As the world's #1 job site, with over 180 million unique visitors every month from over 50 different countries, Indeed has become the catalyst for putting the world to work. Indeed is intensely passionate about delivering the right fit for every hire. Indeed helps companies of all sizes hire the best talent and offers the best opportunity for job seekers to get hired.
Indeed has a rating of 1.5 stars from 979 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Indeed most frequently mention customer service, small business and employer account. Indeed ranks 131st among Recruiting sites.
I set up a profile and created a job posting only to find my account disabled because "they couldn't verify we were a legitimate business." I assume this is because we are a small rural business with a PO Box that works directly with companies and therefore have never had a reason to have a web presence. After I appealed the decision and submitted the appropriate paperwork as requested I only got back generic automated emails about how I had plenty of time to submit so I called multiple times, the poor people on the phone have apparently zero training and couldn't tell me anything about why the paperwork submitted was rejected even though it was exactly what was asked for.
I have been attempting to get this straightened out for over a week and only get "oh just resubmit or I will send a note to the internal team" and then never hear back. There is no manager to speak with apparently and the enteral team doesn't accept calls.
It has been a truly terrible experience.
I have been working on hiring candidates from indeed since 2020 and it is the only main source of my income, as i hire candidates on behalf of my company and provide them from which i get benefit but indeed disabled my account without any reason i have been using it since 2020 and they rejected my appeal also i dont know what's wrong so disappointing and stressed
I've had the same 1 star experience as many other businesses here where the account was suddenly blocked and nobody could provide any extra information. Agents over the phone kept promising it's with the 'internal team' and somebody will get back to me within 48 hours or within 3 business days, but that never happened. All I got was an email with a link to their FAQs. I have become too reliant on Indeed for recruiting and this has really impacted the business. We had paid campaigns and an active account for close to a year and fine-tuned our marketing efforts based on Indeed campaigns. I need an explanation at least and some chance to fix whatever the issue was, not a ban and then ghosting.
Hello,
All accounts and jobs are subject to our standard reviewing process. After further review, the decision has been made that your job postings cannot be shown on Indeed. For your reference, please see Indeed’s terms of service: https://ca.indeed.com/legal?hl=en&redirect=true#tos and our Job Posting Best Practices: https://indeed.force.com/employerSupport1/s/topic/0TO1R000000xxOtWAI/policies?language=en_CA
No further action is required on your part and no additional details regarding this decision have been provided. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Best regards,
Indeed Support
Like many others who have reviewed on this platform, my account was also disabled out of the blue with no justification or reason. I also received hundreds of applications in a very short period of time (without paying for their sponsorship) and for some reason that makes my posting go against the rules? I of course appealed the decision and was told it was because they could not verify my association with the company and required proof - I thought this should be an easy fix and then provided all documentation they could need (certificate of incorporation, insurance documents, etc.) and they responded simply saying they still chose to disable the account. No further reasoning or discussion offered. I was (am still) shocked to say the least.
It is extremely disappointing as I found Indeed to be a very reliable and trustworthy place to find a job as a seeker, but after having this experience as an employer and now knowing what they do to small companies who have success without paying for their sponsorships, I can't support them again.
Hi! We see you have been working with a representative at Indeed and this is now resolved. If you have any questions, please follow up with that representative for further assistance. Thank you!
THEY JUST DISABLED MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT WARNINGS OR EVEN TELL ME THE REASON.
I DONT KNOW WHAT IS EXACTLY WRONG WITH MY POSTING TO BE DISABLED.
Hi Hazem, it appears your account is going through our standard review process. It is normal that all accounts will be reviewed as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met. If enough information is not provided when the account is being created or we find a violation of our job posting guidelines, then the account will go into the appeal status that you're now experiencing.
In this case, we see that an appeal was submitted on the account and our moderation team will follow up with you directly within the next 24 hours via email from employersupport@indeed.com. You will need to follow up with them directly via email chain in order to move forward with the review process. Please respond back to them only and double-check your spam/junk folder as well since sometimes our emails can be sent there as well. Thank you!
