Wow! Had I gone to the store I would have saved $67. I was robbed by this company and I'm shocked they're allowed to have almost 40% upcharge at costco. Next time I will go shop one order is Not wortha $67 charge. I'm still in shock a company is allowed to exist. It's complete fraud and deception and prices are extremely higher than in store. Karma! This company must suffer for robbing from customers to pad pockets in san Francisco truly disgusting! Can't wait for its demise! Ask for the actual store receipt on your next order and you too will feel robbed and sick over what they charge.
As a shopper, I'm quite satisfied with how everything works. Keep in mind, this is a meant-to-be SIDE JOB as an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR. Though Instacart does what they can, they have very little control over the quality of customer service each driver provides. I found that dressing professionally, consistently staying in contact with each customer, and treating the customer with care and respect goes a long way in terms of how much money you'll make. I was surprised to see a majority of customers complaining about the downright awful customer service, considering half of your paycheck is tips. It's simply a waste of gas and time if you aren't going to put any effort in.
The Bamko Brand insulted gas I got from the Instashopper App were an incredibly good deal. Couldn't even find a better deal after searching through Walmart, Kroger, and ALDI. Plus I've found many other uses for them, so the money was well spent.
To customers: don't give up hope yet, there ARE good delivery drivers out there who want to provide excellent customer service and treat you like you deserve to be treated. And don't blame Instacart! They're doing the best they can. The extra fee you're paying is SUPPOSED to be for the convenience and service delivery drivers provide. I'm extremely disapointed to see so many customers struggling just to get decent customer care. DRIVERS it's YOUR responsibility to provide excellent customer service as an Independent Contractor. All of the responsibility falls on you. If you aren't going to care about the job one bit, do the rest of us a favor - the ones who actually go above and beyond for their customers - go get a job where they don't care about the quality of service. You're doing nothing but wasting your gas money and making the rest of us look bad.
I wrote a review how they charged my credit card $149.00 they said they would refund if I took off fraud from my credit card.
Never received my $149.00!
Now a year later they just charged another credit card that was on my Applepay
$149.00 again, without my permission!
I think this is the worse company because they commit fraud!
I am going to contact the attorney general.
I lost my home in a fire and now getting scammed by Instacart for the second time!
I am ready to contact attor general.
They said if I took fraud charge away they would give vet me credit. I took it away and they did not credit my account. They know how to trick you, now that I took it away and they didn't give me credit I can't say it was fraud. They have my $149.00 and won't let me place an order. Acted in bad faith, they should be sued.
Also never allowed to speak with a live person, only email and from all different people with different answers. They committed fraud!
Prices are ridiculously higher than the store, plus service fee, delivery fee and tip we paid $150 for an order that should have been $75
A complete misleading rip off, price gouging do not use Instacart!
On the picture you see the fish in the store is $19.69 Instacart charged us $24.07 for this fish.
Greedy disgusting company!
I got everything I ordered, prices were the same as if I shopped in store, eta was in the range stated, and I got to do my once in a while treat with this. It was great and the person was friendly.
Yummy.com does not deliver by USC
1ST & LAST Time I work for them.
Maybe New York or LA their tipping $5+ TOTAL
Anywhere else people THINK Delivery is FREE, bc they have a membership.
It took 3 weeks to get ANY hours and when I did finally did get a chance to sign up, I took as many hours as I could bc I believe MOST of the hours are NOT REAL. During this 1st order it kept interrupting the order to do demo fruit picking etc., It added produce the customer didn't want. It turned 1 chicken into 6, found that out when I delivered, APP wouldn't move forward, INSTACART CARD declined. Had to wait on customer service to fix, while I'm holding up other shoppers... Then there was NO way to show delivery, called customer service again... it was at LEAST 30 mins later that they said they showed it as delivered, but my APP just showed a blank screen!
I could go on, but let's just say I wasted my TIME, GAS $, DATA, etc and won't even get paid Minimum WAGE.
Don't bother, this is Worse than Collecting Aluminum Cans. I just recycle mine, bc it's NOT worth the gas $$.
You are basically paying Instacart to work and that's before the try to sell you the insulated bags.
They got my produce order wrong (reversing the bananas and peaches), overcharged me as a result, then offered me a store credit but no refund on my credit card. Also, in addition to the $9.99 delivery fee and $2 minimum tip, which were disclosed, they added a $2 'service fee' which was never disclosed. Customer service is handled by unfriendly emails only - no phone calls or chat. Aside from those things, the actual delivery process was fine, which is why they earned two stars rather than one.
At 1st it's a good job with hours to be had and flexablitiy. Then issues pop up for which contacting customer service is a joke. The ONLY time you can get in touch with their customer service is IF you are currently working! After then, you can email your issue/problem, but ALL they do is send you the SAME email message with NO SOLUTION!
This company does Not treat it's shoppers/driver good.
