Willfully withholding vital information is the legal definition of FRAUD. Need I say more?
Oh. My own phone number is nine years old and my daughter divorced her new husband!
I subscribed for this site entered my credit card. They message came up like: They will send full background report to my email. THEY NEVER DID.
PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY,, THE ONLY TRUE INFORMATION YOU WILL SEE IS THE AGE, LOCATION AND POSSIBLE RELATIVES. SCAMMERSSSS
Cancelled my membership 3 times and still get charged every month. Now taking it to my CC company to try to handle, always apologize but never refund the charges.
Anyone who gives this site better than 1 star works there and is required to by the employer. The site is garbage. Signing up only means you're a dumb-$#*!.
Membership touts access to info in 30 different data points. However, what is accessed is mostly available in white pages, except for criminal info. Once you pay and get your report, you are then inundated with numerous options to access deeper information previously not available, of course for more money. Its a bait and switch. What misleading BS. Also, the criminal background info is so inaccurate its ridiculous. Be careful on what you receive and believe. Double check court case numbers the best you can. Most of the info is incomplete which makes it very hard to verify if the match to the search name is true. I did a self background check and the report had 9 different crimes associated with other people, not me, and I dont have a common name. You are better off just doing a Freedom of Information request to the state or local government. The company states that they cross check all info. BS. Theres a big difference between crosschecking information with a second database, and verifying the accuracy of said information. Dont waste your time or money. Oh and when you cancel, they immediately offer to extend your membership for $9 instead of $34 a month. The info received in the reports is not worth a monthly bill.
My old email address was used to open an account and investigate myself in 2017. I am disabled and do not work, why would I investigate myself. My husband realized this charge on my card and I did not recognize it. We called and were told what is was, that it was never used since activated but being charged monthly. They closed the account but said they would only return 12 months. Asked why only 12 months and the answer was, that is how far our system allows. How can a legitimate company acknowledging what has happened cannot return the full amount. Taking $$ from someone on SSDI, does not make a company trustworthy.

Instant Checkmate blocked us on twitter and Facebook. They have yet to contact us to resolve this. We did get an email from Amy, Director of Member Services but when we called, there was no Amy or a Member Services. Maybe they need to be investigated.
I normally don't write reviews, but I felt like I had to. So here it goes...
UPDATE---my agent wrote me back and gave me 35.12 dollars worth of money back! I
My other agent did get back to me last week and she said like "we get our data from numerous public sources. The information is then uploaded into our database. If you are getting inaccurate information on our site, it's due to the information we obtain. Unfortunately, we cannot edit or manipulate the data. When you purchase a subscription, we guarantee that we will search every database available to us; however, because we simply display records as they're provided to us, we cannot guarantee the content of the records that may show up in the final report."
So far instant checkmate hasn't contacted me about my experience and my gut feeling it it probably NEVER will.
At least I found sex offenders living near my area. I really like it a lot. The addresses here are more current than the ones I found on Spokeo. It even offered me the option to delete records.
However, I still won't recommend instant checkmate...
Sorry I didn't take screenshots otherwise I would've had uploaded it!

Thank you
I have become one of the latest victims of Instant checkmate they lure you in with specials then give you NOTHING. Why the heck are they acreditted with the BBB.
Now I don't trust them either
Why are these crooks still in business?¿?
Please do NOT waste your time or your money on this site. They advertise that they will provide you with a plethora of information about an individual. In reality they provide you with scant, useless information that you could glean from Google.
With a basic membership, (~$23/month), when you search an individual you get little more than their name, address, phone number, and for some asinine reason, their horoscope information. Seriously?! Their horoscope! Geez! Then Instant Checkmate tries to tempt you into purchasing additional information related to the individual's criminal/arrest records. They offer this as "Premium" data, but of course, it requires an additional outlay of your hard-earned money. (I had already fallen for the basic membership sales pitch and had been greatly disappointed, so I did not buy into the premium data lie they were pitching.)
This site is a ruse! I can not guarantee you from experience, but I presume that each time you pay more money to get more information, they will only promise you some additional information if you are willing to pay even more money. Instant Checkmate may not be breaking any laws... but they are certainly unscrupulous. Their basic membership "product" is attainable via Google and they dangle the carrot of "premium data" to entice you into spending endless amounts of money. Please, please, PLEASE do NOT waste your time!
BTW... I cancelled after ONE day with this sorry site. They robbed me of $23. Lesson learned...
The customer service team are very professional and helpful, they make sure to clarify any confusion and I get every information I need.
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave us with your feedback. We are delighted to see that you enjoyed your experience using Instant Checkmate, and we look forward to continuing to assist you in the future. Thank you, Instant Checkmate Support
So, this site didn't give me any more information than I could get on a normal search. In addition, they charge you once, and then ask for $19.00 more if you want the extended search which includes bankruptcies, etc. I did the extended charge and it turned up nothing. IN ADDITION, IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO LOOK THINGS UP. I CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER IF YOU ARE INSTALLING SPYWARE INTO YOUR COMPUTER AS THEY ARE "SEARCHING." This could be a paranoia, but there's no reason to risk it as you get no worthwhile information.
I had no problems signing up, got the information I needed quickly, the reports were accurate and complete. I would recommend Instant Checkmate to any of my friends.