Hello, I set up account, upload company formation docs to verify it, post job ad and few hours later, I'm told the account is disabled. I feel so bad right now.
Hi Michael, a member of our team has reached out to you by email with more details on what happened here. Thank you.
I was not sure if I could have the time to complete 1 or 2 surveys a month when I first started. Doing a few here and there added up to enough to pay a bill I had due. Easy and didn't even realize I was making so Much. Extra Debt, no worries you can get Extra Cash here to pay bills. I had enough to transfer into my account to pay the bill on time. They were quick to transfer the cash I earned in just a few weeks!.
RUN FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU ARE AN EMPLOYER LOOKING TO HIRE. THEY HAVE WASTED A MOUNTAIN OF MY TIME! I have dealt with INDEED for several years. 1st couple of years were fine - but the company has changed so many moving parts from posting a job, sponsoring a job, not dealing with glitches in their system, gathering and replaces resumes by duplication, sending applicants over the weekend so sponsored time runs out before you can review them, charging you for them anyway, rejected applicants are allowed to submit resumes for different jobs to the same company(why!) If I rejected someone that means I would not hire them. They charge for applicants that don't complete the assessments(why?), that is part of the application process! I will never do business with this company again. Hiring someone to work in a small company is serious business. We are looking for longevity and growth. Working through INDEED is like playing Russian Roulette and then you get to pay for it too!
Hi! We have reached out via private message, please respond there when you are able. Thank you!
I chose their service to hire people.
But I must say worst company and they are looting people in their website. Their whole algorithms set to loot people but not provide proper service.
Worst never choose. Their whole website is a spam panel to loot money
Hi Mohsin, we are sorry to hear that you are having issues getting in contact with Indeed. We can see on your account that a contact form was submitted and these forms do take about 72 business hours to receive a reply. At this time, our Client Success Team has responded back to the contact form that was submitted. If you ever need additional assistance in the future, feel free to reach out at socialcare@indeed.com. Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback.
Will flag you if you do not sponsor your ads. Will make up some fake reason as to why your account is flagged and say if you want to post, you have to pay.
Cause the ad that I will pay is going to be the exact same ad that is ok if I pay but not if I don't?
Makes no sense
Hi Henry, thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback. To explain, it is normal that all accounts and jobs on Indeed will be reviewed. The review process of your Indeed account was completed and it was determined that due to the nature of your jobs, they will require Sponsorship in order to be posted publicly on Indeed. To provide the best experience for our job seekers, certain types of jobs need to be sponsored to be shown on our site. Sponsored jobs are prominently displayed in search results and do not fall back in search results as they age. This visibility will not change and for your reference as well here is more information about sponsored jobs from our public employer help center: https://indeed.force.com/employerSupport1/s/article/360018715251?language=en_CA. We do apologize for any inconvenience.
I'm a small mental health private practice and opened up earlier this year. I set up an account with indeed and it was working for the first two to three months until suddenly they disabled my account, completely out of nowhere. They seem to be targeting small businesses that can't afford to spend lots of money on their site. I did try the sponsor job one time, and it was trash. All the candidates I got and that they were asking me to pay for we're so irrelevant to the job posting that I had up that it was ridiculous to ask me to pay for such a stupid service. So all the job postings that I posted afterwards we're definitely not sponsored, and now I'm so glad I didn't give them any of my hard earned money! And don't even waste your time trying to appeal, they don't even look at it and within a day they'll send you back an email stating that decision is permanent but they still won't give a reason as to why. The site is trash now, it used to be good but it's totally trash now. Don't waste your time, go to better job posting boards like LinkedIn. All indeed does is scrape other job boards & websites anyway, so when you post on the other job boards your job will likely still end up on indeed without you having to deal with indeed directly. They are absolutely terrible, don't do it. Run!
