Indeed has a rating of 1.5 stars from 978 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Indeed most frequently mention customer service, small business and employer account. Indeed ranks 132nd among Recruiting sites.
I have been using the services of indeed many years with mixed success.
Suddenly with no warning the company blocked me from posting and gave a very vague reason. When I called them the customer service agent for an explanation she assured me that not to worry. It was likely just a case that I had a gmail address and they needed information. I was asked to appeal but this was a complete waste of time.
As a small business owner I count on my service providers to be there when I need them. Over the years my ads have brought a lot of traffic to your site and you have been able to sell advertising. Over the years your service is also credited with finding many of your job seekers quality employment.
Stop being a bully!. Holding my account ransom until I produce a credit card is unacceptable.
Indeed.com used to be ok but became a search engine returning only junks, scams and fake job ads.
I have been using this website for a while in my job search because other websites like monster.com are just a big piece of garbage with 90% outdated or false job ads.
Indeed.com used to be ok, but since few years it became exactly the same: a useless job search engine returning mainly scams, junks, false and fraudulent job offers.
How did they end up like that, I don't know.
I won't name names but most adverts on indeed.com come from the same firms and "recruitment agencies", just a tip, often the fake job ads link to website like jobvite.com (well known unsafe data collector and cheap recruitment system), taleo and the like.
The worst job board experience we ever had as a firm. We got hooked into a trial for their job posting service by a slick salesman. The service never produced results and we cancelled within 3 weeks of starting it. Indeed hit our credit card for over $2,300 off of 3 job posts that produced no matches. The 'resume traffic' they sent us was complete junk. When we tried to get our money back we got bounced from supervisor to supervisor with no restitution for the bad service. Your money is better spent staying with CB, Monster, Linkedin and Dice.
I posted bunch of free ads. The job status shows open, and it shows publicly viewable, but when i search on indeed, it doesn't show up. When contacted, they didn't have a good answer, except their so called 1800's quality team won't allow me to post my ads, for no valid reason. They said i can only post paid jobs, which i agreed to, because everyday the jobs are delayed i will be losing an opportunity. Even the paid jobs don't show in the search. They are scam artistic who employ different rule for different companies. They have allowed so many other companies to post free jobs on their site, and many of them use fake company names, but they put so much restriction on valid legal companies. I provided all the documentation they asked for, still waiting...
Hello, sorry for the negative experience with Indeed. We would be happy to review your account. Please email us at socialservice@indeed.com with your Indeed account email address so that we can look into this further. Thank you.
This is the worse company I have dealt with. I lodged a complaint with Mark (will not put surname in). About his rudeness and total disregard for customers. They let you advertise freely and then switch you off! I would have been happy to pay to advertise if Mark had not been so aggressive and made it out as if me giving him money was him doing me a favour!
I emailed Mark several times to ask why my complaint had not been investigated or me not being provided with the details of his line manager and guess what no response.
Don't bother wasting your money as applicants we get from Indeed a mainly the same as the ones from the job centre site which is free.
Hello Shelina, thank you for reaching out to us regarding this matter and sorry for the poor experience with Indeed. We have went ahead and escalated your account and request to speak with a manager accordingly. Someone should be following up with you shortly to discuss your experience. If there is anything else that we can do to help resolve this situation, please private message us directly through the SiteJabber platform and we would be happy to assist you.
Initially a bit difficult to get into the system but lots of help put me on course. Many good applicants. Easy to manage and of course we have found the right person who will join us shortly. Great success.
Thank you for your feedback!
We are a new small business, opened an account for employers looking to hire staff. Indeed charged my account then blocked me, stating we are unsuitable for indeed. I am okay not using their service. However, I will like my money back since I have not used the days I was charged for nor can I access the applicants information who applied.

I have been using Indeed for the past 3-4 months and hired several candidates and have not encountered anything like this before. I don't know if it was deactivated or blocked, but I can't find all my job advertisements including all the candidates that I was suppose to review/filter.
Please give me a valid reason why both of my account is having the same issue, no matter what I click I always go back to the same page.
I cannot believe Indeed would do this. I had 90 applicants approximately and they disabled my account as many people here have mentioned. We have a legitimate business and I am also travelling internationally and had many interviews scheduled. They sent a form letter simply stating that we did not adhere to the terms and conditions. NO EXPLANATION. My trip was basically for nothing! And potential candidates were left in the dark. I cannot finish my work. They could've at least call. This is so unprofessional. I need to solve this as soon as possible. I awaiting a response.
Hello Michael, thank you for reaching out. A member of our team has responded to your review by private message.
We operate a hospitality recruitment agency and had used indeed for many years - mostly the free site and sometimes sponsored jobs and campaigns. They recently suspended our account giving some fairly dubious reasons about our jobs. We appealed (although it was quite unclear as to what we were actually appealing) and they have said they will not reactivate our account and have given no reason. For some reason they just seem to have taken against a small respectable recruitment agency. Our candidate reviews on indeed are averaging over 4/5 which is higher than many of their clients currently recruiting on the platform so there is no valid reason why we have been banned. My feeling is that they are eliminating competition to the temp staff platform they recently bought. My advice is to steer clear as if you become reliant on them they are happy to take it away and potentially really impact your business.
Hello Mike, thank you for reaching out. To explain, it is normal that all accounts will be reviewed as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met. If enough information is not provided when the account is being created or we find a violation of our guidelines, then the account will go into the appeal status that you're likely now experiencing. We would be happy to take a close look at your account. If you're interested, please email our team at sitejabber@indeed.com.
I am not happy with the fact that Indeed has decided to disable my account with no valid reason. I understand that you may have your own guidelines and expectations and I'm sure there is a better way to communicate them with clients without blocking active recruitments. I am very disappointed as I had scheduled Walk-in interviews and now the candidates cannot get that information from me as I cannot access their CV's. What kind of system is this? A complete waste of my money, time and a damage to my company's reputation.
Hi Redemta! We reached out to you via private message and look forward to assisting further.
I posted a job on this site for $50.00. Within 2 hours supposedly I had reached the limit of applicants who "viewed" my posting. Of course, I just have to trust that this actually occurred. I received 9 resumes seemingly at random. Not 1 applicant had the experience I had specified in the add and 8 of the 9 worked in completely different careers - not even close. This is a scam. After reading other reviews, I am now concerned about my card being charged excessively and will have to waste time monitoring this. Stay away from this site. Any other way of finding employees is better than this. This is a complete waste of money.
I see a lot of same feedback as my own
So it is a normal practice of Indeed may be because of their algorithm or not better policies
As a small business owner, especially at the time of pandemic as we strive hard to hire people knowing I cannot afford to pay a Recruitment Agency to hire for me, indeed has disable my account
No explanations, no heads up, not even an effort to help me know at least what did I do wrong to be treated this way, like a court marshal. Even army gives explanations before executing. It is so unprofessional - your company just do not follow any code of ethics