OK... I was curious... What can people REALLY find out about someone online? For lots of money, you too can find out.
I was checking out a restaurant and scrolling down, I saw this thing for "Instant Background Checks" called CheckMate.com... Curious as to what it might say about me (not that I have anything to hide) the site didn't even know my name. So anyone relying on it for RECENT info is going to be deceived.
Due to divorce, I changed my name 2.5 years ago. It DID come up with the names of several people related to me, but that was it.
Checkmate had my middle initial wrong and it had my old married name. It did correctly come up with the last 3 cities I have lived in, but then they pour on the sales tactics to get you to pay (of course... you have to wait at least 10 minutes for all of the supposed information to load)... and then when I tried to leave the page, the site made it difficult to do that. And, it offered to give incorrect information about me for just $1 after saying the least expensive "package" was $24.00 (I think).
Either way... I was slightly impressed when it came up with 4 people "possibly" related to me (all of them were), but since it did not have my current name, I wasn't even willing to pay it $1. Plus, it has all of these disclaimers saying that you can't use it to stalk anyone or deny a job to anyone... So unless one is a private detective I don't even think it is worth $1. Also one of the people it said I was possibly related to has been dead for over 3 years.
Instructed by IC's customer service that I must go to "settings" and block their URL/email in all devices. -This will not help if these change because IC cannot remove my contact info for solicitations. CS ph# on hold 30min x3.
I had to call several times to cancel my subscription then they still charged me for another month after it was cancelled they said you have to cancel it 30 days before the scheduled payment.
This site is a total rip off. The information is incomplete and at best inaccurate. The billing practices amount to fraud. It is very unclear from the web that if you request a "complete" report that there is another $20 charge. I thought that the charge was only for downloading the PDF format, which I did not ask for. In several instances a name that was clearly typed in, with city and state repeatedly produced a report on a different name in a different state. I asked for a report on my friend's ex husband, knowing that he had an arrest record from a year and a half ago-nothing. Even recent divorce decrees don't show up. There is absolutely no way to check one's billing account on line. You have to call. That is how I determined that there were an additional almost $240.00 charged to my account. I had typed in a name and asked for what I thought was a report included in my monthly fee when we lost power and I had to reboot. Back online I typed in the name again and got the message that I had already "bought" the report. That's why I called the 866 number. I cannot understand how BBB can give this company a B+ (yes they do) with the total number on complaints listed there. As a retired senior it makes me cry to think I was so duped.
Never have I been so insulted and paid for a service that hadn't been working for several days. When I called their 800 number I was told apple no longer supports their app. New login is time consuming and definitely not user friendly. I asked to cancel my service and was told they were canceling me. Take my advice, GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY!
Hello Candy,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us with your feedback. The experience you are describing is not one that we believe any of our customers should have. If you would like, please feel free to reach out to us at support@instantcheckmate.com with a description of what happened and we will try to make things right.
Thank you
Month after month, they continued to charge my credit card, ignoring my requests to cancel their 'so-called' subscription! I've spent HOURS on the phone, with them and with my credit card company, to get them to CANCEL & GO AWAY!
I feel duped and hustled! They're like an infection that you just can't shake as them slink in and tap your credit card, month after month, making like it's MY fault because 'I subscribed' to their 'so-called' service!
Buyer BEWARE! I'll NEVER use this horrific company again! I'm a business owner and if I treated my customers like this, I wouldn't HAVE customers! This company doesn't deserve to be in business and I can't WAIT until they go under after hustling people again and again! No good ever comes of that sort of behavior!
This website boasts that they are "The internet's leading authorite on background checks." They do not provide any informataion on people known to have a criminal history., They just take your money & tell you to do more checking on your own. WHY & WHAT DID I PAY THEM FOR? This is a bogus website that is interested in only making money & not providing the service they say they will & are charging for.
Answer: No, you can't see anyone's call log or texts. At first it was 1.98 to receive access to the report. Then once I paid the 1.98 I selected "access report" (again) then I was promoted to select a membership Lowest being 22$. Most options tell you that you're paying that amount the same day but the cheapest membership didn't say you would be paying the same day but you are. So roughly 24$ to see what you could've found on Google. When you get to the phone log part it says "you're stuck" or some bull crap probably pay more money which is unreal as you have selected a membership already. This is a rip off there's just now around it smh
Answer: Contact your credit card company, tell them that InstantCheckmate is making unauthorized charges to your card; have your credit card company cancel your card and issue you a new one. I know, it sucks. That's what I had to do. For several months I got "declined payment" indicators listed in my online credit statement, which was good, because InstantCheckmate couldn't get their fraudulent charge to go through. The police, the FBI, or FTC or somebody needs to crack down on InstantCheckmate. I guess maybe it'll take a class action lawsuit against them. But really, the wisest thing to do is to cancel your credit card, have a new one issued -- and be extremely cautious and careful from now on to whom and where you use and give your credit card number. I know, it's a pain in the a##! Good luck. Cheers.
Answer: Absolutely not worth the money they give you incomplete answers and keep charging you for additional answers. Incorrect &/or incomplete reports. Stay far away!
Answer: Appears to be feedback manipulation on consumeraffairs.com to me. Notice all of the replies from Instant Checkmate. They had no current or correct info for me other than my childrens names, which I can find easily anyplace.
Answer: I recommend watching your credit card statement for additional charges for a few months. This company is notorious for not cancelling accounts.
InstantCheckmate has a rating of 1.5 stars from 344 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with InstantCheckmate most frequently mention credit card, phone number and email address. InstantCheckmate ranks 86th among Government Records sites.
