“IKEA is my favorite furniture store for its affordable prices”

Nat G.
3/29/24

IKEA is my favorite furniture store for its affordable prices, modern designs, and convenient shopping experience. The showroom layouts are inspiring and make it easy to visualize how pieces will look in my home. I appreciate the flat-pack packaging, which makes transportation and assembly a breeze. The variety of styles and options available ensure that there's something for every taste and budget

“£40 delivery charge and received 2 damaged items”

Ben P.
1/15/24

IKEA charged me £40 for delivery, made me wait a week and sent everything loose. 2 items arrived damaged. They would not let me report this automatically online and I had to start a customer service chat. Redelivery will be another week, putting my project back and costing me more money. Avoid this company at all costs.

Verified purchase

I bought almost 3,000 $ furniture from Ikea,Khobar Saudia
Promissed delivery between Dec.6-12.2022
Until today waiting, calling and writing emails daily. All i hear hopefully you will get it in a few days, but what date? Cant tell?
They talk alot about their customer services but when you try them, you will see how bad they really are. I even emailed Ikea international office by email, and no response!
They failed badly.

Ikea's online ordering process creates problems. In my case, I ordered a bookcase. I had to complete sale before I could learn when the delivery date was. When their delivery date didn't work for me, I followed links to reschedule. For some reason, no matter how quickly I type and click, the Rescheduler keeps saying Session Timed Out. How can it time out after 12-13 seconds? The web process is dysfunctional and creates problems which you then have to spend time trying to solve.

I visited the Oak Creek store in Wisconsin yesterday. It was a beautiful store. It was clean and bright. The displays were outstanding. However, when it came time to purchase the products there were none available in stock to purchase. By the fourth item I was beginning to get frustrated. They dont sell the display items. The employee offered to ship to me for $9.00 shipping and handling. No thanks. It just took us 2 hours to get here. Without the products to purchase it is just a museum. Disappointed and I don't plan to return to this store.

I always knew that not all Ikea products are of a good quality. But it turned out that some of them are totally awful! I bought a little table here a week and yesterday it was broken.

Some good, some bad. Honestly it's a mixed bag. If you want simple, cheap furniture, then it does the trick.

Only go there when I want 1000 tea lights for next to nothing. Then I take my search dog with me because I won't be coming out anytime soon. They should offer lemonade stands throughout that awful store. I'm surprised no one has died from a stroke or heart attack while trying to get out! They have done that on purpose but it really has come back to bite them in the butt. I won't go there anymore!

Ok, so just read their delivery FAQs - I was told to expect delivery yesterday, then got an email saying that delivery would be today between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. I assumed with such a HUGE timeframe that there was no way they expected someoene to be home. Well, yes - they do. Luckily my 18 year old daughter had to be home today anyways as she wasn't feeling well, but she intentionally sat on the couch all morning waiting/hoping that her bed would be delivered. I get a voicemail while at work at 10:45 saying the trucks were at my house but that we were needing to reschedule because they couldn't reach me! In IKEA's FAQs, that you only see if you click on them and are not clearly stated in their email or when you order, someone 18+ has to be home and if the delivery has to be rescheduled you have to pay a redelivery fee. For one, who has 12 hours to sit at home waiting for a delivery? For two, someone was home and the delivery people were what - too lazy to knock on the door? NEVER ordering from them again!

Ordered two chest of drawers. Charged my account but never heard a word from them. Called and found out the order was cancelled cause the items were not available. I order quite a bit online and normally not charged until the item is processed for delivery. Why did IKEA charge my credit card for items that are not available? Now have to wait and see if I will receive a refund.

I've ordered twice now from Ikea. Because it's so far from me online ordering is easier.

1st order. Items arrived damaged. Both sets of drawers. They were cheap. Not worth sending back.

2nd order. I paid for pick up in the store. A friend picked them up for me without checking the boxes. One box had forklift damage on the side. Actually poked a hole right through one of the drawers. Resulted in a second trip to Ikea.

Shipment fees in Edmonton are ridiculous as are installation fees. You pay $100 for a cabinet but then $200 for delivery on a specific date and installation. Products are not worth this.

It's only worth if you go in person with a couple of people to help you pick up items and install yourself.

The guy Al at the entrance of the door didn't ask us if he can help us with anything, but he asked a few other couples who entered Ikea after us. But upon leaving he wanted to see our reciept saying he needs his job and has to see our reciept, so my husband said it's an important part of your job to see our reciept, but not to ask us if we need help with anything when we first come in? He said he didn't see us, but how could he not when he was watching us and staring at us as we were walking through the first glass doors, we stopped in the lobby in front of him deciding if we want to eat before shopping and ge was standing 3 feet away watching us. The cashier a middle aged woman who was so rude and kept rushing us along- i'm not sure why because we only had 4 items. No customer service just a rush attitude.

The employees who were really nice and curtious to us were the cashiers at the snack shop on the first floor and tbe security guard.

Also the ceiling near the snack shop on the 1st fl. Needs to be fixed as it was dripping water.

I made an in store purchase and asked to have my couch delivered because it would not fit in my car. The first delivery was not bad. However, once I opened the boxes and starting putting my couch together i noticed one piece had a huge hole in the wooden frame. So I called customer service, waited for 44 minutes. They offered to come pick up the bad piece and replace it, but told me a different person would call me to schedule a time. I waited a day for that call. And requested for a Tuesday evening due to my work schedule. He said, "at this time all I can do is put Tuesday 9-9 down but they will call you the day before to verify a 4 hour time frame and allow you to reschedule." I never received a phone call, but late at night I receive a txt saying they had a cancellation and asked if they can come early in the morning. I responded no, in the evening. Come Tuesday, they try to show up at my apartment while at work in the early afternoon. And I am being charged for not being there at the time of the delivery. Horrible communication skills and I've had a horrible time trying to just speak to anyone in customer service because they continually transfer me to different departments then I end up waiting 30+ minutes each time I'm transferred.

Might as well be. IKEA furniture although modern and sleek with good aesthetic lacks the functionality of a dependable piece of furniture. The prices reflect quality and the brand is trusted but on average... RTG and IKEA offer the same temporary style furniture and price. I would not expect long term functionality here, short term looks and feel are more realistic.

Bought one of their famous assemble-it-yourself-you-fool pieces of wood furniture. It was delivered in two large and heavy boxes, cleverly packed. There were four large wood pieces all the same shape and size but each with a different set of predrilled holes. Well, they mispacked and included two of one piece and none of another.

One would think this would be easy to solve. Nope. First, the instructions only had part numbers for the hardware, nothing for wood pieces. Second, "missing piece?" online instructions had no way to indicate the problem or request replacement without that part number. I finally hunted and found a way to send an email.

Took them a week to respond and then it kept getting bounced from person to person, most of whom seemed to disbelieve and made me start from the beginning. No one would ever take ownership of the problem saying, "no, that cannot happen." (well, it did)

Finally, after about five weeks the sent the replacement part (actually, they send two of them!). Overall a fine example of arrogance thinking that customers are always trying to rip them off when in truth the opposite could probably be claimed just as well.
