I placed an order but instead of it being delivered in two hours it took four days. (Granted, having groceries with very few rotted items being delivered to my door was certainly novel.) The promised time was updated by two hours or so every couple of hours (without giving a notification), Example: It will be delivered between 11:00-1:00 but nothing, but then the website updated the time from 1:00-3:00. For four EFFING days. What a waste of my time. That said, customer service was really trying to help, but they could only throw credits for next time at me. With $60 in credit I stupidly tried again. Five days of frustration, no groceries. Meanwhile I get daily emails from them wanting me to do more business with them. I gave up, I canceled the order, I had to go away for four days. It didn't cancel though. Unbeknownst to me, the whole time they keep promising to deliver in two hours every two hours. Dumbest system ever. I didn't know they kept it up until I got back. I was finally notified that THEY canceled my order. No reason was given. This sub-level of service boggles the mind. Instacart has provided the worst service I have every experienced in anything. It's a complete time sink. I will never get those days back.
Nothing was wrong with the person who pulled the order Genny, the problem is with Instacart. I was given a $100 Instacart Gift Card and my total came to $99.99, which according to the itemized total included EVERYTHING, But it showed a balance of $8.98 that no one at Instacart could explain what this was for and i could not place my order unless I paid this fee. Also, good luck trying to find a Customer Service number.
When you are done, Instacart will not allow you to post your review in there website, the All Done button is not active.
What they don't tell you is that if you do not use their service for a period of time they charge you $99
'subscription fee". What a rip off!
Money was refunded but never did get groceries. Lots of wasted time. Switched to Whole Foods (Amazon) and now getting deliveries to my door.
Never got everything I ordered. Not sure why this company is still live. Google shopping express used to be so much better.
Instacart has decided to shop at the grocery store of their choosing rather than where I requested. I do not shop at that location for a reason. End of membership ensued.
Shoppers are late more often than not. The NEVER ONCE have used a cooler or other method to keep perishables fresh. Frozen fish has come completely thawed out and ice cream consistently melted all over my groceries. I've had to stop buying anything truly perishable. Four times I've asked a supervisor to call me to discuss the problems and I've never had a return call. Supervisors more than once promised me the shopper would shop at the store only two blocks from me but they consistently go to a different store anyway. They have now confirmed that they lied each time they assured me of that. I probably take three times as much time to get groceries delivered than if I had just gone to the store. The shoppers are clearly taken advantage of.
Even though most are friendly and try to be helpful, the company ties their hands. Unfortunately, I may be stuck with Instacart until the pandemic is over. I can't wait to go back to the store myself.
Placed an instacart order for Wegman's and encountered multiple problems. For one, 6 out of the 20 items ordered were replaced with different products all of which were NOT comparable. The most bothersome was the order for turkey sausage was replaced with "italian sausage" made with pork. Another product was for chicken thighs which I requested the bulk pack that was significantly cheaper than buying the smaller packs, but was instead given two of the smaller packs and charged the higher price. Also requested a bulk pack of 6 peppers but it was replaced with only a 3 pack and charged the more costly price. The shopper/instacart also believes sweet potato wraps are comparable to wraps made with rice flour. Whatever, not as a big a deal as replacing turkey with pork. Organic chicken stock was also replaced with regular chicken stock and charged a higher price. The only replacement I was ok with was for corn tortillas. However, they also charged me a higher price than the one I had requested. Another problem was Wegmans also listed bags of cole slaw as 2 for $3.49 but was given only 1 for $3.49. That is either very deceptive selling/pricing or a glaring mistake that instacart makes impossible to have corrected. All these problems could be forgiven if the prices were fair. However, not only do they markup a significant portion to pay for "someone else shop", but they also charge an additional service fee AND delivery fee AND additional tips for the delivery driver. The store receipt had a final price of $99 but my order total paid to instacart was $138. With a 40% markup, I expect my order to be correct with zero disappointment in the order I placed. Needless to say, I will not be using instacart again in the future unless significant improvements are made and all the problems are addressed. I will also be recommending everyone avoid instacart due to these problems I experienced.
I just signed up and their stupid $#*! chat system is so bad. There's something wrong with their app and now two orders in a row I had to abandon because of app issues yet when I reached out to their customer service dept they're stupid! And they disconnect the chat when I'm right in the middle trying to resolve the technical issue WTF is that about. There's easier ways to make money way too stressful!
Just gets worse by the month. Two incorrect orders today, and that's just today! Unacceptable company.
