I am a first responder. I go on BJ's website and since I do not have time to go shopping, I figured it's ok to pay the additional charges for same day delivery. Once I entered my payment information and verified my order I hit the submit button! All of a sudden I see that everything I ordered was out of stock and they wanted me to approve replacement items (that was not at all equivilant to what was ordered). Now I have to wait 3 day to receive my credit on my credit card. I am not stopping here, I will report to Consumer affairs and BBB.
I would give this service a 0 star rating if I could. After just 3 orders I finally had a shopper give me the actual store receipt. What I discovered was a scam that overcharged me $31.34 on just one order. Almost every item purchased was overcharged by Instacart. 50 cents to $1 per item. I don't know who gets to keep the overcharge, but with a $45 tip to the shopper and then the $31 overcharge, I would be smiling and happy when I dropped off the groceries too. It's a SCAM. I have to assume that the other two orders were the same scam and with the $100 express membership (that I cannot cancel) I am most likely out well over $200.00. Expensive lesson to learn. PLEASE LISTEN, DO NOT USE INSTACART - THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU! I attempted to contact them for help and after 2-hours and 5 different representatives, they just kept hanging-up on our chat - which is the only way to contact them. Unbelievable, I feel stupid for trusting them during this pandemic - Lesson learned, Thanks Instacart!
Its not enough that they are making money from charging higher prices plus service charge plus delivery plus tip, they charge you for items that were never delivered and when you ask for credit they say they will credit you in the next purcahse which never happened. I called and they said they won't give me back my money and it was a promo. How is it that my money was a promo. If they have 1 million customer and they steal $10 from each customer on top of all the extra fees that they cahrge then they are making $10,000,000 just by pretending that it was a mistake. The propblem is that they don'tfix the mistake when you report it.
It happened again. An order I place two days ago confirmed for delivery today was canceled after it had been shopped. No reason given. Happens periodically.
Ordered from them because of coronavirus, but never again! Sam's club order of what would have normally cost me $228 dollars Instacart adds on fees and up-charges totaling $70 dollars. That's total crap, what a rip off. Taking advantage of people that are high risk. Greedy, Greedy, Greedy!
Aside from all the replacements of items that you know are always in the store, Instacart's pricing policy is for people who don't mind having others light their money on fire. I've used the service twice. My first Instacart order was last week and it was delivered with the Market Basket store receipt. The prices I was charged were actual store prices as I know them. Today's order came with no store receipt and was rife with up-charges. For example, a 6 count box of Bubba Burgers costs $11.99 in store. I called to confirm. Instacart charged me $20.79, a whopping 74% mark-up! A single package of fresh mozzarella is around $4. It was replaced with two smaller packages (combined they were 33% smaller than one package at the regular size) and I was charged $9.79. That is over a 100% mark-up! And there were others. I called Instacart to complain but their customer service people talk in circles and babble about their pricing policy to the point where you just hang up and swear to never use them again. My advice is to risk whatever virus is out there and shop yourself. The aggravation alone from Instacart will give you a coronary. It's just not worth it!
Store groceries $45 total charge $61. $16 x 52 weeks = $832! I'll shop myself thank you! The delivery person was outstanding my wife and I got everything we ordered, but we would have sacrifice over $800 a year on something, Maybe food, maybe heat. We're 73 and 77 my SS $185 a month wife's is $457. We will find a better way!
Used instacart for $364 worth of groceries, default card used didnt have enough money on there so instacart declined the card, BUT CHARGED ME 185. Used a 2nd card, but didnt have enough for the up charge, and they declined the purchase again, and then charged that card 185. We ended up using another card to purchase the groceries. Been waiting a few days as both the 185 was saying pending. But today it posted... so not only did i buy 365 worth of groceries with them they also took $370 out of my accounts... and not to mention the upcahrge. I would never ever shop with them nor recommend anyone to shop with them
I placed a order for only one kind of Ice Coffee. I have barely any tastebuds from radiation and Chemotherapy to my throat, Stage 4. I put do not replace in instructions for shopper and in delivery with my information to get in my apartment complex. I put cancel order if you don't have it. She shows up with all replaced. She brought Vanilla a very weak flavor. I contacted Instacart they seen if she got in she read no replacement. I can't talk my voice box is gone which I put in there also. I go to use my credits today and I will post the screenshot she just stopped typing as you will see. Then a lady actually stayed on to help. Only to tell me I didn't use my credit fast enough. They don't tell you that. Horrible experience I feel robbed twice. Customer beware!