The job search site Indeed was once a good place to research jobs. It allowed job seekers the opportunity to read and write reviews of employers. They have recently changed their format to require users post their online resume before they could leave a review of current or previous employer. The site even goes as far as censoring material that isn't favorable towards employers. The forum used on Indeed is the least user friendly forum I have witnessed in a long time.
Indeed is mostly aggregate job listings that are old by the time indeed web crawler brings it to the board. Even if the job listing is valid, it's unlikely any one in busy a HR will even care to see an email from indeed with a resume attached. Has any one really looked at some of the resumes? Many are just plain bad.
Of course HR can post openings directly to job board, but why put out the effort? Employers tend to fill openings from within. It's more comfortable even if it breeds cronyism. I also doubt any employer really trolls through indeed resumes in search of a candidate. It's an employers market, resumes are pouring in so much a cv scanner does all the work of sifting through applicants. The scanner is set to disqualify almost everything to eliminate traffic and discrimination liability.
I'm afraid the only way to land a job is have a connection on the inside or walk in and get lucky. Passive job search is unlikely to develop any thing but black hole efforts.
Absolutely terrible. Block my account with 0 warning. I had over 100 applicants in a post in under 72 hours, and they decided to block my account. As a independent recruiter, who is trying to build his own firm, it's impossible to have a cash flow for posting. Don't waste your time with them. They are only after your money. All they want is for you to buy paid posting, which are based on click. 80% of the clicks don't even apply.
Hi, we have reached out via private message, please reply back when you have a moment. Thank you!
Our national company is always actively looking for local contractors. Indeed seemed like a great solution because it is extremely expensive to post 10+ ads per month in different markets. In the beginning, we received quality candidates and hired many people through Indeed. After a while, we received fewer and fewer applicants, and we started to get constant marketing calls from Indeed, trying to push us into a paid service. The last call we received was extremely rude, but we politely stated again that we were happy with our current level of service. Suddenly, our last three ads have zero views. In the beginning, our ads were getting several hundred views each. We are a legitimate company with clear job posts, explaining the kind of job and the expectations. We did nothing wrong, and will certainly not pay for service now.

Very disappointing at the expense in getting one part-time position filled. Indeed claims to have gotten more than 1,400 clicks for our very geographically narrow and very limited and specific job posting. We did fill the position with an applicant from their site, but paying $1,000+ seems wrong. Are they juicing their numbers?
They said they would be back to me immediately to go over the numbers... one hour and still waiting...
I recently reviewed a former employer. My review never showed upon their site. I had heard that the HR manager from said employer was on the phone with INDEED trying to find out how to remove bad reviews. Apparently he figured it out.
Hi Frederick, we have responded to your review by private message. Please follow up there with any additional questions you may have.
Indeed is a site that is structured to present everyone in the same band container. Instead of taking a PDF for a resume they unload it and flatten it into obscurity. Then they ask all the questions about what is already in your resume and flatten you some more. Awful, the best use is to try and find the employer and apply directly. However, today many employers try to save work by using sites like Indeed. I used them and was so discouraged by their format that I then applied direct and it worked. There is no real feedback from applying through Indeed. You do not even know if they actually sent your data to the employer. Never will I use them again.

Answer: Hello Anita, positions posted for free stay on Indeed for a total of 120 days. Sponsored positions can stay on the site until an employer has filled the job and closed it on Indeed.
Answer: Hi Sarah, we're sorry you haven't heard back from employers when submitting your resume on Indeed. We'd be happy to assist you here in reviewing your resume and offering suggestions for applying to jobs on the site. Please email us at sitejabber@indeed.com with a link to your Indeed Resume or document so that we can review. Thank you.
Answer: Hello Gerard, sorry for the negative experience. Indeed recently augmented existing search quality programs with new, ongoing strategies to make sure all jobs on Indeed meet standards for quality. This effort included a large scale review of job listings. Jobs that violated our guidelines and companies that did not meet our quality standards were disabled. We apologize that this was a frustrating process for you and will provide this feedback to our Search Quality team for future improvements.
Answer: By NO MEANS should you pursue this so-called job offer further and in fact, you should report them to the Better Business Bureau.