Hi, thanks for reaching out. To provide some clarity, all accounts and jobs on Indeed are subject to our standard rolling reviewing process that can occur at any time. Our team has concluded that Indeed will be unable to show your openings in our search results and the account will remain in its current disabled status. As the account has been disabled by Indeed you do not have the option to post a new position. Please note: Indeed may reject or remove any job and may disable any Company's account, for any or no reason. We cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest. This is a final decision that will not be reversed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have urgent hiring needs, we highly suggest utilizing other hiring services.
We have used Indeed for several years, with spending last year of £50k.
Our account has been suspended with no further job postings... Why? No detail, no assistance!
No-one to speak to. Just a decision!
We have looked through the 76 pages of terms and conditions... really!
Surely, speak to the business, highlight the issue. I cant imagine what the issue is.
Hi Theo, thanks for reaching out. To provide some clarity, all accounts and jobs on Indeed are subject to our standard rolling reviewing process that can occur at any time. Our team has concluded that Indeed will be unable to show your openings in our search results and the account will remain in its current disabled status. In addition, Indeed does not allow non-job postings. This includes, but is not limited to, jobseeker fees, training and education opportunities, multi-level marketing opportunities, volunteer jobs, franchising opportunities, jobseeker employment solicitation, expired jobs, and jobs which do not represent a specific employer vacancy. Indeed always retains the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest. This decision is irreversible and final. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have urgent hiring needs, we highly suggest utilizing other hiring services.
Waste of time applying as you get an email saying that you application has been sent but when I phoned about job the application hadn't been received so missed out on a job I wanted
Hello Jason, thank you for sharing your thoughts. Indeed is not directly involved in the hiring process, and unfortunately, each company is different in terms of who receives and reviews resumes once they are submitted. We send notification of an application being submitted to inform job seekers that we have completed this step. After this step, it is the employer's responsibility to review applications and communicate with job seekers as we are not involved in this part of the process.
I am a new business and had our account disabled after a few days. Told me to submit documentation such as a utility bill. Which I did immediately. They responded that wasn't good enough and my appeal was denied. Asked them what they were questioning, the business, my role or the position. The reply is they could do nothing to help me further and to reach out to customer service with no contact info... I personally don't want to give a company hundreds of dollars and receive unsolicited emails for a job I am apparently just making up. What a crock... but what else are you suppose to do no one looks anywhere else.
So frustrating.
Hi Amanda, we have reached out via private message!
The new pay-per-applicant is complete crap. If you so much as click on the person (to see if they are a decent applicant) you're charged a fee (close to $100) per person. So, you pay for unscreened and completely aloof applicants. You also might pay for someone who has zero background for your position but applied anyway. One applicant I got was my top pick until I uncovered she was a FELON with an extensive background of stealing from her employers. One guy showed up for his first two interviews, then ghosted us. Another woman did the initial interview, was excited to come back, and cost us time and MORE money by ghosting us again. Indeed is a great place to waste money and lose faith in the human race. I don't care where you find employees, DON'T do it here.
Hi Ashley, we're sorry to hear about your candidate experience. Please keep in mind that Indeed is not able to control candidate behavior and we cannot control candidates not showing up to interviews. We would be happy to pass along your feedback about that! Also, with our new pricing cost per application model, users do have more control over your quality and spending because Indeed lets users review applications before they're charged, giving users the final say on which applications they pay for. Users can also reject candidates within 48 hours of their application to avoid charges. After this period, will users be charged for the candidate, if not rejected. To confirm, employers do not get charged by clicking on candidates who applied. If you wish to sponsor the post using a daily/ monthly budget, you can select the "classic model" or "Switch to old model" option that is displayed when going through the job posting funnel. If you ever need assistance in the future, feel free to reach out at sitejabber@indeed.com.
They disable your account if you don't pay them to boost your job post. Not a good site anymore. It used to be a great site to post, but now if you refuse to pay, your account is magically now against their terms and you get suspended. Do not waste any money on indeed, they will bully you into submission!
I didn't even get to post a job. They wanted my business origination papers, my phone number. I feel like they took all of my information and ran.
-Hi! We have reached out via private message. Thank you!
