Indeed has a rating of 1.5 stars from 978 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Indeed most frequently mention customer service, small business and employer account. Indeed ranks 132nd among Recruiting sites.
I paid for an add on indeed. They suspended my account while I was interviewing candidates. I have been unable to get in touch with anyone about it. All I get is an automatic response saying they can cancel accounts for any reason without explanation. Indeed was full of scams when I was a job seeker, now they are a scam when I'm trying to hire people. My advice is do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
We had a very favorable response recently for two vacancies at our hospital; i was surprised at the response rate and particularly enjoyed some of the applicant tracking features Indeed offers. It's a cost effective and easy to use site that I'd recommend (and have recommended) to others in the HR field.
Hi Dryden, thank you so much for your feedback. We're glad you've had a good experience with Indeed. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help in the future.
My overall experience with Indeed has been absolutely wonderful! I have had a huge selection of qualified candidates apply for my job postings. All resumes' are formatted in an easy to read way and it is very easy to manage the candidates and the posting.
Thanks for your feedback Liz! Glad we could help!
We have had hundreds of applicants but NONE of them with any experience that we are asking for in the ad. Its crazy what are we paying for? 18 /21 year old saying they have 16 years of experience how?
Cashiers, car park attendants, fitness trainers, and many more applying for jobs that require 3-5 years of qualified experience in the field yet we have to pay for each click of what. Indeed has done NOTHING but send us unqualified applicants just a total waste of time money and effort.
Unfortunately, we are not directly involved in the hiring process so we have no control over the quality or quantity of the candidates that apply to your jobs. Please note that Indeed is a self-service product and a budget is chosen when the job is posted by the account holder. In addition, you have the ability to pause or close a job posting at any time. We'd recommend checking out our Help Center articles for employers, there are some great resources that will assist you with all areas of posting a job. https://indeed.force.com/employerSupport1/s/?language=en_US
Logged onto my indeed account today to find my account has been suspended. No explanation other than standards not met but no ad posted recently is any different to earlier ones. Not helpful at all when trying to get a start up iff the ground!
Hi James, thank you for taking the time to leave Indeed a review. We can see that you're currently in contact with our Search Quality team and they have emailed you in regards to your account situation. We advise following up with them to have this situation handled.
I thought it was a scam email which told me Account Disabled as one of the jobs you have posted to Indeed was deemed not consistent with Indeed's quality standards. But no, it was not a scam, I have just tried to post a job and found my account has Indeed been Disabled. I can only assume Indeed are using a faulty algorithm because there is no way my advert fails to meet their quality standards. I have posted around 14 very simple ads on Indeed over the last 3 years all almost identical consisting of just two short sentences. The last job was posted for almost two weeks. Why just after I closed the job am I told my account has been disabled? If there is an issue, why not send me an email to explain the problem. This is a total error by Indeed and reflects very badly on their business model by turning away customers for no valid reason. Also, why have all the contact number for Indeed been disabled. It would be so simple to sort this out if we could speak to someone.
Hi Peter, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. All accounts on Indeed go through random moderation which can trigger an account to get disabled if we need additional information on the business. We can see that your account has been restored and is fully enabled at this time. Please feel free to reach out to us if we can be of any further assistance.
Account has been disabled with no reason. Terrible that people applied for a job I have available and will now not hear back. No investigation and no reason was given but automated emails back saying within 2 seconds of an appeal. How horrible for people to spend time applying for a job and you disable an account for an employer with no reason or a chance to resolve issues.
We are a small business who have already hired one person from indeed in the last few weeks so are very disappointed that we are now going to leave many potential candidates in confusion. Terrible service and lack of response is appalling

While indeed did supply several applicants they often supplied out of area applicants sometimes even ones that were out-of-state it became annoying.
It's better to go through a few qualified applicants then hundreds of disqualified or unavailable because of distance applicants...
Sorry for the negative experience Pat. Our Client Care team would be happy to help with ideas and recommendations to improve your candidate quality from Indeed.
Rather than researching jobs on multiple sites, job-seekers now have a convenient, reliable source for a wide and diverse array of job listings. Although the site could have more detailed filter options, it is a significant time-saver in the job hunt.
They disable your account if you don't pay them to boost your job post. Not a good site anymore. It used to be a great site to post, but now if you refuse to pay, your account is magically now against their terms and you get suspended. Do not waste any money on indeed, they will bully you into submission!
I didn't even get to post a job. They wanted my business origination papers, my phone number. I feel like they took all of my information and ran.
-Hi! We have reached out via private message. Thank you!
I posted a job as an employer and 2 days later the job was taken down any my account was disabled - completely out of the blue! How am I supposed to rely on Indeed to help me find a person for a time sensitive position if I can't trust that my posting will remain live! Who knows how many days they've cost me in my search.
Hello Brooke, we're sorry for the negative experience with Indeed and would like to assist you with the account verification process. Please private message us via SiteJabber or email us at sitejabber@indeed.com from your Indeed account email address and we would be happy to assist. Thank you.
I posted an 220 Insurance Agent position with Indeed and spent well over $300 in less than 1 month as I stopped the service. The majority of the Candidates that were sent to me were not even remotely qualified. As a matter of fact examples of candidates included, Math Teacher, blank resumes, tax prepares, after care workers... All at my expense. Their explanation is that I pay per "click" on my add whether qualified or not. This could mean that they have their own people sitting in the office clicking away while I pay for it. This is a TOTAL SCAM! Do not use indeed if you work hard for the money being used to pay for this service.
Hello Tricia, we're sorry to hear that you've had a negative experience using Indeed to hire for your Insurance Agent position. Indeed offers several different types of budgeting options, and we do also have a budget which allows you to choose a set amount that you'd be comfortable spending. In this situation, it looks like your position was set up on a recurring $10 daily budget, which is why you spent $300 for the month. We charge you for unique clicks on your position, and clicks from Indeed employees or candidates who have previously visited the position are not charged to you with our system. If you are still hiring for this position, we would be happy to offer you a credit towards future sponsored job clicks in the amount of $300. You can use this towards one position, or several if you are trying to fill more than one role. With this, we'd also be happy to offer job description/ job title tips and monitor the position along side of you to ensure that you are seeing qualified applicants. If you'd be interested in this, please feel free to message us via SiteJabber so that we can assist you further. Thank you.
Indeed disabled my account after about a week and two job openings posted with no reason as to why.
We are a small business operating in healthcare, our website was provided to identify ourselves and we still got disabled. I'd say it is the worst service and the worst job posting website I've encountered in my management career. They should just close now.