I purchased $353.83 of merchandise from Costco. By the time Instacart added all their fees ($133.20), the bill totaled $487.03. I called and asked for a breakdown. The employee was reluctant to give me the info. Finally she gave me $80.00 for a markup; $15.00 for Taxes; $8.26 for a Service Fee; $21.73 Tip. The breakdown doesn't total $133.20. That is a 37.64% Markup. I finally gave up and cancelled the monthly membership.
I have had numerous problems with replacement costs on meat. Over the time I have had as a customer. From what I can tell your pricing is adjusted on replacement meat cost based on unit price that the stores give you. However that is part of the problem. The costs of the meat on the packages is not accurate with what you add up as unit prices. A perfect example is yesterday on 4/27 the shopper had taken a picture of the replacement pkg of meat with the correct price and sent it for my authorization and I approved the replacement meat however upon receiving the actual payment cost in my email. From instacart it was more than what it actually was. And after I called i was given a refund along with a 5.00 thank you for being a customer. Today on 4/28 I also placed an order and after calling after it happened again. With replacement meat. The total of the cost I received was 1.75 difference. Which is again not a huge amount of money I understand. I was refunded
My issue however is if you cheat all your customers like this it really adds up. I am really disappointed that you can't somehow fix this issue
DEBORAH my shopper did an awesome job with the few substitutions she had to do otherwise she was on target. After reviewing my receipt everything was accounted for. I am most appreciative of her. What bothered me was that the delivery person was neither wearing a mask or gloves. In this time this should be mandatory,,, He left items at door as requested but ALL DELIVERY PERSONNEL SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR.
The $35 minimum order is for them only. They know lysol is out of stock, and then charge me a full delivery fee tip, and admin fee. A 15 dollar item turns into a $ 31 dollar charge. I will file a complaint.
This is the most horrible company in the world. Ordered groceries and left specific instructions. And the driver took the groceries back and I was charged $15 for the most horrible service, and they cancelled my order. PLEASE DO NOT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS PEOPLE OR APP, INSTACART. HORRIBLE HORROR SERVICE.
Price gauging like there is no tomorrow. On top of the gauging they have rediciulous service fee and they actually dictate the tips as well. They need to be reported to the BBB
I ordered a home grocery delivery from Aldi in Griffin, GA. Of the 26 items ordered, 8 were fulfilled incorrectly or included discrepancies. Among the discrepancies, 5 substitutions without my permission, incorrectly charging me for 3 items when one was delivered, was charged for a gallon of milk but delivered a half gallon, prices were higher than the actual store price, and there was no receipt provided when the delivery arrived. There was a charge for bagging, service, delivery, and a tip on the bill. I figure in total I paid over $110 for about $75 in groceries. In addition, the delivery vehicle leaked a puddle of oil in my driveway which is 12" x 6." The cost of trying to get the oil out has already exceeded $20 in materials and there is still a stain on the driveway. I could not be more disappointed in the quality of this service.
I've tried Instacart twice. The first time the shopper did a great job. The second time it appears that the shopper did as quick a grab and go as possible. The green beans were obviously past their prime if she had looked at the package. Other produce was not what I'm used to at Aldi. It takes a few seconds to look at produce to see if its in good shape or on it's last days. #1 great job five stars # 2 fair to poor job two stars. I'll try again and if I get the #2 results I'll brave the store with my mask and junk Instacart
I am a senior and broke my ankle two days ago so I thought I would try this service until my ankle heals a bit.
Half the order was incorrect and never given credit for first time user.
Waste of time and money. Live and learn. Never again.
I screwed up the first time when I went to do a pick up and no one was able to come out to me. Had to bring my young daughter inside along with my special needs son to hunt down the shopper to get my groceries.
2nd time, placed an order the day before to be received the next day. Was told the order was delivered and never received the groceries. No response to emails and phone lines weren't working due to high demand. Finally got someone on the phone and ended up getting refunded.
Already gave a 2nd chance. Won't ever use again.
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
