Use instacart to order groceries out of state for my parents. The shopper/deliver Tommy was great. However when going through the list of items we realized a small item was left out and that prices on items and paid prices were different. Called in and got Jason. He was rude, unprofessional and confrontational from the beginning. He overtalked me and continuously put me on hold. I explained that he was being rude overall and which point he responded "are you kidding me" and "I'm out of here" before hanging up. Called back in and got a agency that apologize and explained that Wegmans is a store that up charges items so instead paying the $3.73 on the label of meat I paid $4.25... not the best experience towards the end although they did apologize and offered to redeliver the forgotten about item. Won't be using again however my order came up to 49.73 and I ended up paying 69.23. Almost $20 in fees- I'll pass!
Every time they call to ask questions. I just want to place order & receive what I order! Orders always wrong & frozen food is never even kept cold! Also automatically inserts service fee that you cannot remove on app. Ill stick with peapod!
Just because you create a list doesn't mean the store have it. Yoi can pick your own alternatives or request a refund. Ppl tend to forget that it's not a computer shopping but a actual person. That you can chat with. Ppl ALWAYS want others to have empathy/understand/reasonable with then but NEVER with others
The days we live in
I have tried instacart twice, they will swap out lower price items for the higher price. I called customer service and was told because my local Kroger store may have the item doesn't mean they can sell it to customer due to the contract they have with the store.
This service is GARBAGE!
Charged me 149$ for member pricing that I DID NOT TAKE. Email replies are so slow. I did a fraud case on them and they promised to refund the money if fraud case was withdrawn. Withdrew the case and haven't seen my money since. DO NOT GET ON IT.
Where can I edit my information? I need to put the correct name as it appears on my ss card. It is not updated on my license and I've moved.

They pull 149 out my bank account without my consent. Lie to me about giving me refund. I got stuck at work because of them they even overdraw my account. I am up to $200 and overdrawn. Because them. Don't trust these people don't use them their thieves.
My first order was great! Then the ridiculous substitutions on the next orders. For example, if I order a pound of something because of the better price, they will substitute 2 8 oz packages that cost much more. I just tried one more delivery today. Still below par. I have worked on customer service for years and I am appalled that the lack of service they offer.
I used this service once during Hurricane Irma at Publix. All items were out of stock so I cancelled the order ($25.00). I look at my card later and they charged my credit card anyway.
Two weeks later I see a charge for $149.00 on the same card from Instacart San Francisco and I have not used that service, only one time.
Either they are thieves or they have a horrible security set up. Someone charged my card for groceries and they just let it go through.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE> Once they get a hold of your CC # you are in trouble
When I got back from taking care of my dying grandmother I was too emotionally exhausted to go to the supermarket, so I turned to Instacart. I had heard great things and had a pretty good experience since I began using it a year ago. However, over the last month/month & a half, things have rapidly started going downhill. Items are replaced when I requested them to be refunded, items are missing that I was charged for, and items I requested mysteriously disappear from the order after it is placed. I tried to be forgiving--things happen and Instacart is so convenient, but with these problems repeating themselves order after order I'm not sure how much longer I am willing to stand for it.
I have used this company 2 prior, inconsistent and don't deliver in an hour. They charge to much and won't last if they can not keep up with the demand. I went to place my order at 7:40 pm told me I have to wait till 10am next day. Why wouldn't I just use Amazon fresh than?! You aren't going to get my business again!
Awful, horrible, and totally ridiculous! Buyer beware. You have been warned. Instacart in theory is a great idea. However, to put it bluntly, they do not have the ability to execute it, which is a shame. If you are looking for a pleasant hassle-free delivery experience, then you just might want to keep looking and try another delivery service. Instacart is not the company for you!
I had so many swapped items and never got what I wanted! There is no point in paying for food that you didn't want! Try Amazon Fresh there is no bait and switch!
I used to love ordering from Instacart back in the day when they were still a new, eager, bright-eyed company willing to work hard to prove itself and delivered your groceries in nice reusable canvas bags. Years later after being an avid user/member, I've become increasingly disappointed with how the company's been changing and have slowly been shifting to other services.
Since they split up drivers/shoppers, it's been even worse! It's evident when shoppers are careless or just being incredibly lazy (come on, you have ONE job, so please do it correctly), and I've had to digitally (via chat) direct them to where the item is in the store that they initially marked as "out of stock" only to be found via my directions (aka LOOK HARDER). Other times, they would substitute in items when I requested a refund, or choose produce that have obviously gone bad. Nowadays, I'm more shocked when an order actually comes in mistake-free. Most of the time, I need to get credit for all the items they got wrong (the redeliver option is a JOKE if you need an item that moment you requested the groceries - you'll most likely get it the next day). Oh former instacart, where have you gone?
I thought it was strange that they swapped one dish soap brand I chose (at Costco) for another, the other being twice the price. The dish soap I chose was NOT out of stock at Costco. Lots of other comments say something similar - that more expensive items were swapped w/o reason. I hadn't heard of Instacart... was given a gift certificate which I used to get cleaning, personal, pet, and paper goods. I prefer to get my own food items. Instacart can be convenient to use on occasion - if you have a broken arm/leg or the flu. I wouldn't write them off completely, but (in my opinion) it's not cost effective for the average person who can drive to the store and do their own grocery shopping. The only thing saved is time.
Instacart does NOT have its act together. You don't get one single delivery, but as many as five separate deliveries if that's the total number of stores you ordered from. Very inconvenient. Book keeping is screwy. They put a hold on your account in the form of an actual deduction, and in my case, a refund was not made requiring numerous calls to my bank and Instacart to get things straightened out. Frozen items were insufficiently cooled and insulated and were delivered in ordinary grocery bags. Going back to AmazonFresh.
I ordered for the first time at Instacart. The main reason was an item which was out of stock in the supermarket near my place. They just replaced this item by s.th. Which is completely different and much more expensive. Never again!
They are a startup who already could care less about their employees. The pay set is an insult to the drivers. The Star rating is set up to make drivers fail. The price mark up for groceries is so high that customers THINK that the drivers are making WAY more than they are. It takes 43 hours a week most of the time to clear $9 an hour after gas, insurance, and maintenance of your car. They ALWAYS side with the customer even when the customer is breaking the law, or putting the driver in danger. Impossible to move from driver up the company... so low ceiling. Unreasonable expectations regarding routes, and times.
I spend thousands of dollars on Instacart a year. Twice in the last 3 months they've accused me of fraud, basically implying that I am trying to steal food, and put a 48 hour min hold on my account demanding that I resubmit my I.D. and credit card. What? These people are crazy. Fyi to Instacart: Black families/Minority families have money and can afford to eat well without struggling to get grocery bags in and out of the house, stop trying to put a blockade on our health. The discrimanatory practices are so evident, if my name was Becky Weinstein and I was spending such an exorbitant amount on food there would be no conversation. I know this because when I was married to a non minority Instacart gave me no issues. I am tired of big companies denegrading certain groups of people, and making it difficult for them to get ahead in life. If you have the option, shop elsewhere.
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