99% of my issues were getting it delivered! It was always at least 5 hours or so late. Most of the time they didn't have drivers. They would have to reschedule the next day. They would leave items out. One time a driver left products scattered on the porch... not in any bags or boxes! It's not instacart but latercart cause you never know when it'll come!
You get to pick your store, see your store's prices, select and click purchase and even see what your store would have charged you if you had gotten off your lazy $#*! and just gone shopping yourself.
Then they take that list to one of their "retail partners," and charge you their prices with an additional mark up. So you pay $149 annually to pay 35% more for your groceries.
It's a scam. Don't use them.
Studying for a big exam so I tried to save some time with Ralph's Instacart. Bottom line: I will still need to go into the store to pick up items that were apparently "out of stock" according to my "Instacart Shopper". These are simple necessities that I know is available at my local grocery store that I get week in and week out. Super annoying! 2/3 if my items were either replaced or "out of stock" and some of the replacements weren't even comparable! LASTLY, I bought two containers of eggs of 18-count and they are expiring in TWO DAYS! Again, annoying and super thoughtless of my "Instacart Shopper"! Never will be using again and definitely don't recommend. This has been more of a pain than it was helpful by any means!
So in a frantic Sunday at 4 in the evening I thought this might be a great idea. I was so wrong! Not only did my "personal shopper" start at the wrong time, most of the items were out of stock, really? Shelves never seem bare in our local Safeway. Her reply when she showed up 2 hours late was the website was showing Albertsons prices. I thought it was ok only getting 1/2 of the things I ordered but somehow my $77.00 grocery bill is now $92.00! The customer service is a scam to She actually told me that they do not honor the stores prices and have to charge the web sites charges? I mean really and the difference will go to both instacart and Safeway. Buyer Beware. Do not use this service!
Terrible idea. Now alcoholics don't even need to leave their home to get liquor... way to support an addiction
I had my order set for today at 7.7 came & went, I checked my account online & my order had been moved to 8:30. I was pretty annoyed that I wasn't contacted- no email or text- NOTHING. So it's 8:45, still nothing & I call Instacart. All they said was if there isn't enough shoppers in the area that orders get bumped. Uhhhh thanks a lot for telling me! Then- don't worry I'll get my money back that bought nothing in 3-5 days. What a crock of $#*!. I CANCELLED INSTACART & will try to leave every bad review I can as well as tell everyone I know what a $#*!ty company they are! Get your $#*! together for Christ's sake!
They charged me so much more for my groceries than if I went to the store.
Never again. I should have paid 50 dollars I ended up paying $110 dollars for fruits and vegetables. They charged me for unit. Ridiculous. Don't wast your time and money. Horrible experience
Realized with last order how little they pay their shoppers/drivers and how there are no benefits, no reimbursements for gas / wear & tear on their vehicle, etc. Probably best not to use this 'service'... as they are predatory and just out to use their lower level employees paying way less than minimum wage!
I've ordered from Safeway 2x with instacart delivery and the bill from Safeway was So High OMG - for so little food that next time I'll go back to Winco :( And I'll go back to Eureka Delivery Service which isn't perfect but at least Christo (shopper / deliverer) gets paid directly from customers. Also with instacart you don't pay the stores price at all... they say free but instead I paid $9.80 for $6.38 worth of sushi!
I'd rather support Christo and E. D. S. Than this mega-national chain company who eats up and throws away their ppl without a thought.
Due to an injury, I had to have my groceries delivered and when contacting Safeway the told me they contract out with Instacart. When I got my receipt it was for 259.00 from Safeway. Instacart charged my bank 45.00 more than what the receipt said. I went item by item and in some cases, Instacarts mark-up was 100%. By the time I paid the service fee at 15.04, the tip 15.04 and the 45.00 mark-up, it cost me 75 dollars to have my groceries delivered. In their fine print is says that Safeway charges may be more through Instacart, no gas credit, no coupons, no club card is allowed. Beware! They basically are ripping off those who use them. Really, 75.00 to have groceries delivered?
Said authorization $35.00 will drop off, has not 1 week later. Received wrong product they offered an $11 credit off next order, big deal not using them again. To top it off customer service stopped responding.
I am new to Instacart but overall am very satisfied. I called Instacart and gave them my loyalty card number so I am able to get the store sale price. It is a learning experience. I try to write specific instructions so the shopper will know exactly what I want and what not to substitute, if any. I have had a few mistakes but have always found Instacart customer service to be fair in adjusting for the mistakes. It has it's issues as far as finding exactly what you want but have found that it can save me some money because I am not picking up extras that I don't need. I have limited mobility and overall have found Instacart delivery to be a blessing.

Instacart does not charge the actual price that for any item at the store you are purchasing from. I just paid $6 extra just for some meat and I don't even know what the actual prices are at Costco now. You think that you are getting the store's prices, but you do not.
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