Has increasingly gotten worse over the last three years, I'm constantly on the phone with Instacart every week. They absolutely do not care. Today, I ordered from Albertsons and Sprouts, different items, of course. Both orders today were wrong.
The first, I asked for 10lbs of meat to be wrapped in 2lb increments. Just like I do every single week. The recipe calls for exactly 2lbs of ground beef, and it's easy for the butcher to weigh and package it. I got two 5 lb slabs of meat. Not helpful. I had to buy a food scale in order to be able to divide it into 2 lb increments.
Second order, I asked for one FULL bunch of bananas and three ORGANIC avocados. I got one single measly banana and three regular avocados, in which I have to go back tomorrow and exchange.
Seriously. Every single month it just gets worse. I've had it. I'm pulling my membership and will just go out and do my own shopping. This is unacceptable. Absolutely no excuse for continually horrible service.
Mistakenly given to me by the delivery person. That cost me $43 extra for a little convenience. $6.21 for tip. $9 delivery fee. $6.21 service fee. $6.64 tax plus a 20% increase in the price of all items. Take my advice: Shop for yourself if money is an object! It will cost you around 33% more to use instacart.
I have many problems with rhis company, sometime they don't deliver your stuff to the right place, they misse groceries, and bring Vegetables and fruit rotten eventhought you have put in the specification fresh vegetables and fruits. It is a waist of time and money.
Super excited for a Costco order - including a roast chicken for dinner. Confirmed deliver for Friday. Shows up late on Saturday... and no chicken. Would have been a lot easier to just go to the store! The driver was very nice... it's less about the people (customer service people were nice, but couldn't do anything) and more about the failure of the app, the inconvenience and disrespect of people's time, and the unwillingness to take any real responsibility or compensate for the disaster.
I can just say, stay away from this app. They charged me more than the actual order. You should always be online during the time the shopper is shopping, so it takes you about 1 hour, otherwise, you will get a totally different order. I ordered a 3 pack liquid wash, but they bought 1 pack and did not refund. AVOID THEM, OR YOU WILL GET HEADACHE.
I am moving to Seattle. I placed a large order with instacart to stock my pantry and bar. The order went through. Five minutes later I received notice that my order was cancelled. I din't cancel the order. My credit card has plenty of unused credit (enough to place 100 order of this size). What do I do. I call support to find out what the problem is. They tell me they are not authorized to discuss the problem with me. WHAT PROBLEM? The great thing is I can place most of these order direct with the stores who will ship them themselves. A little more work but less BS. If a Manager or vp wished to reach out to me I left word with tech support but for now: hey you know good times don't last for ever in any business :)
The people never follow detailed instructions. Orders always come wrong.
It's worth it to have a friend go or put on a mask and go yourself if possible.
They charged a total of $61 for a $142 order (if you include the tip). I ordered from Costco and had it delivered. It showed costco products with prices, like you were on the costco site. It showed you fees for delivery at the end $9.99 (all the while saying free delivery while you shopped). Then it had another fee $8.99 Sevice fee and a tip Fee (which you could pick) and taxes. The total was $204.00. They charged my charge $235 after showing me a total of $204. When my food was delivered there was a Costco receipt for $142.00. No Instacart receipt. Tried to contact them, but due to high volume no one could help on line. I emailed I had a problem. They never contacted me. I was able to chat and complain the next day. They said if i had read all there information I would have learned that they charge you more then Costco, but it doesn't tell how much more. And nowhere does it tell you this when your on what looks like Costco's website and are ordering. They list The other surcharges at the end, but never tell you about the inflated prices. After overcharging you for every item you buy, they add an extra $30 to your charge without telling you (Whole Foods lets you when you are ordering) just in case. Still no word from them. We need to ban together to file a class action suit for deceptive practices. Very frustrated!
If someone was trying to steal money from your pocket you would be upset and there would be criminals charges. Instacart is a well groomed thief. Save your money. There is no convenience to this service. No where do they tell you that instacat sets the tips and then there is a service charge on top of the tip and dont forget the annual subscription they charge. At the rate i am paying i can get a person and pay minimum wage and still not be gouged they way instatcart steals. And what is with not being charged for items on sale.
Instacart charged me twice for a same day Target order. I asked for the erroneous payment back and they told me they would give me a credit. I told Instacart I did not want a credit only a refund. I was then told to contact the retailer. Target said they can't refund the order since it was placed through the Instacart website. Avoid this business.
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
