for it after receiving my confirmation email. Had I seen anything that said, here is the estimated price and cost per mile is such and such, I would not have booked the car. Neither Budget or Kayak is taking full responsibility for what feels like a surprse charge. Kayak is willing to cover some of the cost, which I appreciate, but I still feel like they mislead me in what I was getting. I use them to find flights etc, but honestly, $300 is not cheap and I will never use them again! So disappointed that a company could do this. It should say next to each price offered, but instead they blame Budget and Budget blames them. No one is actually looking out for the customer! Bad business!
I travel to Canada fairly often and am within 2 hours of 5 major airports. While I would never book through Kayak - it uses the major travel companies, like orbitz, that are all rather scammy and can cause a host of problems - it's great for initially comparing the prices for the different airports. Sometimes airport A is cheapest to fly out of, sometimes it's $200 more than the other 4, and sometimes it's best for me to do one layover. Kayak helps me figure out what I'm looking for when I go to the airlines' websites.
0 STARS This was the WORST experience EVER... NEVER BOOK through kayak.com! They have the worst customer service and its a total scam! You will end up paying more for your reservations because of "a glitch in their system"... kayak.com SUCKS!
I have always used sidestep.com for all our travel deals and have recommended it to everyone I know. Lately I have not been able to access it on my computer. What is going on? I have no idea where to go for as good a site as this one for planning all our trips.
Travel-Search-Engines.com reviewed several travel sites. In a 2013 rate comparison between Kayak.com and BestTravelCoupon.com, BTC beat Kayak on 85 out of 90 rate comparisons.
Both sites claim to search 100s of travel sites. But Kayak results tend to only post the large travel booking sites such as Expedia and Priceline. BTC searches more sites and posts better rates.
I still use Kayak to check rates but BTC is usually a better option.
Booked a room 5/23 around noon in vegas, check in was at 4.
Was memorial day weekend, went to check in only to find the hotel had been sold out for days. Called kayak, no help. We were charged for the room (207.58), but no room and Vegas was sold out. Ended up having to sleep in the truck, was the worst.
Don't waste your time with kayak.com
Site is slow and no guarantees. It's 5/28 and my money is still not back in my acct.
I am pretty satisfied with its service. I rented a car for 3 days to travel around Arizona. The service I was provided with was good enough. I've rented the cheapest car there and it was in great condition. No complaints to Kayak.
I use this mainly for airfares. It is usually my starting place to compare different airlines. The only down side is that it does not capture ALL airlines, most notably, Southwest does not come up. That's why it gets only 4 stars.
Stay away! We booked our flights through Kayak which actually was through an agent called Airfare. What a nightmare! We need to change the departure flight for one passenger (we're a family with a three year old), and the customer service was horrible. They have a complicated regulation that does not allow you to change your flight within the next 8 days of your original flight and you will have to change your return flight too if you change your departure! And they claim it's the airlines regulation where it in fact is not. Yes, we crosschecked with the airline. What a scam! Don't EVER EVER EVER USE KAYAK! And beware of a company called Airfare, they're scammers!
I prepaid for a 4 star hotel through Kayak only to find out when I showed up at the hotel that Kayak never confirmed my reservation and I had nowhere to stay! You can imagine the shock I was in and it was a busy convention week so I did not have many options. I ended up scrambling into a miserable other hotel that was half the price of what I paid for and they would not refund the difference of what I prepaid to Kayak. A terrible and unforgettable experience and Kayak has done nothing to make it right.
It was frustrating and confusing. When I finally made my decision it redirected me to a site I was unfamiliar with to make payment I couldn't choose the type of bed and by the time all was said and done it said there were only two types of rooms available and neither one would work for us
Bought a ticket through KAYAK, the airline moved the date forward, making it useless for me. Nobody could give me my money back for a while. Finnair was saying it wasn't booked through them, KAYAK was saying they did not book it (I have the receipt from them, confirmation number and all), could not get to anyone at KAYAK who would tell me what the third party is or even try to be helpful.
HOURS spent. Their insurance company won't have anything to do with this either, I could not get my money back at all, they just keep saying it's not the situation they cover.
After I wrote this review someone got in touch with me and eventually paid me back. Not the insurance money though, that was entirely wasted, never buy flight insurance, it seems to be just scam.
I been using kayak for years now. It's used to be my only search for flight. Kayak Always have the best deal of all site. But not anymore. The price as shown is not the price you gonna get when you purchase. Or the flight is not available.
Hi guys,
I am here with a request from you. I would like to know if Kayak send the invoice trough email?
- needs to be requested separately?
- included in billing address?
- invoice included in confirmation page or email?
- printable? Ability to save invoice in pdf?
I will really be happy if one of you can asnwer. Thanks a lot
Kayak.com compares pricing of a variety of flight information for you and is convenient in that aspect, but the navigation of the page, the prices offered, and the overall quality of the experience was less than stellar.
We are deciding to planning a trip to malaysia. Then we are went to the travel trip site kayak.com for the travel guidelines and tips. They gave map, climate details and other details like expense, vehicles, tourist place, food and cottage etc. But we are very struggling for reaching and staying there because of the bad guidelines and the trip advice.
DO NOT USE KAYAK! They are a scam. They will use your credit info and keep charging you for reservations you never made. My bank even called them to tell them they are committing fraud and fought to get my money back. Their call centers are fraudulent. They are not in the United States but they pretend that they are and use American names to try and fool you but none of them understand English at all. It is impossible to communicate with them. STAY AWAY!
Do not use kayak.com. We bought tickets through them. The tickets were canceled, but we did not receive notification. Even though they were canceled, the tickets continued to be listed by kayak.com under My Trips, so we had no way of knowing that they were cancelled. We didn't find out that we had no tickets until we checked in for the flight. These things happen, but when we called them to report that they information listed under My Trips was inaccurate, they were not only unhelpful, but extremely rude. Using kayak.com cous us an extra $1000 and the aggravation of being treated rudely. Spare yourself and do not use kayak.com
I recently used Kayak to secure a hotel reservation in Greenville SC. The Kayak site reviewed the hotel as reasonable and a good buy. Nothing was further from the truth. The owner of the hotel had let the site go down hill and it was disgusting. The hotel employees were empathetic and offered me a refund. When they found I had bought on Kayak, they let me know I was out of luck. This is a sham and should be outlawed. This is outright theft and Kayak and the hotel owner should be prosecuted. When I went back to the Kayak site to post my review of the hotel, I was not allowed to post a review.
Answer: Occasionally the airlines may offer a cheaper ticket, but this is uncommon. I find that occasionally at Qatar airlines. This may occasionally happen if you have their club membership that may offer a discount.
Answer: Kayak.com is a legit company. I have bought dozens or tickets from their site. I always start search from them. In one case, they helped me even though I purchased a ticket from one of the vendors on their website who would not help me.
Answer: I would reach out to Kayak from their website. I am sure they will try to help you.
