They have stolen my deposit as well and refused me my $635 refund after I canceled my contract because one of their supervisors George told me and my uncle to " GO F**K YOURSELVES" and then hung up. I have read over 100 complaints about this company between BBB, movingme.com, yelp and this site. Im so sick of this parasite sucking the life out of honest hardworking people. I was rushed and mislead by independence van lines. They wont admit they are a broker, give you estimates that are half of what your charges. Also use the worst mover to do the work. I cannot get my items after 40 days still no sign of getting anything. I feel like i paid someone to steal everything I own.

Just google them and see the track record. Integrity is their last concern. Being late or lying about the services provided? No problem with them. They will always find a reason to no be responsible floor the service they offer. Stacy, Holly, Ted and James the manager will always pass the buck about doing the right thing every time. Order a Pos from Uhaul and so it yourself. Cheaper and easier every single time.

I would absolutely NOT recommend working with Independence Van Lines for your moving needs. I have moved a number of times, but this was by far my worst experience. Independence VL is a broker and unfortunately won't take responsibility for abusive and unprofessional practices of the moving companies they work with.

I scheduled my move from Los Angeles to Chicago through Independence VL and was asked for an initial deposit based on an estimated volume. Having previous experience with moves and wanting to avoid stress and additional fees the day of my move, a week before my move I provided an updated inventory list. We recalculated volume and I provided an additional deposit per their request. The day of my move, a company called Map Express Logistics showed up and told me the volume calculations were wrong and I had an additional 536 c. F.! (DOUBLE the volume on my original estimate) and they needed $4,000 more to proceed with the move.

I decided to cancel my move and lost the $2,387 deposit I had already paid to Independence VL.

For reference, I ended up hiring a different moving company which at pick up calculated an additional 80 c. F. and charged $300 extra from the quote they had given me. Nowhere near the additional 536 c. F. and $4,000 this company wanted to overcharge.

Stay away from Independence Van Lines and their partners. Moving companies have always been known for shady practices and their partner relationships are a grey area. Go with a moving company that owns their own equipment and charges a fixed deposit at the time of booking.

We had an extremely big move from Florida to new york. The team came on time, wrapped and boxed all my belongings with proper care and loaded on the truck without a hitch. They completed the move before the schedule and I decided to check the inventory by myself. It was great to see all my belongings arrived in one piece and without any damage. I am really impressed with their wonderful service and competitive price. Thank you for making my move stress free and easy.

Guess I'm just adding to the list. Run the other way. Absolutely horrible. Do not give these people your money. They are all smiles and great customer service while they are taking your money and then horrific afterwards. I have tried to cancel my move every way I can imagine. They refuse and have stopped responding. DEPOSITS FOR MOVES ARE NOT NORMAL. Of course, I know that now. I hope this helps somebody somehow.
I have attempted to get their arbitration paperwork from them and they refuse. Turns out they aren't registered with the AAA® (American Arbitration Association®) or the ICDR either.
Additionally they aren't registered with any of the moving insurance brokers either. Absolute mess. I feel like they completely stole my money.

Please, please DO NOT USE this company. I can't tell you enough how horrible they are. They are liars, a complete scam and everything they tell you on the phone is a complete lie. Don't think they are an option because they are nice on the phone or their cost is affordable. ALL LIES.

I got a call from a guy called Bob West which was super helpful, he was telling me how lucky I was because he had a truck going from Denver to Boston on that specific day I needed the move to happen. I asked about storage and he said he would give me 2 months free storage and the long carry fee could be just $50. ALL LIES! I made a deposit to them of $1.185.50 and I was expecting them the next day.

I had a specific day that I needed the move to happen because I was travelling after, I asked several times if he could confirm me the move on that day and he said "Of course, just wait for our call between 1pm to 3pm and the team will be there to pick up your stuff". ALL LIES! They called me on the pick up day, saying the move was the day after, they were not present when Bob West gave me the 2 months free storage and long carry fee so they couldn't do it. Also, there was never a truck in Denver going to Boston. They never appeared on that day, they tried to book the next day for the move to happen and I asked a friend to open the door for me as I was not in the country anymore. When I tried to forward the quote to my friend, the quote was gone and it said "Congratulations on your move on 11/6. Any questions contact customer service". THE MOVE NEVER HAPPENED and they ARE REFUSING TO GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM.

I admit I am a total novice about moving companies and I got taken to the max by Independence Van lines- These guys are brokers- not movers like they advertise. They sold out my move to the lowest, most unethical, sleeziest people- not licensed and I didn't realize or know about it until the furniture was on the truck. Independence never informed me of the people they sold my furniture to- so I couldn't do any research on my own (even if I knew what to look for) and then INDEPEDENCE totally washed their hands of the whole deal and were no help at all! In fact, at the end when I was desperately reaching out to them to help get the furniture back from the subcontractor, INDEPENDENCE sold us out to- I made almost daily calls to both companies- Ray made a call to the other movers and called me with this little tidbit- Ray- "I have good news and bad news" Me: "I haven't had any good news" Ray: "The good news is that your stuff is in Oregon, the bad news is that it is in a lake." Hearty guffaw on Ray's part- How is that for service. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY WHAT SO EVER!

We have probably moved five times in ten years. Sometimes we had better experiences than others. But the best by Independence Van Lines. They moved us from Miami to Washington and what can be an stressful filled event was actually pleasurable. They are extremely professional, very careful and thoughtful, and they are also lovely kind people. Nothing was broken or damaged. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

The coordinator was straightforward and really helpful.He had enough patience to answer all my questions.The movers were responsible and really professional, Came on time and did everything with much care. Packing and unpacking went smoothly and they kept their schedule. Excellent service and no damage to my belongings. Would definitely recommend them.

Independence did an awesome job on my move. They were by far the most efficient, hardworking, and courteous guys i ever met. All my furniture arrived completely unscathed. They didn't waste any time and got to work right away. My parents are going to move shortly and I won't think twice to call them!

I called to see about my moving. My call was answered immediately, she was professional and friendly and understood my needs. The move was scheduled and the movers were on-time and worked quickly to help me keep costs down. Everything was moved safely. I'll always recommend and use this company!