The first time I used this account to post a job ad, my first, I was excited and then BANG I was blocked and this is how they make you feel "You are nothing, we don't care about you, we won't even tell you what you did wrong' It's like an angry child telling you to GO AWAY I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU
I find it ironic that they answer here is "If you have urgent hiring needs, we recommend utilizing other hiring services"
This really left a bad taste in my mouth, the way this is handled is telling me this organisation don't share my value so I will follow their advice and use another company.
Hi Mikael, we are sorry to hear that you are having a poor experience. We have an extensive moderation process that is designed to protect our job seekers and employers, all accounts are subject to this review and it can happen at any time. If an account is flagged this way you can reach out to our Trust & Safety team to appeal the process. We can see that you have already done this and a member of our team has followed up with more details. We advise following up there so this can be resolved at the earliest opportunity.
It looks like Indeed is big fans of bullying businesses. Just like many other reviewers here I created an indeed account and within minutes received an email saying my account was disabled. I called customer service and was told this was just a formality for new accounts and to appeal the decision. I replied to their email as instructed. I am brand new to Indeed as well as brand new to working with an ATS. The ATS company we work with told me that I needed to set up the Indeed account myself so that they could then integrate Indeed into their system for me. Any time I clicked the employer button at the top right of the screen on the Indeed website it took me to the job posting function and would not let me navigate anywhere else within the employer functionality. So having no experience with Indeed I went ahead and posted a job. After explaining all this to the customer service agent I spoke to on the phone and then again in my appeal email as I was instructed to do I received an email from Indeed in less than 15 minutes from the time I submitted my appeal saying my account had been permanently disabled and they would provide no more help or information regarding the decision. This was even after I apologized in my appeal for posting the job incorrectly as the email they sent me saying the account was disabled specifically referenced issues with the job posting. I asked them to please contact me and help me set the account and job up properly. Instead they just basically told me to get lost.
I don't understand how a company can do business this way. A brand new user needs your help and your response is to say you won't help and kick them off your service permanently? This seems very counterintuitive to what I would have thought their goal is…. To connect job seekers with employers. I was literally hired at my new employer just last week specifically for this task and Indeed has decided I am not worthy or valuable enough to receive their help and may very well cost me my job. If I could give them negative stars I would.
Hi Riley, we can see that you communicated with a member of our team today and received assistance. If we can assist further please follow up with us by email at socialcare@indeed.com.
Your ability to post jobs on indeed has been disabled. How to solve the issues please to guide me. I
Hi! We have reached out via private message, please reply there with any additional questions. Thank you!
Absolutely terrible. Block my account with 0 warning. I had over 100 applicants in a post in under 72 hours, and they decided to block my account. As a independent recruiter, who is trying to build his own firm, it's impossible to have a cash flow for posting. Don't waste your time with them. They are only after your money. All they want is for you to buy paid posting, which are based on click. 80% of the clicks don't even apply.
Hi, we have reached out via private message, please reply back when you have a moment. Thank you!
Answer: Hello Anita, positions posted for free stay on Indeed for a total of 120 days. Sponsored positions can stay on the site until an employer has filled the job and closed it on Indeed.
Answer: Hi Sarah, we're sorry you haven't heard back from employers when submitting your resume on Indeed. We'd be happy to assist you here in reviewing your resume and offering suggestions for applying to jobs on the site. Please email us at sitejabber@indeed.com with a link to your Indeed Resume or document so that we can review. Thank you.
Answer: Hello Gerard, sorry for the negative experience. Indeed recently augmented existing search quality programs with new, ongoing strategies to make sure all jobs on Indeed meet standards for quality. This effort included a large scale review of job listings. Jobs that violated our guidelines and companies that did not meet our quality standards were disabled. We apologize that this was a frustrating process for you and will provide this feedback to our Search Quality team for future improvements.
Answer: By NO MEANS should you pursue this so-called job offer further and in fact, you should report them to the Better Business Bureau.

The account has gone through our reviewing process and our team has concluded that we will not show these openings in our search results. The account will remain in its current disabled status.