As many MANY people, my account was suspended without giving me any explanation or feedback, so I tried creating another account, but same result. This is none sense, we are trying to hire for a legitimate position, we are a legitimate company, with a website, physical address, we are real, and we're getting suspended. The craziest thing? Well, we have 3 offices in the city but this new one is the only one having issues with indeed

My employer account was disabled without an explanation whatsoever. I diligently review every application and follow the rules of the site being the HR of our company. The applications is close to 200 for just 1 job post and i reviewed them all. Now I don't have access.
Hi Karen,
A member of our team has reached out to you by private message with details on how you can move forward. If we can assist further please let us know in there.
As an employer who posted a position on the site I was totally dissatisfied. We received no candidate that even remotely matched the job description listed. When I asked to have the account deleted, I was told they will only "deactivate" the account, which essentially continues to store my company information and our credit card details. When I requested to escalate the complaint I was told told to have my lawyer write a letter and was given an address in Austin to do so.
Stay away, there is no integrity here.
THey recycle the same jobs over and over, they scrape jobs from other websites and then turn around to charge employers for jobs you would have seen and applied to for free on their sites in the first place. Never got a job offer or consulting engagement from this site. Utter rubbish! Why do sites like these even stay around?! There should be a mechanism to democratize the internet and we can all vote down useless sites like these!
After years using indeed and spending many thousands of pounds with them our account was disable without any notice. As a small recruitment agency this is incredibly hurtful as it means we can't supply our clients on the timelines agreed and without previous notice for a contingency plan. What is utmost disgusting is that when asking for a reason after several emails and phone calls, all we have been told is that the decision is final (We tried appealing) and that it's because we have been reported for charging employees which is FALSE. We have asked for proof of this and been denied it, this should be unlawful and it is defamation for anyone to accuse a company of something so serious and not provide proof, Indeed should be requesting proof from any people that reports an account before taking any action as you don't know if they are angry candidates taking it out on the recruiters!
Hi Pilar, it is normal that all accounts will be reviewed as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met. In this case, we can confirm that your account is already active and fully verified. For your reference as well, here is more information on how to contact Indeed: https://indeed.force.com/employerSupport1/s/article/207325006?language=en_GB. Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback!
My account was disabled. I've posted (and hired) for the past 3 years past from this account. I appealed the decision, but I still get a generic "we have reviewed your account and have found it to be unsuitable for Indeed" - but no explanation why! I sent a copy of my utility bill to verify my business is legitimate, and still they won't reinstate my account. They simply state to refer to their Terms of Service and Job Posting Guidelines - which does not help me understand what it is I've done "wrong". The last email they sent stated this was a "final decision" and "No additional details regarding this decision will be provided." Say what?

I set up an account to do recruiting for a company I am employed with. I posted 2 ads and hired 3 people from the site. Then I get an email stating our account has been disabled. We sent several documents and after we get a response that says our account is disabled and its a final decision.
I don't know how to speak to anyone that makes these decisions but there are several people using this site and posting work from home scams and they still have an account. We are a legitimate window cleaning company and are hiring for window washers and cannot post ads. It makes no sense.
I am terribly confused as to why this happens to good companies.
Hi Samuel we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We have responded to your review by private message. Feel free to follow up there if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Answer: Hello Anita, positions posted for free stay on Indeed for a total of 120 days. Sponsored positions can stay on the site until an employer has filled the job and closed it on Indeed.

Answer: Hello Gerard, sorry for the negative experience. Indeed recently augmented existing search quality programs with new, ongoing strategies to make sure all jobs on Indeed meet standards for quality. This effort included a large scale review of job listings. Jobs that violated our guidelines and companies that did not meet our quality standards were disabled. We apologize that this was a frustrating process for you and will provide this feedback to our Search Quality team for future improvements.
Answer: By NO MEANS should you pursue this so-called job offer further and in fact, you should report them to the Better Business Bureau.
Answer: Hi Kristina, feel free to email our team at sitejabber@indeed.com with some additional details regarding your concerns and we'd be happy to take a look. Please be sure to reference this interaction in your email. Thank you.
